00:00The management of Mid-Valley Megamall has launched investigations after a shopper yesterday
00:07claimed that parts of an escalator at the mall malfunctioned and popped out.
00:13IGB Real Estate Investment Trust apologized over the incident and stressed it would ensure
00:18all precautionary measures were implemented to resolve the matter as soon as possible
00:23to prevent future occurrences.
00:26It said it would work closely with the Occupational Health and Safety Department
00:31and their maintenance operator, Toshiba Elevator Sundarian Berhad,
00:35to identify the cause of the malfunction.
00:38Yesterday, FMT reported that a posting on social media platform Xiaohongshu
00:43told of how the shopper heard a sudden loud noise upon stepping on the escalator
00:48and saw parts popping out.
00:51The shopper and others quickly ran back down the escalator.
00:55No one was injured, according to The Post in Chinese.
