00:00Welcome to Mojo Place and today we're counting down our picks for 10 awesome and highly enjoyable
00:22AAA games that, for whatever reason, don't seem to get as much love and time in the spotlight
00:27as they might deserve.
00:38Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:42the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:47Immortals Fenyx Rising Now it's a bit unfair that 2020's Immortals
01:00Fenyx Rising was heavily compared to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, mostly because
01:05they are actually completely different game experiences.
01:08While yes, they are both colorful open world games, Immortals Fenyx Rising features a heavier
01:13emphasis on an overarching, less ambiguous narrative, more diverse traditional combat,
01:19and thoughtful, tangible character upgrades slash progression systems.
01:23Simply put, Fenyx Rising is an utterly gorgeous, Greek myth-inspired open world game.
01:38Its biomes each offer plentiful puzzles, great riches and rewards, tantalizing vistas to
01:43look out upon, and creative baddies to pummel.
01:46Its story balances both epicness and cartoony hilarity near perfectly, and its characters
01:51are well-written and fun to engage with.
01:54On top of all of that is a game that just feels good to play overall, since it's polished
01:58to a crisp, solid T.
02:08Prince of Persia 2008
02:20Rebooting a beloved franchise has got to be a tough task.
02:24Fortunately, Ubisoft knocked it out of the park with this 2008 reboot of Prince of Persia.
02:29Offering up a unique cel-shaded, stylized look, a parkour-infused open world playground,
02:34an intriguing storyline, and strong central characters, this reboot is more than the sum
02:38of its parts.
02:40The unnamed prince, alongside newcomer princess Elika, join forces to stop an evil entity
02:44in this Persian-inspired world.
02:46The acrobatics and combat in this reboot just feel more fluid and robust than in previous
02:51entries.
02:52And while it's a much easier game thanks in large, massive part to Elika's powers,
02:56it allows for parkour freedom of expression as you explore the intricate zones, without
03:01worrying too much about platforming flops and fails.
03:04If you consider yourself a fan of the Prince of Persia franchise, but somehow missed this
03:09gem, then be sure to remedy that right away.
03:11It's just a good time all around.
03:23PRINCESS PEACH SHOWTIME
03:24Yes, Princess Peach Showtime is a great game.
03:34Heck, it's even an excellent game.
03:35Don't let the naysayers fool you here.
03:37Is it easy, simple, and streamlined at times?
03:40Yeah, sure.
03:41Of course it is.
03:42However, an easier and more simple game does not at all equate to a bad game.
03:46Not every game out there needs to be deep and complex to be enjoyable.
03:50Princess Peach Showtime showcases how gameplay creativity, variety, and diversity more than
03:54make up for any possible shortcomings.
03:57This is just one of those Nintendo games that is deeply fun to play through.
04:01Princess Peach is the star of this theatrical show where her transformations keep the gameplay
04:05fresh, with each stage of the various theater floors serving up a completely new way to
04:10play.
04:19From the likes of sword fighting, to baking, to stealth, to investigations, to small-scale
04:24space combat, to even some fisticuffs and everything in between, Princess Peach Showtime
04:28aims for variety and fun, and it hits the marks, without a doubt.
04:32Plus, throw in a host of great collectibles, tons of customization, a fun, cartoony story,
04:37some creative boss battles, and some minigames thrown in for good measure, and what you have
04:42is a game bursting with whimsical theatrical enjoyment from top to bottom.
04:56Resident Evil 6
05:03Yes, yes, we all know that Resident Evil 6 is often viewed as the black sheep of the
05:14venerable RE series.
05:15However, if you do allow yourself to actually take a step back from what made the original
05:20game so noteworthy, namely the survival horror aspects, inventory management, and tightly
05:25focused narratives, if often bonkers narratives, you will find an RE game that revels in its
05:30bombastic action and over-the-top characters and storytelling.
05:43Resident Evil 6 just wasn't meant to be an overly horrific game, and you know what?
05:47It really doesn't need to be.
05:49Taking place across multiple chapters and character arcs, RE6 excels in gameplay variety
05:54and diversity, since each scenario feels and plays different from the last.
05:58It's a polished, action-heavy survival horror game with plenty to love, especially in Leon's
06:03chapters, even with its many missteps as a mainline entry.
06:19Darksiders III
06:30Now we'll be pretty frank right up front with this one.
06:33The beloved cult classic Darksiders series really didn't need to veer into souls-like
06:38territory to remain relevant.
06:40However, that's what happened with the series' underdog, Darksiders III.
06:44Where the OG Darksiders was an action-adventure sort of Zelda-like game, Darksiders II became
06:49a meaty, robust action-RPG, and Genesis being a top-down Diablo-esque adventure, Darksiders
06:55III opted to lean into the ever-popular yet, let's be honest, increasingly stale and
07:00overdone souls-like genre.
07:02Despite featuring these concepts and sort of mechanics and systems at play, Darksiders
07:06III still keeps the series' dark, epic, cartoony goodness.
07:10As Fury, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, you must traipse your way through all manner
07:14of earthly, otherworldly, and hellish locales with the hopes of putting a stop to the
07:19dastardly deeds and machinations of the Seven Deadly Sins.
07:22These are actually terrifying creatures who act as the game's central antagonists and
07:26bosses.
07:37Fury can tackle these Seven Deadly Sin bosses in any order that she chooses, all set across
07:42a finely crafted, ravaged open world.
07:45As long as you know you are going to get the souls-like tropes in this game, there's
07:48a ton to love, like the intense visceral combat, plentiful weapons and upgrades, rewarding
07:53exploration, and robust, lengthy campaign with tons of meat on its bones.
08:10Mad Max Thank goodness 2015's Mad Max has been treated
08:22to many retrospectives and recalculations, because what many viewed as just a potential
08:27cash-grab generic open world game is, in all reality, a deeply focused, nuanced, thoughtful,
08:33and utterly engaging post-apocalyptic masterpiece.
08:36Featuring some of the best fisticuff and boomstick combat around, a mesmerizing, arid
08:40wasteland locale, deeply intense and engaging vehicular combat and customization, near-constant
08:45upgrades, and an enticing story, Mad Max is absolutely definitely worth a play.
08:50There's just always something fun to do in this game and to work towards.
08:54It never gets stale, which might seem surprising given the desert, wasteland open world.
08:59Generously sprinkled around this world are myriad places to throw Max into mayhem and
09:03carnage.
09:04Honestly, don't sleep on this underappreciated game if you've been doing so since its release
09:07many many years ago.
09:19Silent Hill 4 The Room
09:20Okay, so there are likely a variety of Silent Hill games that could be added to this spot
09:36in this list, but for our money, Silent Hill 4 The Room is the one that stands out as being
09:41way better than anyone actually thinks.
09:43The final Silent Hill game by Team Silent, The Room is both ingenious and utterly unnerving
09:48in equal measures, offering up the series' staple challenging puzzles and exploration
09:53in tandem with disturbing, harrowing, and terrifying overarching themes, motifs, and
09:58throughlines.
09:59With a massive chunk of this game taking place in a singular evolving apartment, it's immediately
10:04set apart from other titles in the series, and not just because it's in first person
10:08in these sequences.
10:12It's this simple location where protagonist Henry Townshend meets some of the most horrific
10:21moments in the game, but venturing out of the apartment into the otherworldly and hellish
10:25areas the game dishes out continues to provide plenty of gameplay surprises and terrors.
10:31Plus, uncovering the deeply dark mysteries of serial killer Walter Sullivan and his links
10:35to Silent Hill and, well, yeah, of course, to Henry will always send a shiver down your
10:39spine.
10:40Yep, sure, the combat might be a bit daft at times and some puzzles are way too still
10:45obtuse.
10:46However, there's no denying that this game is a pure Silent Hill game through and through,
10:50and will stick in your mind long after the credits roll.
11:01Castlevania Curse of Darkness
11:16Castlevania Curse of Darkness is such a good game, and it's a major bummer that more people
11:20don't talk about it when discussing the best of Castlevania games.
11:24Curse of Darkness is an incredibly robust and thoroughly enjoyable 3D Castlevania outing
11:29that stars Hector, who, interestingly, isn't actually a part of the Belmont clan, thus
11:34meaning his weapons, moves, and abilities differ from those of the Belmonts.
11:38Combining traditional action-adventure combat with in-depth RPG elements, Curse of Darkness
11:42is pure gothic goodness, only enhanced by top-notch music, creative, spooky, and moody
11:48world design, and plenty of macabre characters.
12:00You see, Hector is actually a devil forge master, a role that allows him to conjure
12:04deadly devils, demons, and minions to aid him in battle and exploration alike.
12:09Plus, with the game being produced and written by Castlevania series mainstay Koji Igarashi,
12:14you know you are in for a real treat here, one brimming with plenty of supernatural gothic
12:18shenanigans and horrors.
12:33Shadow of the Tomb Raider
12:45Poor Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it really never did stand a chance against the 2013
12:49Tomb Raider reboot and the excellent follow-up, Rise of the Tomb Raider.
12:53While it's certainly not as good as either of those two games, Shadow of the Tomb Raider
12:56still manages to be an excellent entry in the reboot series, even with some design and
13:01narrative missteps along the way.
13:03In this game, set in the Americas, Lara mistakenly and unfortunately set into motion the Mayan
13:08apocalypse.
13:09Now, it's up to her to right her wrongs and try and fix this major, major calamity,
13:13while also contending with the nefarious Trinity paramilitary group.
13:17Where the 2013 game and Rise opted for more focused, semi-linear experiences, Shadow kinda
13:23went more open-world.
13:24While these open areas do often feel sparse, only really littered with rinse-and-repeat
13:28NPC interactions and fetch quests, the series' hallmarks of action combat, exploration, stealth,
13:34and full-on adventure are still all here in spades, all polished to a tee.
13:46Many aspects such as hunting, crafting, and engaging in optional side content in and around
13:50the explorable Peruvian and Mexico locales still provide oodles of fun, even if the systems
13:55do feel a bit more underwhelming compared to the last two games.
13:59At the end of the day, Shadow of the Tomb Raider still tells a thrilling adventure while
14:03offering just enough engaging gameplay to keep you progressing forward at all times.
14:22Rage 2 It's so awesome that Avalanche Studios and
14:36Bethesda brought Rage 2 to life, especially seeing as the first Rage failed to set the
14:41world on fire, despite the id Software developer pedigree.
14:45Where the original Rage was a drab, muddy, and washed-out, but still fun semi-linear
14:49post-apocalyptic first-person shooter with some brutal intense combat, Rage 2 is a bombastic,
14:55high-octane, neon-drenched roller coaster ride of post-apocalyptic goodness with some
15:00of the best FPS gunplay around.
15:02Seriously, it's just really that darn good here.
15:05Exploring the open world here is a solid tie, mostly because of the aforementioned gunplay
15:09in tandem with frenetic and kinetic movement abilities.
15:19Taking out bandit dens, cleaning up bounties, and exploring myriad powerful arcs are all
15:24a blast to engage with because each encounter with enemies never fails to get the blood
15:29pumping.
15:30Rage 2 stands out from its contemporaries not because of its story or characters, but
15:34because of its visceral in-your-face gunplay and demolishing arc-unlocked power abilities
15:39Throw in a dash of self-aware and self-referential humor and plenty of vibrant colors, and you
15:44are in for a real treat with this one, especially if you are an FPS fan.
15:57So do you agree with our picks for this list?
16:00There are tons of AAA games that are a lot of fun to play, more so than you might actually
16:04think.
