00:00Welcome back everyone it is Amelia I hope you are fine.
00:10The boys season 4 is past the halfway point and thankfully some momentum has been achieved.
00:15The titular team is at an all-time low after Starlight channeled her anger into Firecracker's
00:21face and Butcher caused havoc at her rally.
00:23In the latest episode, Butcher's larger plan begins to take shape even as he remains
00:28a foul-mouthed thorn in everyone's sides.
00:31The Gen V soup virus has finally made its way to the world of the boys and, with the
00:36help of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Joe Kessler, Butcher is on the hunt for it, leading to
00:40a team-up with Stan Edgar.
00:42Along with the return of the former Watts CEO, some returning characters, a tragic ending
00:47for one another, and an outrageous sequence involving flying carnivorous sheep makes for
00:52another solid entry in season 4.
00:55Butcher, Starlight, M.M., Frenchie, and Kimiko all head upstate with Stan Edgar to search
01:00for the soup virus, leading to Victoria Newman's secret laboratory where animals were experimented
01:06on.
01:07When Newman shows up, a tense search for the virus and Newman's child's father, a lab
01:11tech who works in her lab, is underway.
01:13Everything about this location change is a welcome shift for the boys season 4, which
01:18so far has stuck to the grimy and grey streets of New York.
01:21It's all still pretty grim.
01:23The upstate farm is covered in snow and as grey as it gets, but it allows the series
01:28to stretch its legs and get a little freaky with it.
01:31So who is matching the boys freak?
01:33A gang of man-eating sheep and tentacle-having chickens.
01:36After being dosed with wee by Newman's lab tech, things have gone very wrong at the farm
01:40and Butcher and the gang must fight off the bloodthirsty animals to make it out alive.
01:45It's one of the more outlandish sequences this season, and it just shows that the boys
01:50doesn't need to try too hard to be freaky and fun.
01:53Sometimes, flying sheep with razor-sharp teeth is all you need.
01:57Yugi's plan to give his father wee was always going to end badly, and it's strange that
02:02one of the series' more cautious characters was so willing to take this risk.
02:06It's Yugi's estranged mother who ultimately gives Yugi Sr. the wee, and the consequences
02:11are fittingly tragic.
02:12Simon Pegg, Jack Wade, and Rosemary DeWitt make the most of this story.
02:17Even if Yugi's mother, Daphne, doesn't feel fully fleshed out quite yet, this doesn't
02:22dull the emotional impact of Yugi Sr.'s inevitable demise, though.
02:26And once the consequences of the wee take hold, he accidentally kills several people
02:31in a bloody hospital rampage.
02:33Even though Pegg's presence was always minimal, it was most welcome, and it's sad to see him
02:38go with Yugi and Yugi Sr. sharing one final, heart-wrenching scene.
02:43Meanwhile, Homelander is still on the verge of a nervous breakdown, numb after the massacre
02:48at the Watt Lab in Episode 4 that saw him murder everyone except Barbara.
02:52He continues taking this out on Ryan, and young star Cameron Covetti continues to give
02:57a layered performance as the evil Soup's son.
03:00Otherwise, The Seven isn't given much to do as the boys moves everything into place for
03:05its final few episodes of Season 4.
03:07Butcher slyly saves Newman's lab assistant to develop more of the Soup virus, and it
03:12seems that he may continue giving in to his worst impulses, much to everyone else's consternation.
03:18Right now, it's hard to see how everything will come together.
03:21But like Butcher's plan, things are beginning to fall into place.
