00:00These East Austin residences are not your average homes.
00:06The walls were printed using a groundbreaking 3D technique
00:09that's about four times faster than the traditional stick
00:12frame construction method.
00:14The 3D printed technology was done in about a week.
00:17It was fascinating to watch these walls go up.
00:20And then we finished the house conventionally
00:22that took several months beyond that.
00:25The robot behind the magic moves on an axis,
00:27pouring layers of concrete.
00:29Every 10th layer, steel is added for strength,
00:31and then it solidifies into walls.
00:34It's like an indestructible cake.
00:36Another exciting feature of it is the wall cavity
00:39that it's created allowed us, as we were printing,
00:42to install things like electrical conduit
00:45or plumbing in the wall cavity,
00:47which saved us time later on those trades.
00:52By reducing construction time, you not only save money,
00:55but also minimize the environmental impact on the property
00:58by having less workers, low carbon emissions,
01:00and material waste on the land.
