00:00The line of communication in some evacuation centers in Bicol Region has been restored

00:04because of the built-in satellites of DICT in their respective areas.

00:09This is Rodrigo Victoria of PIA Bicol Region for Balitang Pambansang.

00:15Their cellular phones have been used to evacuate some evacuation centers in Cabarines Sur

00:21after installing VISA, Starlink, and Free Wi-Fi to DICT.

00:25DICT assures that local authorities, first responders, and affected communities

00:31have access to communication channels to facilitate rescue, relief, and recovery operations

00:37currently being carried out in affected areas in Bicol Region.

00:41Among the evacuation centers in Bicol Region identified and prioritized by DICT Region 5

00:47installed by Starlink is Agdangan Elementary School in Bao, Cabarines Sur,

00:51which has 94 evacuees.

00:54The mobile VISA of DICT 5 was transferred from the PILI Environment, Disaster Management,

00:59and Emergency Response Office to PNP San Fernando in San Fernando, Cabarines Sur

01:05and DICT 5 and 8 were repositioned.

01:08The VISA came from PILI to the Buhi Municipal Evacuation Center in Camp Sur

01:13which is estimated to have more than 500 evacuees.

01:16Very fortunate, sir, that Cabarines Sur and Legazpi Albay

01:22because they have connectivity, there's a signal there, sir, so there's no problem.

01:27When it comes to call and texts, it's very okay.

01:31Only the areas that are browned out have connectivity issues

01:37because when the area is browned out, the cell sites there are also browned out.

01:42If there's no generator, they don't have a signal, sir.

01:45So, that's the...

01:47Cabarines Sur is very fortunate when it comes to connectivity.

01:52We are now inside the Government Emergency Communication System Mobile Operations Vehicle for Emergencies,

01:58a specialized unit that uses radio and satellite communication tools,

02:02internet access capabilities, mobile connectivity solutions

02:06to strengthen communication efforts for the Bicol Region.
