"Aj bhi Modi sarkar ka zulm o jabar jari hai," Khawaja Asif's fiery speech
Transcript
00:00Now, Speaker, we are discussing the issue of Kashmir.
00:09On 5th August, the protection of Kashmir by law and order was withdrawn and its status was changed.
00:32This special session was postponed due to the death of one of our colleagues and the discussion was suspended.
00:44I would like to briefly say that my brother Mahmood Khan has spoken about Kashmir.
00:57I don't want to go into that proposal, but I would like to say that for the past 75 years, the entire nation has had a joint stand on Kashmir.
01:12And our stand has been registered by the United Nations.
01:19The UN Security Council has passed a binding resolution on Kashmir, but unfortunately, both the Indian and Israeli governments did not let this resolution be implemented.
01:38Because of this, 40,000 people have been martyred in Gaza in the last 8-10 months.
01:47And thousands of people have been martyred before that in the Palestine-Israeli war, which started after 1948 and many wars were fought in it.
02:00Similarly, wars were fought on this issue in Kashmir. Pakistan fought on this issue not once, not twice, but three or four times.
02:09So our commitment to this issue is written in blood.
02:16So changing the status of this issue or suggesting this issue, I believe, will be a murderous act for Kashmir.
02:28And it will also alter a situation that I believe is a Muslim reality.
02:38And Pakistan has made a lot of sacrifices for this.
02:42Pakistan has invested a lot of blood.
02:46It is an investment of martyrs.
02:48The Kashmiris who live across our control line, in the occupied Kashmir, have made thousands of sacrifices.
02:59Even today, their oppression and oppression continues by the Modi government.
03:06So I believe that if this issue cannot be supported, then at least that issue should not be negated.
03:15Because this is a Muslim reality and a united stand.
03:21These were my remarks on this issue.
03:24Secondly, Deputy Speaker Mahmood Khan Achakzai, my brother, gave another remark on this Parliament.
03:35Sir, if you look at the history of this Parliament,
03:40then in 40, 50, 55 years, no assembly here has been formally and legally dismissed.
03:52After 2002, in fact after 2008, when the elections were held here,
04:01all the elections that took place after that were held in a formal manner.
04:07There are objections on both sides of the party.
04:12The parties that used to sit on both sides of the aisle, and those that still sit on both sides,
04:16they certainly have objections.
04:18But there was a tradition that the assemblies used to be intervened upon,
04:23and the assemblies used to be packed up and sent home.
04:26The constitution used to be abrogated.
04:29This tradition, this tradition, has been broken continuously.
04:34And even today, there are objections.
04:37Even today, there are objections on the parties that sit on the other side of the aisle.
04:44Even today, there are objections on the parties that sit on the other side of the aisle.
04:48In the 2018 elections, we were sitting there, and we had objections.
04:52But no matter how weak the democracy is,
04:57even if there are objections on it,
05:00I believe that democracy is still better than communism.
05:04And this is for us, I believe, a moment of thought,
05:09that instead of creating an issue,
05:14which has not happened in the last 15-20 years,
05:18and in that, these kinds of things should be said about this democracy,
05:24which will compromise the dignity of this democracy,
05:28which is a constitutional sanctity,
05:33which is a constitutional sanctity,
05:35then I believe that this will harm our cause,
05:39which I believe should be the common cause of all,
05:42that democracy will harm it,
05:45and it may harm it in such a way that it needs to be strengthened continuously,
05:52instead of weakening it.
05:54These were two issues that I wanted to draw the attention of the House,
06:01that differences should be in their place,
06:04whether they are right or wrong,
06:06I have my own opinion,
06:08the members sitting on that side,
06:11the opinion of my brother Mehmood Khan Achakzaiq,
06:14I have known it for the last 25-30 years,
06:18but the respect for each other's political and legal opinions,
06:26I believe,
06:28the institutions should not be attacked because of that,
06:33whether it is the Assembly,
06:35I believe that our Parliament is supreme,
06:39according to the constitution and law,
06:42its omnipotence,
06:44its value and value,
06:47the law and constitution that gives it strength,
06:50is not found in any other institution,
06:52this constitution is written by the constitution,
06:56it makes the constitution,
06:58it is the creator of the constitution,
07:00the other institutions are also respectable for us,
07:03but they make the constitution,
07:06the things that we write, read, make, legislate,
07:10they make the constitution,
07:12if the institutions start trespassing each other's turf,
07:17then that will also weaken the constitution,
07:19and weaken the institutions,
07:21and that will weaken the democracy,
07:24this journey of democracy should continue,
07:27there will always be shortcomings,
07:33the developed democracies,
07:35like the United States of America,
07:38they are also struggling today,
