00:00Hi, my name is Sam Klein, Digital Report for the Lancashire Post, and come with me as I'm going to eat at RK Dining.
00:07The restaurant, located on Plungington Road in Preston, was the stand-alone winner for the Cafe category for the Good Food Awards last year for Central Lancashire, winning also the Blue Ribbon Award.
00:23Formerly known as RK Suites, it has been a vegetarian hotspot since 2018, offering authentic Indian cuisine that is purely vegetarian, with some vegan options available too.
00:35Upon entering RK Dining, I saw that the premises was divided into two halves. The left side is given to the booming takeaway business, while the right side has seating for customers who will prefer to eat in, so I found a table and sat down to look at the menu.
00:58Taking in the nice decor and vibe of RK Dining, I looked at the menu and it was extensive, especially as everything is vegetarian or vegan. Dishes are divided into groups such as street food, Indo-Chinese and traditional dishes.
01:13Due to the size of the menu, I didn't know what to get, so I asked for the waiter's recommendation, and they said they were famous for the Punjabi samosas. These were filled with spiced potatoes, mixed vegetables and onions, and they were delicious. With a side of mint yoghurt on the side, it really complimented the dish and was a great deal, £4 for 4, so I really enjoyed these.
01:38Next up on the side were a portion of masala chips. These were fries tossed in a special spicy sauce made by RK Dining. These were okay, nothing too special. I think the sauce drowned them out, but still nice to have on the side, definitely.
01:57And the main event, which was the masala paneer. Now I'm usually used to having some meat in my curry, but this was a combination of light peppers, tomatoes, onions and lightly fried golden cubes of paneer, and it was beautiful. It came with three portions of roti and really capped off a great meal. And overall, I can tell why it won its Good Food Award last year.
