00:00The search and rescue operation for the Indian national who fell into an 8-metre deep sinkhole
00:07on Jalan Masjid India has been halted today.
00:11Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaleha Mustafa said this, adding that the decision was made
00:16based on the input given by all parties involved in the operation, including experts.
00:21She cited safety concerns for the fire and rescue team after a 15-metre blockage was
00:27found in an Indah Water Consortium Sdn Bhd pipeline recently.
00:31Another factor considered, she said, is the concern over the safety of the surrounding
00:35areas, such as the discovery of another sinkhole near the first sinkhole.
00:39Zaleha said Kuala Lumpur City Hall will now hand the matter over to the police to decide
00:44on the next course of action.
00:46DBKL will also carry out a mapping of underground utilities, as well as a review of the soil
00:52structure across the capital, she said.
00:55Zaleha said a full report on the incident will be tabled before the Cabinet.
