00:00You know there is a reason why he rhymes with awful. Here's a look at the brand
00:04new Mattel He-Man and the Mass Universe cartoon collection Clawful Warrior with
00:08the Grip of Evil.
00:21It's an exciting time to be a Mass Universe fan. For longtime fans and for
00:26a new generation of kids who love the action-adventure, it's time to experience
00:30the thrilling action and adventure of He-Man, Skeletor, The Secrets of Castle
00:34Greyskull and much more. The figures in this collection stand 5.5 inches tall
00:39and have 16 movable joints so they're highly poseable for imaginative and
00:43action-oriented fun. I would imagine Clawful is one of Skeletor's cronies
00:48he can count on in a pinch. Just before we get a closer look, never stops does it?
00:52No it doesn't. Just before we get a closer look at the He-Man and the Mass
00:55Universe Clawful, let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the figure
00:59stands. Now he does actually appear in the episode in which the same horn also
01:04comes included with him as well. That's Driel's return. We're gonna look at the
01:07horn in a second. First though, the figure is gonna stand at 6 inches in height or
01:11cartoon Clawful is 15 centimeters tall. I'm really running out of room here.
01:16Bringing in so far what we've looked at from the cartoon collection, at least of
01:20the villain's side, here's what the figure looks like with first Skeletor, a
01:24character that also does appear in Driel's return, Trapjaw, Webster. Here's
01:30also what the figure looks like with the cartoon collection Beastman, a character
01:33that actually shares very much the same type of mold booked in on both sides of
01:36him. Actually Clawful has the same body as Merman, including as well the feet
01:40and also Webster was the same. Here's also what the figure looks like with
01:44recently, the most recently looked at figure, the Spikor, Too Bad, who's just
01:49off to the far corner. Here's also what the figure looks like with Evil Lin. Yeah
01:52already, I mean, how much space have we've occupied here? And there's a little
01:55bit more space to fill in. Here's also what the figure looks like with the
01:58Origins version of Clawful. Okay, well, what do you got? I'll show you what I got.
02:02First of all, Clawful comes in clue with the mini comic. Yep, the little sheet, by
02:07the way, that sheet that tells you you can remove the head, you can detach the
02:10arms, divorce the lower half of his body, and swap out the boots with other cartoon
02:14collection figures. That sheet? It's been sitting inside of a recycling bin for
02:17the last 10 minutes and you're never gonna see it. Sorry. What you are gonna
02:21see, though, is the mini comic that just happens to be the same one that we got
02:24with Spikor that's entitled Honor Among Thieves. Spikor, Clawful are both two
02:29characters that feature on the front along Skeletor. Although, I can't help
02:33but point out to you that also Stinkor is advertised on the front along with
02:37Stroke Induced He-Man. I don't know really what's going on with He-Man and
02:40how it just seems to continue to progressively worsen every single time
02:45we see the most powerful man in the universe. Hey, there's Stinkor down below
02:48here as well. Clamp Champ, for some reasons unknown, is always in the
02:52background of this mini comic. It sort of does combine two elements. It does have
02:56the saucer end from the games that was one of the episode specific accessories
03:00that came with Spikor, but then we also get ourselves the horn that's from the
03:04episode Driel's Return, which just happens to be the accessory that comes
03:07included with Clawful. So they sort of have taken two episodes from the Master
03:11Universe classic series and they have merged the two together in this comic. By
03:15the way, featured on the back of the comic is all the characters from this
03:18wave. We've already looked at essentially all of them, other than just
03:21the few remaining things I want to talk a little bit about for Clawful. Webster,
03:24yes. Evil Lin, hmm. And we also have already looked at Spikor just recently.
03:29You can go back by about, what, a couple of videos. It's there. You can give that a
03:33watch. Don't give it a watch just yet. You're here. Yeah, you've already hung up
03:36your jacket. Go check it out afterwards. I'm gonna go move the comic though off
03:41to the side. Let's discuss a little bit about the fact the figure comes
03:44with the Horn of Evil, which does also appear in Driel's Return. They find this
03:49horn and they blow it towards Castle Greyskull and ultimately it takes the
03:53Sorceress and puts her to sleep. I suppose, really, if just Clawful was
03:56talking to her it would have been more than enough to put the Sorceress to
03:59sleep. But they do actually use the horn for this. Now in the episode it actually
04:03more resembles white than this dark gray. I don't know why they chose gray of all
04:07things. I would have really gone with white myself. But anyways, him and
04:11actually Trap Jar are the two characters that go up to Castle Greyskull with
04:14the horn. I think Trap Jar is the one, in fact, that does blow the horn. But it
04:19does come included though. I mean, consider we've already gotten ourselves
04:21a Trap Jar. It does, though, come included with Clawful. Speaking of holding it
04:26though, Clawful doesn't do the easiest of jobs. He does have, after all, two claw
04:29hands. So you sort of have to take the horn and wedge it as far back as you can
04:34get it and it sort of wedges into the back of this area of his claw. And then,
04:38well, without dropping it, of course. Let's just pick this up here. Where is it?
04:42There it is. He doesn't hold it the best. I mean, obviously, truth be told, it would
04:46have worked so much nicer with with Trap Jar. But yeah, he basically just wedged
04:50it into his hand and just hoped that, lady luck, he just doesn't happen to drop
04:54it out of it. Ironically though enough, he doesn't have the larger claw that the
04:59original Clawful would have had. So just to bring him in, this guy also
05:03would have had the gimmick where you just pinch this little button, press it
05:06back, and obviously he opens his giant claw like lobster claw. Though,
05:11interestingly enough, if you look at the two hands, the smaller hand of Clawful
05:14happens to be the same mold that they end up using for the cartoon collection.
05:17It's just a little bit darker color. The Driel's return, in fact, actually is
05:23the female Orko comes back in that episode along with, I think it's Yonkers,
05:26the little baby brother. Yonkers makes an appearance. I mean, fun if they could
05:31have included either one of those packed along with Clawful, but considering that
05:34they probably would have been fully articulated characters, Driel's and also
05:37Yonkers, probably not the smartest ideas. I think if anything could be said for
05:42the Horn of Evil, it's one of the more interesting episode-specific accessories
05:46that we have gotten from the cartoon collection so far. We need more of these.
05:49We don't need as many game tokens that we got with Spikor. I'm just gonna move
05:53that off to the side. The head sculpt, though, for what we get with Clawful, and
05:56the other thing that's interesting about Clawful is he's probably the most
06:00departed character from the original vintage toy. There's not a whole lot that
06:04you could say is a carryover from the original Clawful. Like, Clawful, really, in
06:08the cartoon looks just basically like a background minion of Skeletor and not an
06:13actual full fleshed-out character. What's strange, really, also about Clawful in the
06:17cartoon is that every time he speaks, he speaks with echoes, so it sounds like he's
06:21inside of a tunnel every time he talks. The sculpting of the figure does look
06:25good, though. He's got the little mohawk spikes on the top like he has in the
06:28cartoon. He's got the very large beady eyes. Painted nicely are the top and the
06:31bottom of his teeth, and you can also see they've even sculpted in a tongue.
06:34Also underneath all this, obviously, is the cartoon collection bodies. They have,
06:39though, taken the torso piece and put it over top, but they haven't put it in such
06:43a way that, like, if you've looked at the original or, like, the other cartoon
06:46collection figures, they tend to always have something on their their armor
06:49where you could detach it. This seems to be the case that they probably would
06:52have had to put the armor piece on over top of his body with his head removed
06:55and his arms removed, slid basically everything over top, and then put
06:59everything else over top of that. So there doesn't seem to be. It's pretty a
07:02seamless looking armor piece that he has. It's molded here in orange. It isn't
07:06quite, though, the same orange that they painted here for the bracelets, but it is,
07:10though, a matching color that they used to the boots, which happens to be, again,
07:13those monster feet that both Merman and Webster have both had. So he does have a
07:17lot of reused parts, which goes with sort of the territory that we get, but it's so
07:21interesting, though, that Clawful literally just has these tiny, tiny
07:24little claws in the cartoon, which, again, are the same claw as the origins
07:28Clawful, but he only has... he would have had then two of these instead of just
07:32the one. Now, for the figure's articulation, Echoey Clawful does have
07:36his head that rotates all the way around. Again, it's just... just look at that for a
07:40second. Look how good that head sculpt is. He's definitely one of the more
07:43forgettable minions of Skeletor in the cartoon series, but yes, like, Clawful's a
07:47really interesting looking character that's translated extremely well to
07:50plastic. Back to posability. The head is gonna be on, again, on a ball joint, so you
07:54can move the head up and down. You can also rock it back and forth. There's a
07:57swivel in his waist. The arms do come out at 90 degrees, goes with same... same
08:01territory as all the other figures. Arms rotate also all the way around, both
08:05sides, both sides. You can also bend at the elbow. You can rotate at the forearm,
08:09and you can rotate on the hands with the hinge back and forth. I will say, though,
08:13the one thing that hasn't suffered so far in these molds is the elbow
08:17articulation. I've noticed, like, the elbows are still pretty tight on these. I
08:20wish the same could be said for the knees. The knees are pretty good, though,
08:23on Clawful. They were, though, loose when we looked at Spike or... but, again, like
08:27for the legs, they split out. They're on ball joints. You can take them and move
08:31them forward. You can move them back. There's, again, that bend at the knee that
08:34allows the lower leg to rotate. There is, yes, the rotation in the boots, and there
08:37is, yes, ankle articulation. You can move that up and down, and you can also rock
08:41it back and forth as well. I just also want to mention, as well, that the figure
08:44does have peggles in the bottoms of his feet, so if you want to use yourself a
08:47display stand, I suppose you could. The figures stand fine, though. I mean, you
08:50know, again, just to have this guy displayed, put him right there. Let's
08:55bring in, also, the other figure that we've got from this wave that happens to
08:57be a bad guy. I suppose I probably could bring in... want me to bring in all the
09:01other ones? All right, fine. You made me... you make me have to work for it. Let's
09:04bring in Webster, and, of course, we'll also bring in Evil Lin. Where's Evil Lin?
09:08Evil Lin's right over here. The only thing I would say, like, I have enjoyed
09:13this line. There's obviously very heavily... heavily bad guys in this wave versus the
09:17heroes. Unfortunately, though, like, again, Evil Lin, I hate to say it, is the one
09:22that's probably the most disappointing from this wave. First of all, she doesn't
09:25have a cape, which I know I did spend time talking about in her individual
09:29review, and also, too, like, the characters for the females should be about this
09:32size. I just recently watched, like, for the fifth time already, The Power of
09:37Greyskull, a very in-depth, comprehensive documentary on the making of He-Man, and
09:42even they show, as well, like, model charts, and all the female characters are the
09:46same size as the male characters, maybe just... just a little bit shorter. Evil Lin
09:50should not have been as this short. I mean, there's no way, either, that Tila
09:53should have been a lot shorter than He-Man. It's the only thing that I
09:56haven't liked so far from the cartoon collection is that, again, they really
09:59did drop the ball when it came to female figures, but obviously the review isn't
10:03on Evil Lin. We've already talked a lot about that already. The review was more
10:06for the cartoon collection version of this guy, and again, we'll just kind of
10:09move everybody here out of the way. Come on, everybody, move out of the way. There
10:14we go, and again, like, when you're just... when you're looking at the two, Clawful
10:17really is the most departed character when it comes to the way he looked from
10:21the toy to the way he looks in the cartoon. To look at the two, you would
10:25know right away who Clawful is from the toy, but to see this guy, I would just
10:29have suspected more so that he was just this background monster character that
10:32came along with Skeletor, and yet, though, Clawful does make a couple of random
10:37appearances. Probably the biggest appearance is in Driel's return, sort of
10:40is the episode that the character gets to shine. He does happen again, come in
10:44clear with the Horn of Evil, which, again, like, I do wish that the Horn of Evil
10:47could have been cast in white plastic, not this dark dingy gray, but he does
10:52come included with it. The irony in all of it is the fact that he is in an
10:55episode with the Horn of Evil, and yet, not in the cartoon, nor in the figure,
10:59does the character actually have the means to properly hold the horn. While I
11:03would say that Clawful was a bit of an under-average design minion of Skeletor
11:07in the cartoon, he surprisingly translates to an above-average cartoon
11:11collection figure. Not to mention, you have to give the man props. He has one of
11:15the better props to come included with him, the Horn of Evil. The Horn of Evil,
11:19like Clawful, is pretty show-accurate. If I was, though, to be attention and
11:23a stickler to details, I could say the Horn of Evil was a
11:27little bit more whiter in the actual episode, Driel's return. But the fact that
11:31we actually do get something that's a little bit more interesting than game
11:34pieces that got packed along with Spikeor, has to say something. Although,
11:39if you don't have any plans to display these figures with them, like, I initially
11:43had no plans at all to display these figures with these accessories. One idea,
11:46though, popped into my head, and I think it was during the time that we were
11:49looking at Too Bad. I looked at the mirror, and I thought, you know what? I don't want
11:52to put the mirror back in the box. It's just too cool of an accessory. I don't
11:55know if I really want to put it on the shelf, though, with these figures. Down the
11:59road, my plan is, eventually, when I do unbox Snake Mountain, because right now
12:02it's still sitting inside of its box. I just don't have the space for it.
12:06Eventually, though, when I do build up Snake Mountain, I think my plan is to
12:10take all of these things that came with these episode characters, and I might
12:13just put them at the bottom basement of Snake Mountain, as if Skeletor has been
12:16hoarding all the things of treasure he's been stealing over the years. I don't
12:20know if the mirror is gonna fit necessarily down there, but I know the
12:23Horn of Evil will. Like I said, though, Quaffle was one of the more forgettable
12:27characters in the cartoon. He only appeared in a couple episodes. Every
12:31single time he appeared, he always sounded like he was talking inside of a
12:34tunnel. What do you guys think of the character? Let me know down below in the
12:37comments section. Have you guys been collecting the cartoon collection
12:40figures from Mattel? And let me know which ones you have so far. In the
12:43meantime, though, if you guys did enjoy this video, throw it a like. You guys want
12:48to stick around for more so? I hope so. Make sure you turn on the bell.
12:51Make sure you hit that subscribe, obviously, and the biggest thing is
12:54making sure you're coming back on a regular basis. As always, guys, thanks for
12:58watching. See you guys next time!
13:07you
