00:00Tomorrow night is the start of the NFL season,
00:03and we will have the Ravens and the Chiefs in Kansas City.
00:07There was some talk after last year, Scotty,
00:09that maybe Travis Kelce was thinking about, you know,
00:13riding off into the sunset, going with his brother
00:16to do, you know, multi-billion dollar podcasts
00:19and go be a TV star.
00:20He's dating the world's biggest pop star.
00:23Maybe that would be enough to take him off the field.
00:26But no, no, no.
00:27Travis Kelce, Scotty, is as focused as ever.
00:30He is ready for another season of football
00:32and try to win a third straight Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
00:37No distractions for Kelce.
00:39I just love coming in here, man.
00:41I mentioned St. Joe's, my sanctuary.
00:43I just love football and how it takes me away from life.
00:46And it gives me something I can feel genuinely happy about.
00:50I enjoy coming in the building, working on my craft,
00:53getting to understand a new game plan
00:54and perfecting that for the people around me.
00:57Gives me a purpose to kind of go about my day
00:59and to live my life.
01:00And I just, I have so much excitement doing it.
01:03It's going to be hard trying to figure out
01:04when to call it quits or not.
01:06Yeah, yeah.
01:08Listen, I think more people are interested
01:10in if he's marrying that chick,
01:12that if he's going to win a third straight Super Bowl.
01:16I mean, he's become like a pop star in essence himself.
01:21Like he went from being a great football player to,
01:25you know, it's all about Taylor Swift.
01:28I thought last year it got, you know, kind of ridiculous.
01:33I mean, I think that the NFL should take a look back,
01:38you know, maybe spend an hour or two
01:41in their conference room taking a look back
01:43at how they let that relationship supersede football.
01:49I mean, it became about showing her
01:52in that luxury suite every week.
01:54I mean, literally the entire football game.
01:56They didn't even show the game.
01:58All they did was show Taylor Swift and Blake Lively
02:02getting drunk in a suite and partying
02:05and having a good time and blowing kisses.
02:08And I thought it got stale in a hurry
02:11and it just wouldn't stop.
02:13And it went all the way to Las Vegas.
02:17It just never ended.
02:18It became about her and not football.
02:22And I think that's embarrassing.
02:24Now, listen, I don't deny she makes billions of dollars.
02:28I don't deny she's got a whole hustle going.
02:31I mean, that is quite the impressive performance.
02:34Her world tour and the money she's hauling in.
02:38God bless her.
02:39I really do, you know, commend her.
02:43But I'll say this, she got nothing to do with football.
02:46Let's stop with the pom-pom stuff.
02:49And can we watch an NFL game
02:51without all the nonsense of that love affair?
02:54I mean, get married already, for Christ's sakes,
02:56if you love each other so much.
02:57Honestly, I'd give a rat's ass about her.
03:00I mean, like I said, she's great at what she does, okay?
03:04But her and football, I mean, what is next?
03:07I mean, what is next?
03:09Skateboarders are going to start playing in the NFL.
03:11What is next?
03:12Break dancing in the NFL?
03:14They've already ruined the Olympics with that.
03:16I mean, what is next?
03:17Can we not spend the entire NFL season
03:20sucking up to Taylor Swift?
03:22I mean, honestly, like I'm a grown,
03:25like, hardcore football fan, old man.
03:28You can say, get off of my yard, man on the porch,
03:32call me whatever you want.
03:33You're tripping if you think I'm wrong.
03:35That is a pain in my ass,
03:37that Taylor Swifty stuff every single Sunday.
03:40I need that like I need a hole in the head, honestly.
03:43Christ almighty, you got enough problem
03:45with your wife and kids screaming at you,
03:47then I got to put up with this chick?
03:48Honestly, I mean it.
03:50You can quote me on all of it too.
03:51I don't give a rat's ass.
03:53I'll get you even more going then.
03:55Did you see the story that I guess
03:57Travis was doing an interview or something?
03:59And he said how she's gotten really into football
04:04and she's even drawing up plays, Scotty.
04:07Did you see that?
04:07She's drawing up plays.
04:09She's worth $50 billion,
04:12but she's drawing up plays for Travis Kelce.
04:16I would rather have the guy in the commercial
04:19that spelled out chefs in the end zone
04:23drawing up plays than Taylor Swift.
04:26Honestly, I can't take it.
04:29I don't care about her sudden fandom with football
04:35and all of the hangers on and lackeys
04:39that suck up to her in that luxury suite.
04:41It's embarrassing.
04:42It really is.
04:44I've had enough of it.
04:48And you know what?
04:49We already went through it once.
04:50We've already been to the altar
04:52with this chick and this guy.
04:54They should have just got married already
04:56so we could be done with the nonsense.
04:58I'm not going to keep repeating myself.
05:00I just can't stand it.
05:02I don't need that.
05:03And this is another reason.
05:04I got to be honest.
05:05It's another reason I hate them.
05:07I hate that team like no other.
05:09Honestly, I'm so sick and tired of them.
05:12I had a...
05:13I told you when I was a kid,
05:14my grandpa painted the Jan Stennerud
05:18on my bedroom wall.
05:19If I still had that Jan Stennerud in my bedroom,
05:22I would graffiti its ass.
05:24I'm so done with the Kansas City Chiefs.
05:26I'd spray paint it.
05:29Honestly, I'd put Coast to Coast,
05:30that logo over it.
05:32Sick and tired.
05:35I told you I hope they lose every game they play.
05:37I hope they lose tomorrow night in Arrowhead.
05:39Screw all their fans though.
05:40It seems like you don't have to worry.
05:42She will be there it sounds like tomorrow night
05:44because the Arrows tour currently is on break
05:48until early October.
05:49So you'll probably get plenty of shots
05:52of Taylor at the Chief Raven opener tomorrow night,
05:55which is still Chiefs minus three, by the way.
05:57Total did go to 47 and a half
06:00since we last spoke yesterday.
06:02What really matters?
06:03The lines of the game.
06:04That's what really matters.
06:05What really matters is that the Ravens
06:09and Lamar Jackson never lose openers.
06:13And they cover every single game.
06:16They win straight up every single game.
06:19And I want them to win with Lamar
06:21and Derrick Henry tomorrow.
06:23You have no idea.
06:24Meanwhile, I hate them too.
06:26And they're in the North
06:27and I hate them more than the Chiefs.
06:29But I hate the Chiefs so much
06:30with two straight Super Bowls
06:32and going to like 40 straight Super Bowls.
06:34Let's go to Friday night's game now
06:36where we spoke about this a little bit.
06:39And I saw a note that the NFL is going to provide
06:42extra security, Scotty, in Brazil
06:46for the Packers and the Eagles
06:48so that nobody's worried.
06:50They've heard the players voice their frustrations
06:53and there's going to be some extra security
06:55so that everybody feels comfortable
06:58down in San Paolo for that game
07:00coming up on Friday night.
07:01Would you think, Mike, that, you know,
07:03honestly, at some level, it's almost as though,
07:06you know, sans what happened to Trump
07:09in Pennsylvania or whatever,
07:13you know, the rally with the kids
07:15shooting him in the ear,
07:16tried to kill him, sans that.
07:18Is that not like, you know,
07:21the NFL and San Paolo
07:23and those two NFL teams
07:25and their respective hotels, et cetera,
07:28where they're staying,
07:29would that not truly be the safest place
07:33to be in, like, the entire country of Brazil
07:38on Friday night?
07:39And the fact that they're going to have,
07:42like, I mean, literally armies of guys
07:45with, you know, submachine guns
07:48and army and military and police.
07:52They're going to be all over those hotels
07:54and all over those NFL teams
07:57and all over those buses
07:59and all over those convoys to the stadium
08:03from the hotels.
08:04Like, it'd be the last place in the world
08:06you'd want to be like,
08:07hey, I think I'm going to go over
08:08and start killing some people.
08:10You know, honestly, you got to pick your spots.
08:13I would think that it'd be the safest place
08:15on earth tomorrow night.
08:16Now, I'm not talking about after the game,
08:19leaving the hotel,
08:21trying to go down to, you know,
08:23the barrio to have a beverage in Brazil
08:26and San Paolo.
08:27That's probably not a good idea.
08:28But when you're with the team,
08:30I think they have absolutely
08:31nothing to worry about.
08:32And I wouldn't have brought my families
08:34either to San Paolo
08:37because it really is hell on earth.
08:40I mean, I have it's inexplicable
08:42how they're having,
08:44frankly, an NFL game there.
08:46And to be honest,
08:48I'm surprised that they pulled off
08:49the Olympics there
08:50without a bunch of people being murdered
08:52and robbed and raped and shanked
08:54and kidnapped and sold into slavery
08:57and, you know, sex traffic and narcotics.
09:01What don't they have down there
09:02with problems in Brazil?
09:04Let's get real here for a second.
09:06It's a mess.
09:07That place is an absolute hellhole.
09:09It's a mess.
09:10And you can quote me on that, though.
09:12It's no different than me
09:13talking about Oakland, California.
09:16On the field, of course,
09:18the Eagles will get to debut
09:21their newest weapon,
09:21running back Saquon Barkley,
09:23who came over from the New York Giants
09:26in the offseason.
09:26Head coach Nick Sirianni,
09:28very excited to have Barkley
09:30on his team.
09:31I mean, he made a run at practice yesterday,
09:33and I just remember
09:34I was wearing sunglasses.
09:36It was sunny.
09:36I was just kind of looking,
09:38taking my sunglasses off
09:39and looking at a couple of coaches.
09:40I'm like, all right, this is awesome
09:43that we that we got him here,
09:44not only for the play
09:45that he brings to the field
09:47and the cut that he made yesterday
09:48at practice,
09:50but also his leadership
09:51and the person.
09:52What about when he's gone for a month
09:54every year and he takes his vacation
09:57in the middle of the season?
09:58He's like Giancarlo Stanton.
10:01He gets that month long Caribbean trip
10:03and then every year
10:04in the middle of the season.
10:05I don't have any stock
10:08in this guy's ability to play every game.
10:10It's not happening.
10:11He's always injured.
10:12I mean, that's why
10:15they don't want to admit it,
10:16but that's why they wouldn't
10:18give him the money.
10:19They just don't think
10:20he's worth the money
10:21because he misses five,
10:22six games a year.
10:23It's just automatic.
10:26He's just not.
10:27That's for sure.
10:28He misses a lot of games,
10:30a lot of games.
10:30I did want to update you on this, too.
10:33I told you Harper got hit
10:34in the elbow in his first at-bat.
10:37He left the game, Scotty.
10:39First hit for him
10:40in his second time around.
10:41So that is not a good sign.
10:43Hopefully nothing serious
10:45for Bryce Harper.
10:47Opening the door for the Diamondbacks
10:49and Padres and Mets.
10:51Opening the door for everybody else.
10:54That on Friday night
10:55is still the other Philadelphia team,
10:57the Eagles are still minus two and a half
10:59with a 49 and a half total.
11:03I gotta tell you,
11:04I know we're going to do this more on Friday
11:06when we talk about
11:06what we like in the game.
11:08It just smells like an under to me,
11:10Scotty, honestly.
11:11That 49 and a half.
11:13I think it's going to be
11:14like all these other
11:15international games.
11:17It's going to be slow.
11:18I don't think the guys
11:19are going to be right.
11:21I think they're going to be looking
11:21to get the hell out of there.
11:23It just doesn't feel like a game
11:25that's going to be 35-31.
11:26It feels more like a game
11:27that's going to be 17-13.
11:29I agree that I think it's an under,
11:33but look,
11:35my favorite part of it
11:36is watching Kaplan yesterday
11:39with his homerized milk toast ass
11:42just constantly nobbing the Eagles.
11:44I mean, this guy,
11:45he does the Eagles pregame show.
11:48He comes on here.
11:49He would pick the Eagles
11:50to win every game,
11:51every week,
11:52every year over every team in the league.
11:55He's once again picking him
11:57to win the division.
11:59And this is a team that lost
12:01six of seven to close it out.
12:02They should have fired Sirianni.
12:05They went and got that broken down
12:07Barkley from the Giants.
12:08And then they got a guy
12:11from Washington that they didn't want.
12:13Their receiver that they drafted
12:14from Penn State, Dotson,
12:16they didn't even want him.
12:17They owe him seven million.
12:18They're like, here, you take him.
12:19We don't want him.
12:20He sucks.
12:21But then they immediately
12:22come out and say,
12:23we have the best receiving
12:24core in the NFL.
12:25I don't buy their quarterback.
12:28I don't buy their coach.
12:30I don't buy them.
12:32I don't buy them to win the East.
12:35I still think Dallas is better than them.
12:37Three straight 12 win seasons.
12:39And he thinks they suck.
12:41At least I come right out with it.
12:42My Steelers suck.
12:43OK, we'll stay with the NFL.
12:45How about Mike Tomlin?
12:46First time we're going to hear from him
12:48on a game week this season
12:50as we head into week number one.
12:52The Steelers will be in Atlanta
12:55against the Falcons
12:56to kick off their season on Sunday.
12:58A very new look offense for the Steelers.
13:02What does Mike Tomlin expect
13:03out of them this season?
13:04I'm not interested in making
13:05you comfortable today,
13:06to be quite honest with you.
13:07Those are just words.
13:08And really, at the end of the day,
13:09it's somewhat meaningless.
13:11We'll have an opportunity
13:12to put some tape out there this weekend.
13:14That's kind of reflective
13:15of that discussion.
13:16I'm more of a doer than a talker.
13:19Talking glowingly,
13:20particularly when you're undefeated.
13:21This time of year is easy
13:23and I'm not attracted to easy.
13:26We're just going to work.
13:27We're going to put some tape out there
13:28that's kind of reflective
13:29of our intentions.
13:31I mean, this guy, he really is.
13:34He's grumpy on his birthday.
13:36I mean, he is.
13:38You couldn't make that guy
13:39happy or smile.
13:40I don't even know what makes him click,
13:42but he just hates the media.
13:45He hates answering questions.
13:48I mean, he's just grumpy stiltskin.
13:50He just doesn't.
13:52He's not going to give you
13:54any information.
13:55Like, if you want to try
13:56to pry anything out of Mike,
13:58he's been doing this too long.
14:00It might work on some rookie head coach
14:02or a second year ago
14:03where, you know, they like to give
14:04and they want to talk a little bit more.
14:06Mike Tomlin's been doing this for too long.
14:08He's not giving you a thing.
14:12Here's another thought for you, Mike.
14:15Mike Tomlin, he doesn't win playoff games.
14:19He wins regular season games
14:20that don't matter.
14:23He got a ring because of Ben Roethlisberger.
14:26He didn't get a ring
14:27because he did anything fantastic.
14:29And he is literally a coaching disaster
14:34in playoff games.
14:36I mean, every time they go, they lose.
14:38I mean, they're an automatic loss
14:40in the playoffs as much as Dallas is.
14:43So I won't deny that he
14:47never had a losing season.
14:50Congratulations.
14:50What has it got him?
14:52I mean, thank God he got the ring
14:54because I think that's a miracle in itself
14:58that he has a ring.
15:00And I'm going to say this.
15:01I think he's been their kind of coach in Pittsburgh.
15:05They've always had that with Knoll
15:07and Cower and this guy.
15:10But he is no Chuck Knoll.
15:12Let me be very clear.
15:14He is no Chuck Knoll.
15:17I have to repeat that slowly for idiots.
15:20But believe me, you, that guy can't coach
15:23like Chuck Knoll coached.
15:24I'm sorry.
15:25Chuck Knoll, when he took over the Steelers,
15:28they were the worst team in the NFL.
15:31And then they got Joe Green in the draft.
15:34And Chuck Knoll and that front office
15:36built a Super Bowl championship dynasty
15:40that won four Super Bowls in six years.
15:43And Mike Tomlin will never,
15:45hell will freeze over before Mike Tomlin
15:48ever sniffs four Super Bowls in six years.
15:52He'll go to four Super Bowls in six years
15:54when he's not coaching anymore.
15:57No doubt.
15:58For as far as Sunday goes,
16:00still three and a half for this game.
16:02Three and a half the Steelers are getting.
16:0542 and a half is the total.
16:08I will tell you, Scotty,
16:09they're just hanging that half out there
16:13for me.
16:14And I'm very intrigued by it for the Steelers.
16:16That half to go along with that three
16:19is making me think about it.
16:21My buddy down there said,
16:23we have Art Smith now.
16:24So that's why we're going to lose.
16:26The Steelers are going to lose
16:28because they have Art Smith.
16:29Art Smith did such a great job coaching the Falcons.
16:33But as I've said,
16:35you can think whatever you want of my team.
16:37Say whatever you want.
16:38That's fine.
16:38They have, they're already favored for nothing.
16:41They're favored to be last place in the North.
16:44And then I know there's a lot of liabilities
16:47with the Steelers
16:47and there's a lot of tickets on the Steelers.
16:49But just so we're clear,
16:51the Falcons have never recovered
16:53from their Super Bowl gag on a spoon.
16:56Their gag on a spoon in the Super Bowl.
16:58They have never come back from the dead.
17:01They're dead to me.
17:02I mean, they'll never recover from that.
17:04They'll never live it down.
17:06And Kirk Cousins, Mike Panics, Jesus Christ.
17:11I don't care who it is.
17:12They will never recover from that.
17:14And I say the Lions won't recover
17:15from last year against the Niners either.
17:18So I'll take the Steelers in Atlanta.
17:20Yes, Brian Dable and the Giants
17:22coming into a very critical year number three
17:25of his reign there.
17:26Of course, Mike Kafka has been the OC
17:28for him the last few years as well.
17:31The big question around the Giants
17:33this entire off season is,
17:35will Dable be calling the plays this year, Scotty?
17:38He has not been willing to divulge
17:40that information to the media,
17:42despite being asked 6,000 times.
17:45Well, yesterday he decided
17:46to change his mind on that.
17:47The perception of the play calling is that,
17:50you know, if you're going to do it,
17:52you say, I'm going to put it in my own hands.
17:54I got, you know, this is what I did
17:55to get myself here.
17:56I want to be in charge of that.
17:58What do you make of that?
17:59Yeah, like I said before,
18:00we're getting ready to play the Vikings.
18:02We've talked about that.
18:03We'll do everything we do to get ready to play.
18:06You never really talked about it, though.
18:08You never said if you're definitely doing it or not.
18:10Yeah, I'm doing it.
18:13He just said it, I'm doing it.
18:15I'm doing it.
18:16So that's all you need to know right there.
18:18He's calling the plays.
18:19And that's another step towards,
18:21you know, if things go bad this year again,
18:25that's just something else that,
18:26well, who are you firing now?
18:28You called the plays this year.
18:29Like you can't, what's the next thing?
18:32The last time, Mike, that he called plays,
18:34they went to the playoffs and they won.
18:37So I thought he was great in that Tennessee game, remember?
18:40And they went for it with Barkley on fourth down.
18:44And listen, I think they're better off
18:46having him call the plays and being responsible.
18:49Look, when they hired him and Joe Shane from Buffalo,
18:54you would have thought they'd hired their saviors, right?
18:57These guys are the saviors of the Giants franchise.
19:02These two brilliant football minds.
19:04Well, Joe Shane's not going to be calling the plays
19:07from up in his luxury suite.
19:09So it's got to be day ball as far as I'm concerned.
19:12They've already tried everything else and none of it worked.
19:15None of it worked indeed.
19:17The Giants are home dogs coming up this week, Scotty.
19:21Not many of those on the slate this week,
19:24but the Giants are home dogs getting one and a half,
19:2841 and a half is the total.
19:29Of course, Sam Darnold will be at the helm for Minnesota
19:33this week.
19:35I mean, honestly, how can Daniel Jones and neighbors
19:39and the Giants screw this up any worse?
19:42You're at Snoopy.
19:44You're at home.
19:45It's going to be 75 degrees and sunny.
19:48Perfect day.
19:49Home opener.
19:50You got to win the game.
19:51I am not afraid of Sam Darnold or the Vikings for that matter.
19:57The only guy they got on that team is Jefferson.
19:59Fair enough.
20:00Can Darnold get him the ball?
20:02There's your game right there.
20:04Will they be able to connect?
20:06Darnold and Jefferson.
20:07If they don't connect, they won't win.
20:09I'll tell you, I kind of like the Giants on Sunday, Scotty.
20:15I think I'm in on the Giants.
20:17I'm on the Giants this week at home for whatever.
20:21I think they're going to start strong.
20:23They've beaten that team too.
20:24I know it was a couple years ago,
20:27but I'm going to back Daniel Jones.
20:29They're not that good.
20:31They're not like, what are we talking about here?
20:34I mean, they're barely better than the Bears.
20:38Right.
20:39No, it's very true.
20:41Very true.
20:42The Niners, of course, have gotten all their guys back in the mix.
20:45We told you yesterday, Trent Williams, Brandon Ayuk.
20:48Everybody's going to be good to go.
20:50Here is Trent Williams, Scotty.
20:52Of course, he just showed up there.
20:54He was a holdout.
20:55Got his 80 plus million restructured deal, etc.
20:59Here he is.
20:59He's very glad that all the negotiations are over with the 49er brass.
21:04Are you adding up the fines ever in your head?
21:07No.
21:09No, I try not to think about it.
21:11You know, it's kind of one of the things where you kind of know you're going to leverage it.
21:14You're going to...
21:15It's what, you know, for lack of a better word, it's kind of war.
21:19Both sides are going to lose a little blood.
21:20But, you know, the way the white flag at the end,
21:23we both signed a little peace treaty, we good.
21:27So a little peace treaty.
21:28That means, you know, he's open to doing it again down the road.
21:31A little peace treaty.
21:32Well, listen, he understands.
21:36He said leverage.
21:37And you know what the leverage is?
21:39Is that he's the best tackle in the NFL.
21:45When you're the best player at your position in the entire league,
21:51let alone your own team, you can do whatever you want in the summer,
21:57which includes laying on a raft in your pool naked with a cocktail in your hand
22:04and smoking a gigantic Cohiba or a Doobie.
22:08Who wants to go to that stupid ass training camp,
22:10which is a gigantic, colossal waste of time for everyone involved.
22:14When you're the best player in the league at your position,
22:17you can make a phone call and go,
22:18I'm not coming.
22:19I want more money.
22:21And if I don't get it, I'm not playing.
22:23And it works every time.
22:26When you're the best at what you do, you can force the hand of any team in sports.
22:33It does not matter what sport we're talking about here.
22:35If you're the best at what you do,
22:38you will get your money one way or another in today's professional sports.
22:43And this guy had them by the onions.
22:46They had no choice but to give him a raise.
22:49First of all, look at the size of him.
22:51I mean, the guy is literally bigger than the Empire State Building.
22:54And he can do whatever he wants and no one's going to do anything about it.
22:58I saw that guy get in a fight with another team by himself.
23:02And the other team all backed up.
23:05And they all backed off and went the other direction,
23:08knowing that he came into the mix and was going to start shredding ass.
23:13He is a guy that people are afraid of.
23:16And when you have that much juice,
23:18you can do and eat and sleep with whoever you want.
23:21Deebo Samuel did rework his contract as part of making all of this money work.
23:27Who aren't they giving money to in the last week?
23:30A lot of money, a lot of money.
23:32They had to move around to make all of these deals work.
23:35I'm surprised they're not paying for the guy that shot Piers Saul's legal fees.
23:39They've been giving everybody money all week.
23:42See how nice they are?
23:44The Niners are minus four and a half on Monday night now
23:48against the Jets.
23:50Forty three and a half is the total for this game.
23:53So we did see that move quite a bit after both Aiyuk and William Scottie
23:57were back in the fold before the game.
23:59They just have to open up and spank the Jets on national television.
24:04Yes.
24:05On Monday night football.
24:06And the gang green are going to fly out to California and do what?
24:12Lay an egg is what they're going to do.
24:14The Niners are going to beat them.
24:16I think so, too.
24:17I think the Niners are going to beat them as well.
24:19I do going to give you this.
24:20I got a lot of numbers for you today about week one.
24:23I got lots of different trends and numbers and lots of stuff to make you think about this week.
24:29Here's one for this game.
24:31Since 2000, this is a long time, 25 years almost,
24:35the loser of the Super Bowl, which the 49ers are,
24:38ATS in week number one the following season,
24:42five and 19 against the number as they have the quote unquote
24:47Super Bowl hangover to start the year.
24:50Carver High.
24:52It's unbelievable.
24:53So the Jets made a move as well, right?
24:56They they inked Carter to a deal.
25:00Yes, their cornerback, Michael Carter, three year extension up to 33 million.
25:04So more defensive back money being held up today.
25:08He's very good.
25:09Very good slot corner for the Jets who have,
25:12hey, we've heard it from Adam and everyone else.
25:15Best defense in the league, right?
25:17I mean, best defense in the league, the Jets.
25:20So they just needed a quarterback.
25:22It's all they needed.
25:23And so they start playing all those guys.
25:25I have been hearing this for literally 25 years.
25:32And I've been hearing that the Jets are going to win the Super Bowl every year,
25:36every every single year in all of July, August and September.
25:40All I hear about is the Jets have the greatest defense on Earth.
25:44And on paper, this is the greatest team on Earth.
25:48And then they always lay an egg.
25:51I mean, it's just it's always and I mean, in bold capital letters,
25:57A-L-W-A-Y-S, all bold capital letters.
26:00You know, the guy that texts you in bold letters,
26:03you're like, what's wrong with this guy?
26:04He's all mad at me.
26:06He's texting in bold.
26:07That's that's the Jets always texting in bold how big and tough they are.
26:12Oh, the greatest team on Earth.
26:14Greatest team on paper, paper champions.
26:18And then they turn into chumps.
26:19They're like Cinderella.
26:21I mean, it's honestly, I mean,
26:25I mean, it's honestly, I can't wait for the inevitable crash and burn.
26:29And it's always something.
26:31It's all it last year was his Achilles.
26:34I mean, we all know I'm talking about Aaron Rodgers.
26:36And I'm not going to sit here and do this Aaron Rodgers stuff every week.
26:42Like, what is Aaron saying this week on Pat's show?
26:46And what is Aaron thinking?
26:47Is Aaron going on a dark retreat?
26:49Is Aaron eating mushrooms?
26:52I don't give a crap about that nonsense every single day, every week.
26:59I mean, this guy to me, he's old.
27:02And I can't wait to see him go down the other side of the mountain.
27:06He still thinks he's winning Super Bowls.
27:07It's been so long since he won a Super Bowl.
27:10He's fully gray now.
27:11Like, I mean, he's a touch of gray.
27:13He's the Grateful Dead.
27:14Honestly, he looks like Bob Weary so old.
27:18More injury stuff for you from around the league from today.
27:22At least stuff that's trickled out.
27:23Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts dealing with a hamstring injury.
27:27He was limited at practice today.
27:29Raheem Morris didn't seem too upset about it.
27:33So we'll see what happens with Kyle.
27:35Here's another guy.
27:36Here's another guy that they have ruined in Atlanta.
27:39Here's a guy, one of the best, most talented players ever that they ever got their hands
27:46on in the draft.
27:47And then they don't give him the ball.
27:50They don't throw him the ball.
27:52So they have all these guys.
27:55He's one of them for sure, right?
27:57He's like the main one.
27:58And then London.
27:59And I mean, they have all these great players that and how about their running back?
28:04Bijan Mustard.
28:05They don't even give him the ball.
28:07I mean, it is just unbelievable watching that franchise screw everything up.
28:12I mean, the only thing they've done right.
28:15Ever is that velour sport coat that Arthur Blank wears around at the Super Bowl.
28:20Now, that is just fantastic.
28:23I mean, I'm thinking of getting a velour sport coat this year, Carver High.
28:27And you're a big sport coat guy.
28:28You got some of the best blazers ever.
28:30What do you think, Carver High?
28:32We need to get you a, I'm thinking we need to get you a, because you got the green lock
28:36of the Irishman.
28:37I'm thinking you need a green velour leprechaun blazer.
28:42I would absolutely wear it if it was given to me.
28:45I would wear it in a heartbeat.
28:46I love stuff like that.
28:47I know you would.
28:49Jameer Gibbs says he's 98 to 100% ready to go for week one for the Lions after, of course,
28:55hurting his hamstring in training camp a couple of weeks ago.
28:58So everybody thought that was gonna be a long-term thing.
29:00He says he's about 100% and he's ready to go Sunday night for the Rams and the Lions.
29:06More numbers for you, Scotty.
29:07Jared Goff, week number one, 7-0 against the spread in his career.
29:14Your boy loves week number one, if you remember, even last year on the opening Thursday night
29:19game in Kansas City against the Chiefs.
29:23Well, I mean, how can you buck that trend?
29:26He never loses openers, 7-0, and he gets it done and covers.
29:33I guess the bye's to the Lions at Ford Field on whatever it is, Sunday.
29:38When is the game?
29:39Is it a day game?
29:40That's the Sunday night game.
29:42That is the primetime game on Sunday night, a rematch of that playoff game from a year ago
29:47where the Rams were in Detroit against the Lions.
29:50So we'll be having that again.
29:52The Bill's named DeMar Hamlin their starter at safety.
29:55So unbelievable story, Scotty.
29:57Of course, a year and a half removed from collapsing on that field in Cincinnati.
30:02He will now be a starter on the Bill's defense this coming week.
30:07And this has nothing to do with DeMar.
30:09That's, I don't think that's a great thing because I don't see, I just don't think he's
30:12that good, Scotty.
30:13So that makes me a little nervous.
30:15It is unbelievable to me that this guy, all right, first of all, he died.
30:20Great story.
30:22Great story.
30:23He died and then he came back from the dead like Jesus.
30:26And then, and then like everybody spent a year feeling sorry for him, which I guess
30:32he had coming.
30:34And then, and then I had open heart surgery and everybody felt sorry for me for about
30:39a day or two.
30:40And then they're like, we really don't like you.
30:42It's amazing to me that after his feel sorry for you window closed, that they actually
30:48gave him a starting job again.
30:50Because I thought like last year when we realized he didn't matter anymore in the NFL, we were
30:56done with DeMar Hamlin.
30:58I almost fell over when I saw he was still on the bills.
31:01And then I, you know, tripped and fell and chipped a tooth when I saw he was starting.
31:06He's now starting.
31:07I thought like, so at the very least, we're not supposed to make like, you know, feel
31:11sorry for him anymore, are we?
31:13We don't have to like feel sorry for him anymore and do the whole like, cause that was like
31:17a year and a half long to feel sorry for you window.
31:20I didn't get any kind of window like that.
31:22I got, we never liked you.
31:23We wish you would have died.
31:25Listen, I'm all for good stories as well.
31:28You know that.
31:29But this is pain day on Sunday.
31:31Okay.
31:32There's no more feel good stories.
31:33If I watch Marvin Harrison Jr run over you over the top for a touchdown on Sunday, that's
31:39a no good.
31:39That's a no go for me.
31:41So that's great that you're out there.
31:44Now you got to perform.
31:45That's how it goes.
31:46If you give me a start in safety, Buffalo Bills, him and rap, Hyde and Poyer are gone.
31:50You got to show up with your lunch bill and play.
31:52That's it, baby.
31:53I don't want to hear about it.
31:54Hyde and Poyer are gone.
31:55You said the magic words.
31:57They must be so desperate and they are so thin, the Buffalo Bills, that that's who they're
32:03starting now.
32:04And they let the money guys go.
32:06I don't think the Bills are going to be as good as everybody thinks they are.
32:09We talked about this with Gabe already a little bit earlier, but I did see the Stefan Diggs
32:14stuff about he wasn't in a great mental space and it was, you know, I wanted out or nobody
32:22threw me out in anywhere I've been.
32:24And he had a lot of things to say, Scotty.
32:27Here's what I'll say about it.
32:28I'm just tired of it.
32:29I'm tired of listening to this dude.
32:31Just go, go catch footballs in Houston.
32:33Go and try.
32:34I think you're, you're, you're fed up with him.
32:37You've had enough of him because when he was in Buffalo, he was a cancer.
32:42I don't care what anybody says.
32:43He constantly threw temper tantrums and blamed people, finger pointing, yelling, screaming
32:49on the sideline at his quarterback, at his coaches.
32:53I think he's just an absolute top shelf narcissist, pain in the ass.
32:59And I think he's going to go down to Houston and do the exact same thing when he doesn't
33:04get targeted enough.
33:06He wants the ball on every single pass thrown to him and no one else.
33:11And that's what his problem is.
33:13He doesn't believe in anyone else.
33:15He's not a teammate.
33:16He's a, he's a me guy.
33:18He's all about I, I, me, me, me.
33:20Give me the ball.
33:22And is there anything worse on a team than a guy that doesn't want to be a real teammate?
33:26Well, look, I'll always say this about Diggs.
33:29And at the end, that is absolutely what it became.
33:32I cannot deny when he came to Buffalo and those first few years, he was awesome.
33:39And he absolutely made Josh Allen a better quarterback.
33:42And he made him better.
33:44And I think the trade worked from that aspect, Scotty.
33:47But you're right.
33:48It always runs its course with him.
33:50And it did.
33:51And it was time to move on.
33:53Thankful for what he did.
33:54But I'm tired of it now.
33:56It's just, we got to move on from it.
33:58And I'm tired of stories too.
33:58I think people are, they're fed up with it as well.
34:02And it's not going to continue.
34:03I do not believe.
34:05No.
34:05Once the season starts.
34:07Uh, you know, I don't think that Houston's coaching staff and Ryan's is going to put
34:12up with that.
34:12I think at some point they're going to be like, listen, dude, I mean, those days are
34:16over the days of you screaming and yelling at people, uh, and pointing fingers on the
34:22sideline and having temper tantrums.
34:24Uh, you know, another guy that was that way, in my opinion, was Beckham.
34:28I thought the entire time that Beckham played with the New York Giants, uh, he was a cancer
34:34and a distraction and a problem and a team wrecker.
34:39And I think that's what digs became in Buffalo, a team wrecker.
34:43No doubt.
34:44Uh, of course the Texans, his new team will play the Colts on Sunday to kick off their
34:49season.
34:50I told you, I got lots of numbers today.
34:52Colts against the spread in week.
34:54Number one, since 2008, one 14 and one ATS.
35:00I think you sent me this one too, last night after I saw it one 14 and one, the Colts in
35:06week.
35:06Number one.
35:08Well, first of all, you know, I thought Steichen did a really good job with that team last
35:14year.
35:14And I thought Minshew did as well.
35:16So, uh, you know, Minshew's gone.
35:20Richardson's back.
35:21We don't know if that, you know, fruit is, uh, is juicy or if it's rotten.
35:29We don't know if it's, you know, if the lime you cut it open, if it's got red marks in
35:33it, I'm telling you this guy, we have no clue what he's going to be after his problems and
35:39his shoulder and everything else.
35:41And I just don't think they're that good of a football team.
35:45And I think, uh, D'Amico's got himself a loaded gun.
35:49I think the Texans are good.
35:51They proved it last year.
35:53They just seem like a team.
35:55That's, you know, not just a good, but they're on the up.
35:58They're like, you know, they're getting better.
36:01I mean, last year was the very beginning, the essence of the beginning of the fruits
36:05of their labor, all of their drafting, all of their trades, all of their movement has
36:12been dedicated toward this moment.
36:14And they've already shown that they can win.
36:16Now they have to do it again and prove that it's real.
36:19I think they're better than the Colts hands down.
36:21They go in there and win.
36:23Uh, I think they are too.
36:24And, uh, look, Anthony Richardson got hurt last year.
36:27Didn't finish the season.
36:29I thought he looked a little spotty.
36:31This guy, they played him a lot in the preseason.
36:32He threw some bad picks on that awful pick six against the Bengals.
36:36I think he's an exciting player, but we got a lot more to see from Anthony Richardson
36:41before we start putting the Colts.
36:42I'll give him this.
36:42He's a great athlete.
36:44And that's about it.
36:45The Chargers, of course, have a new coach.
36:47You sent me that big article about Jim Harbaugh and changing the culture for the Chargers.
36:54I know you're very excited.
36:56I don't know if it's going to be this year, but I guess it's possible.
36:59He's won everywhere he's been, Scotty.
37:01He will eventually turn them around.
37:03Listen, I just, uh, you know, I am not, as you know, I always respected Al Davis.
37:10He's a Titan.
37:11My favorite all time.
37:13But I hate the Raiders.
37:14And I always have.
37:16And there's nothing I enjoy more than watching them lose.
37:19And I want to see Jim Harbaugh beat them in his opener in Lipstick City at SoFi.
37:25And that's just all there is to it.
37:27Every year, you know, and I got my buddies that do Raiders pre and post and that are
37:32they host every Raiders show in Vegas.
37:35The Raiders, this Raiders, that the Raiders, all the Raiders, the vaunted Raiders, all
37:40the Raiders.
37:41And then the Raiders suck just every year, every year.
37:45And I mean, they're like, oh, this guy won three or four games.
37:48We'll give him the head coaching job.
37:49He's never coached before.
37:50We'll give him the job.
37:51Remember when they won all those games and they wouldn't give the interim coach the job,
37:54but they gave this guy the job.
37:56They stink.
37:58And I love watching them lose.
37:59They're going to lose again this week.
38:02Uh, yeah.
38:03And Jim Harbaugh is on my list that I have for you.
38:05The best active coaches against the spread in week number one.
38:10Remember, Jim's been in the NFL before.
38:12And he's 4-0 against the number in week number one.
38:16Now, his brother's 12-4 against the number in week number one.
38:21McVay is 6-1.
38:22Campbell and McDaniel both also undefeated against the spread in week one.
38:27So there you go.
38:28That's a pro Jim Harbaugh.
38:30I actually think, look at that picture again.
38:32You could actually be fooled into believing that that picture is Marty Schottenheimer
38:38and not Jim Harbaugh.
38:40You could actually, you could actually pull that off, I think, right there.
38:44I think you could, believe it or not, if we did that.
38:48All the Harbaugh's are winning this week, including their old man.
38:51He might be involved in some kind of bocce ball or pickleball, maybe some shuffleboard.
38:58Something might be going on with the senior.
39:00They all win.
39:00The Harbaugh family, nothing but winners.
39:03Nothing but winners.
39:04Of course, if I give you the best coaches in week number one,
39:07I have to give you the worst as well to go along with it.
39:11Mike Tomlin, 8-9.
39:13Well, when you coach 17 years in the league,
39:16you're eventually going to get a couple of losses.
39:18Tomlin, 8-9 against the spread.
39:20Sean Payton, 7-9.
39:22Zach Taylor, Kyle Shanahan.
39:24Dan Quinn, 1-5 from back in his days in Atlanta.
39:27You would be surprised to realize, I will bet my life that most coaches,
39:32I've said this to you before, at the end of the day,
39:34they'll coach for five years and they'll be lucky if they break 500.
39:38They'll be lucky if they have a winning record in five years in the NFL
39:43because the NFL is all about parity.
39:45It's all about everybody's on the level playing field
39:49and every year somebody can win and do well.
39:52The reality of it, it's only the Chiefs do well in the NFL, no one else.
40:00I already told you what I thought of Tomlin.
40:02Tomlin wins every game that doesn't matter.
40:06So he's 8-9, I'm surprised.
40:10He wins games that don't matter.
40:12Opening day matters.
40:13He doesn't win those.
40:14He doesn't win playoff games.
40:16Let's face facts.
40:17I mean, there are people, and I like him.
40:20Don't get me wrong.
40:21Don't be misconstruing what I'm saying.
40:24He's the perfect coach for the Roonies.
40:26I mean, their father, their grandfather, that's how they ran the Steelers.
40:30They've had four coaches.
40:32They don't want a change.
40:34They don't listen to the media and they really don't listen to fans.
40:38They just pretend like they do.
40:40What they want from you is to raise the ticket prices every year
40:45and to sell you merchandise and liquor and food and booze
40:48and everything else at the games and make money.
40:51They're a lot like the Steinbrenners in that we're satisfied
40:55if we can just make the playoffs because we'll make so much money.
40:58I already got an email from the Steelers yesterday.
41:01Yesterday, I got an email.
41:02They want to force me to buy playoff tickets
41:04and they haven't even played a game yet.
41:06They're like, you opt in and then once you opt in, you cannot opt out.
41:11You have to buy them no matter what.
41:13They're forcing me to buy playoff tickets.
41:15When do the Steelers play home playoff games anymore?
41:19When hell freezes over is when they play at home in the playoffs.
41:23It really is one of the ultimate scams that these teams run.
41:27The Steelers aren't the only ones who do it.
41:30I have friends, of course, that have Islander tickets, giant tickets,
41:32and they do the same thing.
41:34They make you buy the playoff tickets before the season even starts
41:38and then they say to you when they don't make it,
41:40well, we're just going to put that towards your deposit for next year.
41:43So that way they keep you.
41:45They keep you.
41:45The money's already there and then at the end of the year,
41:48if you're even thinking or considering not renewing,
41:52they've already got my X amount that I gave for those playoff tickets.
41:56I might as well just go the whole way now
41:59and stick around.
41:59I told you I'm going to that game, right?
42:02I'm going to their home opener in three weeks against Jim Harbaugh.
42:06So I'm flying in there.
42:07I'm staying there.
42:08I'm going to the game.
42:09It is happening.
42:10I will say to you that I have discussed,
42:13I have had the conversation even with myself and others
42:18as to why I keep these tickets.
42:20I've had them for 60 years in my family
42:24and I rue the day I get rid of them
42:28because you'll never get them again.
42:30You'll never have season tickets again.
42:32There's a waiting list until the apocalypse
42:35to get Steeler tickets, season tickets, right?
42:38But the thing is, my problem is I don't live there.
42:42And my second problem is why would I ever retire there,
42:46to be honest with you?
42:47I mean, it is another one of these,
42:49you know, I was going to drop a bomb right there.
42:50It is a completely shacky place to live with the weather.
42:54It's like living in Buffalo.
42:56It's like living in Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh.
42:58I mean, it really is miserable.
43:00I mean, you think it's bad here at Carver High?
43:02It's way worse there.
43:04Snow belt, snow, lake effect, snow.
43:06Buffalo's way worse than New York City.
43:09Syracuse, way worse.
43:10Pittsburgh, way worse.
43:12Cleveland, way worse.
43:13Like, why do I want to retire somewhere
43:15where it snows all winter for eight months?
43:17And then in the summer, it's hotter than Haiti and humid.
43:20And then what?
43:21So I can have Steeler tickets?
43:23I have had the thought cross my mind,
43:25believe me, to sell those things.
43:26Like, every time I go, I drop five grand.
