00:00It was a beautiful morning on the island of Sodor and it was Lady Hatt's birthday.
00:10She was having a special party. There were cakes and balloons and even a merry-go-round.
00:19But the most exciting of all was the brass band.
00:24It was coming from the mainland to play at the party.
00:29The Fat Controller came to Tidmouth Sheds.
00:32Thomas, you are to collect the brass band.
00:37Thank you, sir, said Thomas.
00:40James and Gordon were upset. They wanted to collect the brass band themselves.
00:50Thomas puffed happily across the island and into Knapford Station.
01:05The brass band climbed aboard Thomas and he raced away.
01:11But Thomas was so excited he pulled away too soon.
01:15The tuba player was left behind.
01:22Thomas steamed off to Maithwaite Station and the brass band assembled on the platform.
01:31Suddenly, the band leader cried out.
01:35Where is the tuba player? he wailed. We cannot play without him.
01:42No one knew where the tuba player was.
01:45I'm sorry, sir, gasped Thomas. I must have left him behind.
01:52Thomas raced back to Knapford Station, but the tuba player wasn't at Knapford Station.
01:59He was waiting for Bertie the Bus.
02:02Bertie pulled up beside the tuba player.
02:06Can you take me to the party? he asked.
02:10I'll take you as far as I can, said Bertie.
02:15Thomas arrived at Knapford Station and couldn't see the tuba player anywhere.
02:20The tuba player is lost, moaned Thomas, and it's all my fault.
02:30Thomas raced from station to station. Must find him, must find him, he puffed.
02:37Where could he be?
02:40Bertie had dropped the tuba player off.
02:43Bye-bye, he called cheerfully.
02:46Thank you, said the tuba player, and he waited for another ride.
02:53He didn't have to wait long.
02:57Elizabeth the Vintage Lorry pulled up.
03:02I can take you as far as the flour mill, she boomed.
03:07Thank you, said the tuba player.
03:10He climbed on to Elizabeth's wagon, and he practiced his tuba as they chuffed down the lane.
03:19Thomas puffed faster and faster.
03:23Where was the tuba player?
03:27Thomas flew right across the level crossing.
03:34He didn't see Elizabeth waiting there, or the tuba player on her flatbed.
03:40And he didn't hear the tuba playing.
03:46Where could the tuba player be? Thomas moaned.
03:52Elizabeth took the tuba player all the way to the mill.
03:57There you are, young man, she puffed. Trevor will take you from here.
04:02The tuba player thanked Elizabeth and climbed aboard Trevor.
04:07Trevor chugged slowly down the lane.
04:22Thomas kept on looking, but the island was very big, and the tuba player was very small.
04:34Thomas looked behind trucks,
04:43and called into carriages.
04:47He raced along the main line, tooting all the way.
04:52Where was the tuba player?
05:04Thomas raced into the yard. Percy was coming the other way.
05:11Thomas bumped straight into Percy, and a bunting flew up in the air.
05:22Percy's trucks came off the track, and so did Thomas.
05:26You've spilt my bunting, moaned Percy.
05:30I'll never find the tuba player now, groaned Thomas.
05:35Harvey arrived to clear the track for Thomas.
05:39Hmm, how did you get into this mess? he boomed.
05:43I was looking for the tuba player, moaned Thomas.
05:48Hmm, look and listen, Harvey said thoughtfully.
05:52If he's a tuba player, he might be playing the tuba.
05:57So Thomas took his time, and he listened very carefully.
06:04Then he heard it, the sound of a tuba playing in the distance.
06:12Trevor was chugging down the lane, he was enjoying the tuba player's music.
06:19Thomas pulled up, he was pleased to see the tuba player.
06:23I've been looking for you everywhere, he puffed.
06:28With the tuba player safely on board, Thomas steamed off to Maithwaite as fast as he could.
06:38Thomas arrived at the party just in time.
06:46The band played beautifully.
06:49Lady Hat was very happy, it was the best birthday party ever.
