00:00In this Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

00:06invited child cancer warriors and their families

00:10to join their efforts to build a stronger healthcare system

00:16so that their needs can be met.

00:20This is Bernard Perez for Central Balita.

00:25President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. visited

00:27the Philippine Children's Medical Center or PCMC in Quezon City

00:32during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

00:35to raise awareness on childhood cancer management.

00:39PCMC is close to the heart of Puno, Ecuador

00:43because it was established under Presidential Decree No. 1631

00:47issued by his father, former President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Sr.

00:51until PCMC was inaugurated by his mother, former First Lady Emelda R. Marcos

00:56who served as Minister of Human Settlements until it was fully opened to the public

01:01to provide pediatric healthcare on June 23, 1980.

01:05PCMC is also one of the National Centers for Specialized Healthcare

01:10under the Department of Health.

01:11Today, President R. Marcos, Jr.

01:15handed over a check worth Php 150 million.

01:19He also assured that the government will continue to help

01:22our fellow countrymen who are in need of quality medical services.

01:27To our little warriors and their families,

01:29you're not alone in this fight.

01:31You're not alone.

01:32We are here with you

01:36and we are with you in everything you do

01:39to help your children

01:42to be healthy and strong.

01:45He is also building the PCMC Legacy Tower

01:48which has two floors to support the health services of the growing population of the country.

01:55It has a 500-bed capacity treasury hospital to provide pediatric care,

02:00training programs for medical, nursing, and allied healthcare providers.

02:05President R. Marcos, Jr. also provided the latest equipment in the Legacy Tower.

02:10The newly installed diagnostic imaging machines, the 3-Tesla MRI,

02:15the 128-slice CT scan,

02:18and the dynamic DER X-ray machine.

02:21They're not just shiny new machines, new technologies.

02:25They are lifelines.

02:27They allow us to diagnose more quickly,

02:29treat more effectively,

02:31and give every child a fighting chance.

02:34President R. Marcos, Jr. also congratulated the doctors and patients of PCMC

02:39for his upcoming hero,

02:41Bernard Ferrer, for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
