Structural economic reforms can elevate the Bumiputera socioeconomic status and propel Malaysia towards becoming a high-income, developed nation, said Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli.

At the launch of the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35) on Monday (Aug 19), Rafizi emphasised that there is still room for Putrajaya to find the best solutions for advancing Bumiputera prosperity.

He also affirmed the Unity government's commitment to prioritising the Bumiputera agenda in all national socioeconomic development plans.

00:00In 2023, Putera represented 70.1% of the 30.3 million Malaysian population.
00:25Out of the total population of Putera, 22% are Putera Sahabah, Sarawak and indigenous people.
00:34The number of Putera students, for example, has increased from 2.7 million in 2016 to 3.8 million in 2022.
00:49With this increase, the number of Putera students has increased from 15.9% in 2016 to 20.4%.
01:05However, we have to accept the fact that there is still a lot of space and opportunities for Putera to rise.

02:05that will promote the growth of the country's economy, including those categorized as high-growth and high-value industries.
02:15Today, we will have the opportunity to introduce one of the new goals of the development of the economy of Putera,
02:24which is Putera 35, as a proactive step to raise the status and rank of Putera.
02:32This plan is based on three pillars that are parallel to the economy of Madani.
02:38The first is to strengthen the economy of the country.
02:43The second is to strengthen the balance of governance and institutions.
02:49And the third is to establish social justice.
02:53By ensuring an inclusive spirit, the government of Madani, God willing, is committed to ensure
03:01that the agenda of Putera is given priority in every socio-economic development plan of the country.
03:10And this can be done in parallel.
03:15By not denying the rights of other nations,
03:19on the contrary, we ensure a synergy between the land of Putera and non-Putera,
03:24which is able to provide benefits to all nations in terms of development and development of the country.
