00:00The relief operation in the province of La Union is still in progress
00:03for those affected by the Super Typhoon Pepito.
00:06The DSWD and the Provincial Government of La Union
00:09are working hard to meet the needs of the evacuees in Luzon.
00:13This is the national news of Kathleen Ramones
00:15from the Philippine Information Agency Region 1.
00:20In the middle of the Typhoon Pepito,
00:22the Department of Social Welfare and Development
00:25and the Provincial Government of La Union
00:28are working hard to meet the needs of the evacuees.
00:30On the night of November 17, 2024,
00:33the DSWD Field Office 1 was able to deliver
00:36700 family food packs from their regional warehouse in Biday.
00:40These were delivered with the help of the PGLU
00:42and the Philippine National Police
00:43to the evacuation centers in the cities of Bangar,
00:46Sudipen, Balawan, Bacnotan, and Bawang.
00:49In the evacuation centers of Bangar,
00:50208 internally displaced persons were affected by the food packs.
00:55Relief operations are part of the ongoing efforts
00:58to ensure the safety of the temporary residents
01:02in the evacuation centers throughout the province.
01:05The weather is getting worse in the province of La Union.
01:08The people of the province are experiencing
01:10rough to very rough sea conditions
01:12with high waves of up to 3.5 meters.
01:16Because of this, all types of water activities
01:19such as fishing, diving, and swimming
01:21are prohibited in the coastal towns.
01:23As part of the pre-emptive measures,
01:25the PGLU recorded that 906 families
01:28or 2,086 people from the town of Bangar,
01:31Agoo, Bawang, Bacnotan, Sudipen, and Luna
01:35were evacuated before the effects of the typhoon could be felt.
01:39Of these, 388 families or 1,929 people
01:43are currently in the evacuation centers.
01:46Aside from the food provided by the PGLU
01:48that has sufficient supply of clean water,
01:51medical supplies, and generator sets
01:52in the evacuation centers
01:53to ensure proper service to the evacuees.
01:56The PGLU continues to remind the residents
02:00to stay inside their homes,
02:03avoid unnecessary travel,
02:05and follow the announcements
02:06from the provincial government of La Union and Pag-asa.
02:09The La Union Command Center remains open 24-7
02:13to provide real-time updates
02:15and receive emergency reports.
