00:00I'll do anything to defend my family.
00:06This is what Olympic Council of Malaysia President Nusrat Zakaria said after netizens criticized
00:12him for bringing his family to the Olympic Games in Paris, where some athletes were unable
00:16to bring their coaches or support staff.
00:19OCM has since clarified that top officials are given additional accreditation cards,
00:25which are separate from the accreditation granted to the Malaysian contingent.
00:30Nusrat said the criticisms he and his family faced were unfair, highlighting that he was
00:34doing the work of OCM President Pro Bono.
00:38He said Malaysia risks losing more people who are willing to help out in the sports
00:41industry if the culture of criticism continues.
00:45A source close to the matter said it was common knowledge among the sporting fraternity that
00:50accreditation passes to major events such as the Olympics were not interchangeable.
00:55The source also said Nusrat, who leads the Badminton Association of Malaysia, was not
00:59being fairly recognized for developing the sport.
