00:18to immortality.
00:22In Palestine, Hamas urged the international community, including the Arab nations, to
00:27stop international silence, complicity and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
00:36And China is building the world's largest airport on an artificial island in the coastal
00:40city of Daliang, Liaoning province.
00:50Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:55We begin with the news.
00:56In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro held a meeting with members of the Bolivarian National
01:01Militias in the framework of the 194th anniversary of the passing of liberator Simón Bolívar
01:07to immortality.
01:09In his remarks, the President assured the people he is willing to keep Bolívar's legacy
01:13alive for his role in fighting against colonialism in Venezuela and Latin America, for being
01:18a creator and guide of the military thinking of Venezuela.
01:23President Maduro also called for empowering communities and organizing the everyday people
01:28and empowering Latin America in honor of Bolívar's struggle for the most dispossessed classes,
01:33for the union of all America, for the internationalism and anti-imperialism that mark his trajectory.
01:41A hundred and ninety-four years from today, we say goodbye to the greatest, the one who
01:58gave everything he had, his body, his life, even his wealth, because he was born in this
02:09city in a wealthy household, but he gave up his wealth for the freedom of the peoples
02:19of America.
02:22And a day like today, a hundred and ninety-four years ago, the good soul of the peoples liberated
02:31by his sword moved when, by running the news of the passing of the liberator father, but
02:47he didn't die, he was still present, as Miguel Ángel Asturias would say, watching the destiny
03:03of his people.
03:10The Venezuelan president also highlighted the importance of taking care of the legacy
03:14of the liberators and founders of America.
03:16We are not only taking care of our wealth, our riches, which is ours, it doesn't belong
03:23to anybody else, but we are also taking care of the spiritual wealth, richness that we
03:30can inherit to the future generation and show it to humanity.
03:34We are taking care of the spiritual, political, and military legacy of the liberators of America,
03:42of those who founded an entire continent, of those who built popular armies, revolutionary
03:51armies.
03:52It is so great what we take care of, what we treasure, but the best way to take care
04:03of something is building, making, developing ideas.
04:11In Venezuela, several authorities met to begin preparations for the second chapter of the
04:15historical Bolivarian bloc.
04:17The event was attended by the Minister of Planning, Ricardo Menéndez, the Minister
04:21of Youth, Grecia Colmenares, and other members of the presidential cabinet who seek to define
04:26the roadmap for the process of continuity of the bloc.
04:30During the meeting, Menéndez also highlighted that during the first congress, grassroots
04:35assemblies were promoted in communities throughout the national territory.
04:39The concept of the historic bloc is marked by the original Bolivarian project that rejects
04:44colonialism and imperialism.
04:53Today is a very important day, a preparatory day for the second chapter of the historical
05:00bloc.
05:05I would like to say for a moment what it means to be gathered here to prepare this second
05:09chapter.
05:12Above all because part of our culture, of our schemes, from the revolutionary point
05:16of view, we do not meet as a sort of improvisation in each one of the issues we address.
05:28When we debated the first chapter in the first moment we held grassroots assemblies all over
05:32the national territory.
05:38These assemblies were not mediated by anything or anybody, they were held as grassroots assemblies.
05:47The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the coercive measures against Venezuelan officials
05:52which the Government of Canada intends to impose.
05:55In a statement, the Venezuelan government said the move confirms Canada's servile
06:00role with the imperial interests of the United States.
06:03The statement further said that these actions are nothing more than a failed attempt to
06:08put pressure on Venezuela, demonstrating the humiliation and international disrespect
06:13of the Canadian government.
06:15Finally, while Canada bows to Washington's orders, the Republic of Venezuela remains
06:20firm, sovereign and unbreakable.

07:05Welcome back to From the South.
07:25The Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement urged the international community, including the
07:29Arab nations to stop international silence, complicity and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
07:35Hamas denounced the latest violent Israeli bombings on Shahibar School, west of Gaza,
07:40killing 12 civilians.
07:42The movement further recalled the occupation have massacred at least 30 people in Hawalia
07:48refugee camp.
07:49Moreover, the resistance raised attention to the ongoing Israeli siege of northern Gaza
07:54for 34 consecutive days, which it has claimed to violate international laws with the act
07:59of complicity of the US administration.
08:08Activists from Paraguay mobilized on Tuesday to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign
08:12Affairs to demand the government to take actions to stop the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian
08:17people.
08:18At the site, demonstrators handed a legal analysis report on the genocidal actions of
08:23the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip, with a copy of the document also being delivered
08:28at the Embassy of Israel.
08:30In addition, the mobilization denounced the stance of the Paraguayan state on the Israeli
08:34aggression in Palestine, which has ignored the demands of the international community
08:39and human rights organizations for a permanent ceasefire.
08:42Furthermore, the Asuncion government recently inaugurated its embassy in Jerusalem.
08:53The Paraguayan state ignores the demands of the international community, even denying
08:57or ignoring resolutions of international bodies, both the United Nations Security Council
09:02and the International Criminal Court or the International Court of Justice, even voting
09:07against resolutions calling for a ceasefire, the release of hostages by the General Assembly
09:12and also by the Human Rights Council.
09:15Then we see that the Paraguayan state is ignoring these international resolutions and is not
09:20contributing with concrete actions that could put an end to the genocide in Gaza.
09:28On Tuesday, five Palestinian families sued the U.S. State Department over Washington's
09:32billions in military aid to Israel demanding the enforcement of U.S. rules to curb arms
09:38flow due to the allegations of human rights abuses.
09:41The complaint filed on Tuesday and to which the State Department has 60 days to respond
09:47calls for the implementation of the so-called Leahy Law, which the plaintiffs and right
09:53groups say Israel has been illegally exempted from.
09:58The law prohibits the provision of security assistance to units facing credible allegations
10:03of human rights abuses.
10:04Since the start of Israel's genocidal war against Hamas in October 2023, the United
10:09States has enacted legislation to provide more than $12.5 billion in direct military
10:16aid to its strategic ally.
10:24In Iran, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned that the United
10:28States and Israel are wrong to believe that the resistance has failed and stated that
10:33the Zionist regime is the one that will be eradicated.
10:37The leader of the Islamic Revolution has assured that despite the crimes and aggressions committed
10:41by Israel in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, the resistance remains strong.
10:46However, he affirmed that Iran will stand firm with the fighters of Palestine and Hezbollah,
10:52in addition to offering all possible support and assistance.
10:55In this sense, Khamenei pointed out that the spirit of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah is alive,
11:00only his physical presence was removed, but his ideals continue.
11:08The U.S. regime and the Zionist entity as well as some of its allies are wrong to believe
11:13that the resistance will end, which is a belief that is completely wrong, and the one who
11:17will be eliminated will be the Israeli entity.
11:21China is building the world's largest airport on an artificial island in the coastal city
11:25of Dalian, Liaoning province.
11:28The new airport will exceed the size of Hong Kong and Kansai's international airports,
11:32which are 12.48 and 10.5 square kilometers respectively.
11:37However, this one will be the first airport on the Chinese territory to be built on an
11:43artificial island and will have four runways and a 900,000 square meter terminal.
11:49In this sense, the organization Airports Council International reported that the terminals
11:53will be designed to initially receive 43 million passengers a year and in the future will be
11:59able to handle up to 80 million passengers annually.

12:34Welcome back to From the South.
12:47In Uruguay, more than 10 unions of the Industrial Confederation held a strike to demand an end
12:53to layoffs and better pay for workers.
12:55On Tuesday, the unions of the Confederation of Dairy and Textile Industries demonstrated
13:01in front of the Ministry of Labour in the capital city, demanding an end to the layoffs
13:05of large families in national industrial companies.
13:08The workers also protested against the lack of a public policy to promote the industrialization
13:13of the country.
13:14Moreover, they urged the authorities to show solidarity with the workers who have been
13:18laid off without being paid for their working time, denouncing that the companies are refusing
13:23to negotiate a fair solution.
13:26Firstly, we continue to demand an industrial productive development plan that we have been
13:35demanding for years.
13:37Secondly, we are demanding to be able to negotiate especially the restructuring of the different
13:42factories, against the violation of what is happening in several factories that belong
13:47to this branch of activity, and thirdly, that is why we are here today, we are once again
13:52against the violation of the executive power, regarding the discount of a negative corrective
13:56that was made in the month of July, and now they want to continue doing it in January.
14:03In Colombia, President Petro denounced a parliamentary coup attempt against his government, planned
14:08for next year, and also called on the people to be ready to defend democracy.
14:13The Colombian head of state referred to the dismissal of a legal action he filed, which
14:17sought to halt the investigation of the National Electoral Council, CNE, against him.
14:23Petro asserted that this fact proves that a parliamentary coup against his administration
14:28would be carried out next year.
14:30Likewise, the Colombian leader called on the people to be ready to defend the popular vote,
14:35and with it, the democracy and sovereignty of the country.
14:54The US Geological Survey registered Tuesday a 7.4 magnitude earthquake in the South Pacific
15:00archipelago of Vanuatu, triggering a tsunami warning.
15:03The earthquake occurred 30 km west of the coast of Port Vila, the country's capital.
15:09So far, authorities have not reported any deaths or injuries.
15:13The US Forecasting Service warned that smaller waves are expected in some nations close to
15:18the Pacific Ocean.
15:19In this regard, the Defence Minister of New Zealand, Mark Mitchell, said that the government
15:24is closely following the situation in the archipelago, noting that the nation is ready
15:28to send the necessary aid.
15:34In Mozambique, the National Institute of Rescue and Disaster Management, INGD, reported 34
15:40deaths from a shadow storm which battered the northern domestic region on Sunday.
15:45The institute stressed that the three-year-old girl was among the fatal victims, warning
15:50that the aforesaid death toll is likely to skyrocket.
15:54The entity further specified that the storm made over 34,000 Mozambican families lose
15:59their houses, as the weather phenomenon brought winds of around 260 km per hour.
16:05Furthermore, authorities announced the destruction of schools, health facilities and fishing
16:09boats as well.
16:10Likewise, the Electricidad de Mozambique, EDM, updated that about 200,000 customers
16:17are still without power.
16:24I took my children and while we were running, I saw other families falling due to the force
16:28of the wind, and others dodging things that fell from the houses due to the wind.
16:33People were lucky that the zinc sheets didn't cut them into pieces.
16:37Children couldn't stop crying.
16:38I saw children running away, but I didn't see where they ran to.
16:42In the end, thank God, I realized all the children are here at school, there are old
16:47people here, women and children who are hungry.
