Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for an end to the ongoing political squabbles over race and territories, urging all parties to focus on fostering national unity for the country’s development.

Speaking at the launch of the Bumiputra Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (Putera35) on Monday (Aug 19), Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, emphasised that by working together, Malaysia could achieve significant growth and enhance its standing on the international stage.

Anwar also proposed that government-linked investment companies like Khazanah Nasional should train qualified non-Bumiputras, while successful non-Bumiputra companies should similarly mentor young Bumiputras, as part of a joint national effort to ensure mutual success.

00:00Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
00:09What's under the treasury?
00:11Which company?
00:13Energy? Oil?
00:17Finance? Bank?
00:20Everything must be held accountable.
00:22This is not just a government matter.
00:24This is a state matter.
00:26In fact, I have proposed that bodies like treasuries...
00:33...should also train children who are eligible for non-Malays.
00:39I have also proposed that non-Malay companies that succeed...
00:44...should take a special initiative to train Malay children together...
00:49...so that they can be promoted as a joint effort, a national effort.
00:57In this monitoring, I believe that Jatul Kuasa will monitor.
01:01They will ask questions.
01:03There are big companies that are managed by BUMi Putra...
01:07...that provide space for children, especially the poor.
01:11Not BUMi Putra.
01:13And we also want to know about successful companies in the non-BUMi Putra sector...
01:17...that should also pay attention.
01:19And don't forget, whether it's BUMi Putra or not...
01:22...as long as it's safe in this country...
01:24...and has a big contribution from many sectors...
01:27...a well-organized system, a stable politics...
01:30...clear foundations...
01:33...and public officials, especially now, starting today...
01:37...are far more efficient than before.
01:46That's my prayer, God willing.
01:49And I hope that Jatul Kuasa will monitor together...
01:53...and representatives of business associations...
01:56...China, India...
01:59...or Dayak...
02:01...and Kadazan...
02:03...can be invited together...
02:07...so they can make an assessment...
02:10...and provide input...
02:12...to any groups that are left behind.
02:16That's it. Stop it.
02:19Politics...
02:21...excessive people and regions...
02:25...we're looking for a solution.
02:28Not many countries...
02:31...have achieved...
02:33...success as we have now.
02:36This is not just a matter...
02:39...of prime minister or minister or state government.
02:42This is a matter...
02:44...of everything. The workers...
02:46...the fishermen...
02:48...the small farmers.
02:51Everything.
02:53Government and private sector.
02:55So, because...
02:57...of our agreement, we have recorded...
03:00...a growth of 5.9%.
03:03Which is far better than most countries in Asia.
03:09And this is the first time...
03:11...if I'm not mistaken...
03:13...where all government agencies and companies...
03:18...including the PNB treasury...
03:20...and Petronas...
03:22...although they are far more...
03:24...affluent and free...
03:25...but all of them are the basis...
03:27...of how we have to balance...
03:30...our foundation...
03:32...this country's foundation...
03:34...with the foundation of government and civil economy...
03:37...also to raise...
03:39...the status of Bumi Putra.
03:41I'm among...
03:43...the prime ministers who talk least about Bumi Putra.
03:47And the economic foundation of Bumi Putra.
03:50Because I'm more interested...
03:52...to ensure its implementation...
03:54...rather than to expand its foundation.
