00:14the political actors that participated as candidates in the presidential elections of
00:18last July 28.
00:23The Ministry of Health and the Gaza Strip reported during the last 24 hours 35 people
00:28killed and 551 wounded as a result of Israeli occupation attacks.
00:38And the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, the UNRWA, on Friday
00:43referred that constant Israeli shellings led to devastated schools in Gaza.
00:56Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:58My name is Belén de los Santos and from the set of our studios in Havana, Cuba, we begin
01:02with the news.
01:03The Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela summoned for Friday
01:08the political actors that participated as candidates in the presidential elections of
01:12last July 28, formally initiating the process of unrestricted verification of the electoral
01:19results.
01:23The Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
01:30assumes the commitment with peace, democracy and in pursuit of the constitutional order
01:38of the Republic, warranting that the will of the voters receives an effective and timely
01:45judicial protection, be published, registered and communicated.
01:52Be done as ordered, given, signed and sealed in the office room of the Electoral Chamber
02:00of the Supreme Court of Justice in Caracas on August 1 of the year 2024, year 214 of
02:09the independence and 165 of the federation.
02:15And we continue in Venezuela as President Nicolás Maduro stated that the Venezuelan
02:19government is willing to resume dialogue with the United States in compliance with
02:24the Qatar agreement.
02:25Through a publication on Social Network X, the head of state expressed, I have always
02:30discussed if the U.S. government is willing to respect sovereignty and stop threatening
02:35Venezuela, we can return to dialogue but based on a single point, Qatar compliance.
02:41This is the record of that negotiation.
02:49And the text of the agreement states that following the holding of presidential elections
02:53and the inauguration of the President-elect, Washington will unfreeze the assets of the
02:58Venezuelan government currently frozen in the United States.
03:02It further states that the United States will lift all sanctions and designations and will
03:06revoke all executive orders based on the national emergency declared by the United States with
03:12respect to the Venezuelan nation.
03:14Similarly, Qatar's compliance indicates that the United Platform of Venezuela and
03:19the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will reject any form of violence
03:25in the exercise of politics and any type of actions that threaten the sovereignty, peace
03:30and territorial integrity of the country.
03:33In this context, the constitutional president Maduro denounced that the fake news campaign
03:45against the country generated by the United States.
03:49Concerning the pressure of the hegemonic communication outlets to disregard the election results,
03:54the Venezuelan head of state revealed that there is a fake news laboratory operating
03:59from the U.S.
04:01In this context, the president argued that Venezuela won't fall into the hands of imperialism,
04:07fascism or criminals.
04:08Likewise, he also reaffirmed his commitment to defend Venezuela's sovereignty and protect
04:14its people from the U.S. imperialist advances.
04:24This whole campaign is fully based on fake news.
04:26We have already seen these fake news in the ongoing conflicts in Syria and Ukraine.
04:31I don't know if you have seen this particular fake news, as there are several, and they
04:35are being spread all over the world, and people see it and believe it, because it is a laboratory
04:40that has a script, a laboratory of the terrorist Machado, the coward Gonzalo Zarathia.
04:45It is a laboratory of lies, so we're facing the most criminal and dirty conspiracy we've
04:49ever seen in a long time in Venezuela.
04:54Reported from the People's Balcony, President Maduro informed that on Friday the electoral
05:00power will be in charge of the review of the tally sheets, thanks to the electoral appeal
05:05filed.
05:06During a meeting with the popular force of the local supply and production committees,
05:10the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro denounced the national and international extreme right
05:14wing for financing criminal groups to create chaos and unrest in the country.
05:20In this sense, the Venezuelan head of state informed that so far 1,200 people have been
05:25captured after the acts of violence registered in the country during the last three days
05:30after the extreme right wing lost the elections.
05:34On the other hand, the reelected president expressed that on Friday the electoral power
05:38would be in charge of proving the facts by means of the electoral appeal that he filed
05:44before the Supreme Court of Justice on Wednesday.
05:51And also on Thursday, the Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, denounced
05:55the acts of vandalism that the extreme right wing is carrying out in the country to undermine
06:01peace and tarnish the results of the July 28 elections in which President Maduro was
06:07announced as the winner.
06:09Saab also reported on the investigations that are being carried out against the perpetrators
06:13of these acts of vandalism, stating that the public prosecutor's office is currently looking
06:19into each of these criminal groups.
06:25And the governments of Brazil, Colombia and Mexico extended their solidarity with Venezuela
06:31and urged the nation to follow institutional channels with regard to the impartial verification
06:36of Sunday's election results.
06:39In this sense, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico expressed their absolute respect for the sovereignty
06:43of the will of the Venezuelan people, reaffirming their willingness to provide support in the
06:48dialogues and agreements that benefit the nation.
06:52Thus, they urged the electoral authorities of Venezuela to advance and publish the data
06:57broken down by each polling station, reiterating that they will remain attentive to the process
07:03of ballot counting.
07:11And in this context, the Foreign Ministry of Venezuela issued an official statement
07:15rejecting allegations presumably made by the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
07:21According to the statement, Venezuela rejects the serious and even ridiculous accusations
07:26attributed to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, stating that he pretends to assume
07:32the role of the Venezuelan electoral power, showing the U.S. is behind the coup that threatens
07:37Venezuela.
07:38In this way, the Foreign Ministry states that Venezuela denounces before the international
07:42community this perverse maneuver that uses lies and manipulation through big global communication
07:48powers and tries to impose a false narrative that leads to violence in the streets at hands
07:54of criminal groups and fascist organizations.
07:57The office reiterates that the Venezuelan institutions have acted preserving the national
08:01and popular sovereignty, considering the Venezuelan democracy as one of the strongest in the world.
08:07The statement closes by declaring that Venezuelan people have spoken and expressed their right
08:12to vote, reiterating their path towards socialism, and will know how to face all challenges placed
08:19by imperialism.

08:42Welcome back to From the South.
09:10The General Secretary of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance Movement, Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan
09:14Nasrallah, denounced on Thursday that Israel is carrying out an operation of deception
09:20and fraud to blame the Shia militia for the murder of a dozen people in Magdal Shams without
09:26evidence.
09:27Nasrallah recalled that the explosion in the Druze town of Magdal Shams was caused by an
09:33Israeli interceptor missile and stated that the occupation does not want to admit it in
09:38order to exonerate its army of such a crime and try to escalate the conflict in the Middle
09:44East.
09:45He also stressed that this crime is part of an Israeli-U.S. war in the region, the aggression
09:50of the occupation and the battle being waged to the north of the occupied Palestinian territories.
10:03And meanwhile, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, the
10:07UNRWA, on Friday referred that constant Israeli shelling led to devastated schools in Gaza.
10:14On X, the UNRWA noted that nearly 85 percent of school buildings in the Gaza Strip have
10:21been hit or directly damaged, according to satellite assessments by the Global Education
10:26Cluster Organization.
10:28Some of these schools will need complete reconstruction.
10:32The war is destroying the present and future of the Palestinian children, they added.
10:41Meanwhile in Palestine, the Israeli occupation army bombed areas of the Gaza Strip on Friday,
10:47leaving several casualties on day 301 of the genocidal war in the devastated coastal enclave.
10:54Meanwhile, rescue teams searched for survivors after an Israeli airstrike on a residential
10:58building in the city of Gaza killed four people and wounded 12.
11:04On the other hand, the refugee camp of Nusrat was also hit from the air, as was the southern
11:09town of Han Yunis, which has suffered two ground invasions since October 7th.
11:14Precisely, more than 39,000 people were killed and another 91,000 have been injured since
11:21the beginning of the Israeli genocide in October 2023, while thousands remain buried under the
11:28rubble.
11:34In Yemen, massive demonstrations in several cities of the country ratified their support
11:39to the struggle of the Palestinian people.
11:42Hundreds of thousands of people gathered on Friday in the city of Sada and in other localities
11:47such as Mareeba, Amram and Taiz, among others.
11:50The rally was held under the slogan, loyalty to the blood of martyrs with Gaza until victory,
11:56and paid homage to Palestinian leader Ismail Haniyeh and Lebanese commander Fouad Shouker.
12:03The demonstrators waved Yemeni and Palestinian flags while uttering chants against the crimes
12:08of the Israeli regime and of the United States.
12:17Meanwhile in Qatar, on Friday, the funeral ceremonies for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh
12:22are being held while around the world several countries are paying homage to the assassinated
12:27figure, symbol of the Palestinian resistance.
12:31Thousands including Hamas, other Palestinian factions, and Haniyeh's family gathered at
12:36Doha's Qatar State Mosque for the burial of the chief and his bodyguard, Abu Shaban, in
12:43Lusail, northern Qatar.
12:45The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, had summoned people to come out each mosque
12:52and rally against the leader's assassination and the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
12:57Meanwhile, Turkey and Pakistan announced a day of mourning to pay tribute to Haniyeh.
13:02In addition, Iran set a special committee of experts to inquire into the assassination.
13:13We now move on to other topics.
13:14In a press release, the circuit and microprocessors manufacturer Intel announced that it will
13:20cut some 15,000 jobs as part of a cost-cutting plan.
13:25The layoff move was announced immediately after the release of Intel's second quarter
13:30financial results, which revealed a loss of $1.6 billion.
13:36The announced layoff amounted to 15% of the corporation's workforce, and according to
13:42CEO Pat Gelsinger, in a letter to employees, the measures contained in the restructuring
13:48plan will be implemented until the end of 2024.
13:52The technology corporation expects, with the implementation of this measure, to achieve
13:57$10 billion in savings and thus increase the company's efficiency and competitiveness.
14:04We continue in the United States as a New York appeals court on Thursday denied former
14:16U.S. President Donald Trump's request to remove the gag order in the criminal case in which
14:22he is accused of paying to conceal damaging information.
14:26The decision came a day after Trump's lawyers attempted to file papers asking the appeals
14:31court to immediately lift the gag order.
14:35Since the decision was imminent, the court rejected the filing of papers, which called
14:40the restrictions an unconstitutional obstacle interfering with the election to Trump's freedom
14:45of speech.
14:46The court rejected the Republican's argument that his sentence issued in May constituted
14:50a change in circumstances justifying the removal of the restrictions.

20:01The Uttarakhand region was ravaged by record rain in 2013, when nearly 6,000 Hindu devotees
20:09on pilgrimage went missing.
20:12During the monsoon season in India, floods and landslides are common.
20:15However, experts underscore that climate change is increasing their frequency and severity.
20:27We have a rescue team stationed in Sunprayag.
20:31Last night, heavy rainfall caused the Mundakini River to overflow, resulting in the road being
20:36washed out.
20:38Following this, we safely began relocating tourists to a safe zone.
