00:00:00And look at this passing yards 45 to 160 and it adds up 21-3 Randy Cross
00:00:06and your thoughts here on the first half. One critical thing you don't see there
00:00:09Jim is defensive penalties that the Washington Redskins have piled up in
00:00:14very critical situations just when it looks like they're gonna stop Dallas
00:00:17they make a mistake and something else happens but a lot of that credit has to
00:00:21go to Aikman and the skill guys for the Cowboys have just been off to a
00:00:25great start especially Emmitt Smith. Well Emmitt Smith had over 80 yards in the
00:00:30first half you see one rush to the left side for five but look busting right up
00:00:34the middle he got the bulk of his yardage in the first half. Well you talk
00:00:37about those body punches Jim that is a classic heavyweight boxing hitting them
00:00:43in the middle hitting them in the middle and setting things up for the outside
00:00:46and and for the big the big payoff and the big payoff is eventually a big play
00:00:51action pass for a touchdown. And the rushing touchdown was the 50th rushing
00:00:57touchdown of his career. He's already got the baseball cap in hand. He's got two
00:01:05baseball caps in hand just in case the one on his head wears out he's got one
00:01:08in his other hand. I was wondering what to back it up with. Maybe he's gonna give this
00:01:11one out. Maybe he's going to the two bill look. One in the front one in the back.
00:01:18Garrett was also warming up on the sideline at quarterback so we may see a quarterback change also.
00:01:31Murray Howard will run it out. Desmond Howard fails to make it to the 20.
00:01:39Dave Thomas pretty fired up about that play.
00:01:44Let's check out Rippins first half figures.
00:01:55And the best comparison Jim would be probably no comparison at the moment.
00:01:59Mark Rippins off to a shaky start. Troy Aikman's got everything working and everything going.
00:02:04Early the Redskins ran well and didn't throw and late they weren't running well and they weren't throwing well.
00:02:09So they need to come out and get a little confidence.
00:02:16That's to Wycheck for about two. Rippin is now under five yards per pass attempt on the season.
00:02:25That's per attempt and he picked up a couple yards on that pass play.
00:02:31It's one of the byproducts of being the quarterback especially in a high-profile offense like Washington.
00:02:36If things aren't going well you probably get an inordinate amount of the positives and when things don't work out you get an inordinate amount of the negatives.
00:02:47On second and eight, Rippin, receiver fell down and jumped up to grab it. Art Monk keeping the streak alive.
00:02:56Pretty savvy there.
00:03:00Bounced back up didn't he Randy?
00:03:02Yeah he sure did. Watch Rippin spin this thing off. You can't tell me this guy doesn't have the big league arm everybody talks about.
00:03:09This is a pass play to make Troy Aikman jealous because that has impact.
00:03:14I mean Art Monk catches that in the bread basket and feels it in the middle of his back.
00:03:18Second longest streak in league history. He went over 12,000 yards in his career with that reception too.
00:03:25Wycheck.
00:03:29Rippin felt some pressure coming in and Wycheck was not his first option.
00:03:39Since the first week the 35-16 win over the Cowboys look at their average the next 13 games averaging 15 points.
00:03:49Well if you drop the bowling ball and the Redskins off a 10-story building after the second week I think the Redskins would hit the ground first.
00:04:02Second and ten.
00:04:05Brooks.
00:04:07Backed up.
00:04:09For no game.
00:04:11Brooks was actually very high on the Cowboys draft list.
00:04:16Jimmy Johnson confirmed this week in a talk with the Cowboys coach that Brooks was one of the five players they had on the board.
00:04:24They had their first selection in the second round. Dallas did not have a first round pick and Brooks went with the selection before Dallas.
00:04:32Redskins grabbed him and then the Cowboys took Kevin Williams.
00:04:41Third down and eight.
00:04:46Sign arms it over to Ronnie Middleton.
00:04:49And Middleton jawing with Brock Marion.
00:04:55Things are starting to get a little frustrating now for the Washington Redskins not that the year hasn't been frustrating but you know for them things just aren't going right.
00:05:04Mark Rippin missed one out easy one out in the right flat before and just sort of over spun and over led that one to Middleton.
00:05:11So Reggie Roby back in.
00:05:24Pretty good rush on Roby.
00:05:26He gets a favorable bounce.
00:05:27Williams returns it to the 30.
00:05:32That's a 52 yard punt.
00:05:3721-3 will bring the Cowboys offense out for the first time in the second half.
00:05:42When we come back.
00:05:45Pulled hamstring for James Jenkins.
00:05:50Cowboys now start from the 29.
00:05:58Incomplete with Carl Harper.
00:06:01Long ball throw Harper.
00:06:04Incomplete with Carter on the coverage.
00:06:08Harper beat him for an 80 beat the Redskins that is for an 80 yard touchdown in their first meeting.
00:06:14Defensive backfield play is about position and Carter has excellent position.
00:06:19I mean he's looking back to the ball he's got that left arm on Harper for a little bit of a feel but a wonderful job by Carter and let's see what kind of pressure they got on Troy that time.
00:06:29Pump fake doesn't get bought.
00:06:31Carter does a good job and Johnson gets right in Troy's lap.
00:06:37This rookie Carter has really come a long way since the beginning of the year.
00:06:40Really compliments Darryl Green.
00:06:45Second and ten and Smith.
00:06:48Whistling the play dead.
00:06:51Flag at the line.
00:06:59Before the ball was snapped.
00:07:01Ball start.
00:07:02Number 66 on the offense.
00:07:04Five yards.
00:07:05Still second down.
00:07:08Big Kevin Gogan.
00:07:10I wouldn't argue with him.
00:07:11He says it's on two and everybody else says it's on three.
00:07:14I think if you're as big as Gogan it automatically is on two.
00:07:19What was your playing size?
00:07:22At that time.
00:07:23About 275.
00:07:27Is that right?
00:07:28275.
00:07:29I like the over.
00:07:30Is that right?
00:07:31275.
00:07:32Gogan was 275 I think in the sixth grade.
00:07:36That's a big guy.
00:07:40Smith across the 30.
00:07:43And another flag down.
00:07:54Holding against the Cowboys.
00:07:58You know just five years later.
00:08:00Since you last played.
00:08:02That's really small by today's standards now.
00:08:04It really is.
00:08:05There's plenty of centers that size.
00:08:07Number 61 on the offense.
00:08:09Ten yards.
00:08:10Still second down.
00:08:11And big Nate Newton got tagged that time for a little holding.
00:08:15That's one thing this Dallas offensive line.
00:08:17It can do at times.
00:08:19Is get hands outside the sort of plane of the body when they're
00:08:22blocking.
00:08:23Because this is a group offense.
00:08:25Offensive lineman who aren't real pretty as far as technique
00:08:28and whatnot.
00:08:29Whatnot goes.
00:08:30But this is an offensive line that has the finesse of a
00:08:33bulldozer.
00:08:34Their job is just to sort of scoop everything out and huge
00:08:37gouges and let Emmitt run behind it.
00:08:39Second down.
00:08:4025.
00:08:42Tackled at the 20.
00:08:43We have an update.
00:08:44Coming your way.
00:08:45Let's send it back to New York.
00:08:47Giants and Cardinals.
00:08:48What's the story there.
00:08:49Greg Gumbel.
00:08:50All right Jim.
00:08:51In Sun Devil Stadium.
00:08:52Steve Berline to Gary Clark.
00:08:53He'll get stopped.
00:08:54At the three.
00:08:55The Cardinals couldn't get in.
00:08:56They're going to have to come back.
00:08:58They're going to have to come back.
00:09:00They're going to have to come back.
00:09:02They're going to have to come back.
00:09:04They're going to have to come back.
00:09:06They're going to have to come back.
00:09:08They're going to have to come back.
00:09:10The Cardinals couldn't get in.
00:09:11Greg Davis.
00:09:1220-yard field goal.
00:09:13Cuts the Giants lead in half at 6-3 in the third.
00:09:15About Joe Bugle's future there.
00:09:18If they win the last two games.
00:09:20If they could beat the Giants today and then Atlanta next
00:09:22week.
00:09:23Would it save his job do you think?
00:09:25I wouldn't place any money I didn't need desperately on that
00:09:29one.
00:09:30Looks like Palmer jumped.
00:09:36Of course Bugle told he had to win nine games before the season
00:09:39started.
00:09:40But the players have shown support for the coach.
00:09:43Before the ball was snapped.
00:09:44Ball start.
00:09:45Number 61 on the offense.
00:09:47Five yards.
00:09:48Still third down.
00:09:49So another penalty against the Cowboys offense.
00:09:52Well we've got two Quivers and a hold so far against the
00:09:55offensive line for the Cowboys on this possession.
00:09:58And they're making some of the same mistakes that the Redskins
00:10:00defense was making in the first half where they can't.
00:10:03They just won't let themselves get started.
00:10:06A Quiver.
00:10:08Quiver is when it's on two and you go on one.
00:10:11And decide to try to stop all that going.
00:10:14Down 25.
00:10:17Smith.
00:10:21To the 24 yard line.
00:10:23It'll be punting time for John Jett.
00:10:29And Emmitt has 96 yards.
00:10:31And one thing about Emmitt Smith is even on a run like this when
00:10:34you're watching this game you think there's a chance he can
00:10:36get a first down.
00:10:38I mean he comes up oh a good 10, 15 yards short of that first
00:10:41down.
00:10:42But when you see him get the ball and he makes a couple people
00:10:44miss you just start holding your breath.
00:10:58John Jett with a 50 yard punt.
00:11:01Ryan Mitchell out to the 40.
00:11:07That'll give the Redskins good field position to start their
00:11:11next series.
00:11:12Redskins have managed only a field goal.
00:11:14It came on their opening series of the day set up by a turnover.
00:11:17Since then all Dallas 21-3.
00:11:21And the Redskins send out a rookie to the top of your screen
00:11:27Gregory Clifton.
00:11:31And Griffin never had a chance.
00:11:34Russell Maryland with the Cowboys first sack.
00:11:41And watch the coordination or lack of coordination on this
00:11:44stunt.
00:11:45Both defensive tackles are doing games with the defensive ends.
00:11:49And Maryland comes around because the left side of that
00:11:52offensive line just can't pick up that stunt.
00:11:59There's Gregory Clifton.
00:12:03Rookie from Johnson C.
00:12:05Smith just signed this week back to day go.
00:12:10Second and 17.
00:12:13And he makes the catch with Brown on the coverage.
00:12:23With that kind of a pad right there that Larry Brown is giving
00:12:26him smart decision by Mark Griffin.
00:12:28Brown closes the gap quickly but that's just sort of taking what
00:12:31the defense gives you.
00:12:33Signed off the or brought off the practice squad.
00:12:40His heart's got to be racing right now.
00:12:42We got to come off the practice squad and suddenly he's in a
00:12:44Redskins-Cowboy game.
00:12:46And he's got a catch.
00:12:47Pitch third down and 12.
00:12:53And that in the area of Art Monk.
00:12:56Bring back out Reggie Roby.
00:13:02Speaking of Roby, before the game I was down on the sidelines with my
00:13:05old buddy Fred Couples.
00:13:07He said something very amusing.
00:13:08He said, I can't believe how far Reggie Roby punts it.
00:13:12It looks like he's hardly, you know, even trying.
00:13:15It's so effortless.
00:13:16This is from a guy that hits it longer than anybody with a golf
00:13:18club.
00:13:19Same way.
00:13:27Watch this.
00:13:28Roby.
00:13:29Another boomer.
00:13:36And that's to the 30-yard line.
00:13:42That's a 45-yard punt.
00:13:45His specialty is hang time.
00:13:47He can do that better than the majority of the kickers there have ever
00:13:50been.
00:13:51And make no mistake, that's a big guy that's kicking that ball.
00:13:54You don't pick on Reggie Roby.
00:14:02Emmett inching near 100.
00:14:05In fact, give him 100.
00:14:07The fifth time in his career he's rushed for 100 yards against the
00:14:10Redskins.
00:14:12And the Phoenix Cardinals have taken the lead on the Giants.
00:14:15That would be an extremely popular score here.
00:14:18In fact, they're announcing that right here.
00:14:22Right on your cue.
00:14:25Seattle over Pittsburgh.
00:14:27Whoa.
00:14:33Second down and six.
00:14:38Kurt Gouveia made the defensive play that time.
00:14:42Novacek the target.
00:14:45I tell you, the Redskins are one big play from really climbing right back
00:14:48into the Cowboys' faces.
00:14:50Because offensively, the Cowboys seem to have almost lost interest.
00:14:54I mean, that fire that was there early just isn't there right now.
00:14:57It really is an indifferent attitude right now.
00:15:03But, you know, they can go from indifferent to standing in the end zone
00:15:06quicker than any of their offense in the league.
00:15:09Third down and six.
00:15:17Michael Irvin.
00:15:19And he's got enough for the first down.
00:15:22Daryl Green on the cover.
00:15:23Eight yards to Irvin.
00:15:27Jimmy Johnson gave the Cowboys most of the day off yesterday.
00:15:32Did not even have the team congregate until 6 o'clock.
00:15:35And Michael Irvin unable even to attend the meetings because he was so ill.
00:15:40And a real question mark today.
00:15:42But he's got a check performance here.
00:15:46He's come up like the all-pro he is in his matchup with Daryl Green.
00:15:50On the play action.
00:15:52Over to Johnson.
00:15:56And the chorus of fans pleased with that.
00:15:59But there is a flag down.
00:16:01To the right in the offensive lineman holding area.
00:16:07Danny Copeland.
00:16:10Tried to make the play on Johnson.
00:16:14Got one of those moose hooves.
00:16:17Holding number 68 on the offense.
00:16:20Ten yards.
00:16:21Still first down.
00:16:24Frank Cornish.
00:16:26The third offensive lineman was Newton and Gogan earlier making the mistakes.
00:16:30Now Cornish has joined in.
00:16:32And they've kept doing this.
00:16:34They've kept making mistakes in the second half.
00:16:36And they're keeping the Redskins in this thing.
00:16:40All right.
00:16:41Let's get back to New York for the update on the Cardinals and Giants.
00:16:44Take it away, Greg.
00:16:46Jim, Dallas fans will love this.
00:16:48Phoenix Cardinals running back Ron Moore from 19 yards out.
00:16:51Finds the end zone with the extra point.
00:16:53The Cardinals have taken the lead on the Giants.
00:16:56Less than two minutes to play in the third quarter, Jim and Randy.
00:17:00Greg, and you talk about rookie running backs.
00:17:02We have a standout rookie in this game, Reggie Brooks.
00:17:06But Ron Moore also having a really big year.
00:17:10In normal years, you'd go crazy over guys like Moore and Reggie Brooks.
00:17:14But with the season Jerome Bettis is having in Los Angeles, he's overshadowed all that.
00:17:19And, I mean, when you've got Emmitt Smith chasing you,
00:17:22you know you've had a marquee, unforgettable rookie year.
00:17:29Bowles comes in. Todd Bowles for Copeland.
00:17:337.35 to go in the third quarter.
00:17:36Dallas leads 21-3.
00:17:38There's Todd Bowles.
00:17:44On first and 20.
00:17:48Michael Irvin.
00:17:50With Monique Coleman giving chase at the 37.
00:17:57I always like that play out of the Dallas offense.
00:18:00After a penalty, they don't get greedy.
00:18:02They just try to get a good bit of the penalty back.
00:18:05They don't worry about trying to get, you know, 15, 20 plays on a down.
00:18:09They're looking at just chipping away, setting up a second in long,
00:18:12which will set up a third in medium, which sets up an opportunity to go for first down.
00:18:17And that type of thinking and that mentality comes from North Turner right there,
00:18:21their offensive coordinator.
00:18:27Smith outside and out of bounds.
00:18:3219 yards for Emmitt Smith.
00:18:37Came into the game trailing Bettis by 62 yards.
00:18:41Emmitt Smith can be to running what a knuckleball is to baseball.
00:18:45If you don't get good wood on it, you don't have a chance.
00:18:48And nobody right now is getting very good wood on Emmitt Smith.
00:18:55Of course, if you're playing in college, it's aluminum.
00:18:57We'll go with the pro analogy.
00:18:59Or even a helmet here.
00:19:01They can't get it on Smith.
00:19:04We're going to check out Bettis's numbers in this second half.
00:19:10See a comparison, how that race is going.
00:19:13There he goes again.
00:19:14Emmitt Smith, look out.
00:19:16Inside of the 20 and down at the 9, or out of bounds at the 9.
00:19:2335 yards.
00:19:26And if you're Jerome Bettis, I think that beep-beep and that blur that just went by you
00:19:32was Emmitt Smith in the rushing title.
00:19:35Because he's doing his best roadrunner here.
00:19:37Look at those eyes.
00:19:39If there's a cutback, you think Emmitt's going to find it?
00:19:42See ya.
00:19:44Wouldn't want to be ya.
00:19:47That's the speed of Emmitt Smith.
00:19:49You know, people talk about him not having the great speed for a running back,
00:19:53but he's probably faster than most guys chasing him.
00:19:57First and goal from the 9.
00:20:01Lincoln Coleman powering down to the 1.
00:20:05Almost got there.
00:20:07And that was a combination, Jim, of good blocking
00:20:21and some pure attitude by Lincoln Coleman.
00:20:23He just wasn't going to go down.
00:20:25Period.
00:20:26He says, I'm sorry, guys.
00:20:27I know you get paid to play defense, but I don't get the ball that often.
00:20:31And when I get the ball, I will not go down.
00:20:34Sorry, Brad.
00:20:35I know you got a job.
00:20:36I mean, Copeland, I won't go down.
00:20:38No, sorry.
00:20:43Coleman.
00:20:46Touchdown.
00:21:03A heck of a play.
00:21:05A heck of a play right there because Coleman was hit low by Kirk Govea
00:21:09at about the two-yard line.
00:21:11Watch this, and then watch him reach in.
00:21:13Here comes Govea.
00:21:14Look at the arm reach.
00:21:16Ball's over the end line.
00:21:17Wow.
00:21:19Great presence for a guy who doesn't get to do it very often.
00:21:23His second NFL touchdown.
00:21:25His second since being signed off the practice squad,
00:21:28activated, I should say, November the 17th.
00:21:33And there's Coleman running like a guy that might never see the ball again.
00:21:37And if I was him, I'd take advantage of it because you know what?
00:21:41He might not get very many more carries.
00:21:44We're looking at playoff time in Big D.
00:21:49Glory of the NFL end zone.
00:21:51He graduated from high school here in Dallas in 87.
00:21:54Recruited by Lou Holtz at Notre Dame.
00:21:56Played there his freshman year or spent that year there as a freshman.
00:21:59Transferred to Baylor for his sophomore and junior years.
00:22:04And then through the Arena Football League on to the Cowboys.
00:22:09Here's Howard in a lot of trouble.
00:22:15Tommy Agee.
00:22:22And Heisman trophy or not,
00:22:24if a running back doesn't want to go sideways against the defense of the Dallas Cowboys,
00:22:28they've got even more speed on their special teams.
00:22:31You don't want to try to make something happen by going sideways.
00:22:35You better stop to take two or three yards going forward
00:22:39than losing two or three or four yards trying to go sideways.
00:22:52Here's where Emmitt's other hat went to.
00:23:05Rippon.
00:23:07No redskin in the area.
00:23:12Casillas put pressure on Rippon.
00:23:20Smith's two big runs helped set up the score by Coleman.
00:23:24And now we've updated it.
00:23:25Smith is in front at this moment as the Rams are in action against the Browns.
00:23:32Bettis has 55 yards in his game today and Smith has overtaken him for the time being.
00:23:37And I know it's very well known, but amazing this guy missed the first two games of the season
00:23:42in a contract dispute and is doing what he's doing.
00:23:45Reggie Brooks.
00:23:48Written down by Woodson.
00:23:50You saw Smith on the phone.
00:23:51Was he getting updated stats, you think?
00:23:55Talk about some unbelievable company to go into is those three names you saw up there
00:24:01as far as guys that have rushed three times and won rushing titles like that.
00:24:05I mean, my favorite of that group, I know Steve Van Buren,
00:24:09and you got Earl Campbell in there.
00:24:11Earl Campbell's the guy that Jim Brown, probably the best ever,
00:24:15but Earl Campbell made defensive players hate facing his offense
00:24:19more than any other player of his time.
00:24:21Third down, two.
00:24:23Sanders Holcomb for the first down.
00:24:26New set of downs for the Redskins.
00:24:29Jim Brown, by the way, won three consecutive rushing titles twice.
00:24:35He had two such streaks.
00:24:40And Emmett Smith trying to join that elite three.
00:24:44Earlier today, Detroit, a big win at Chicago.
00:24:47And Green Bay won.
00:24:49Setting up quite a showdown next week for the division title.
00:24:53Philadelphia still has an outside chance at a wild card spot.
00:24:59First down for Washington.
00:25:013.50 to go, third quarter.
00:25:0328-3 Dallas.
00:25:10Ken Norton made the hit on Reggie Brooks.
00:25:15And this is a quarterback's least favorite time of a football game
00:25:18when things are starting to get out of hand at 28-3,
00:25:22and you have to pass every single down,
00:25:24and you're facing a defense like Dallas that's going to mix things up.
00:25:27Butch Davis, their defensive coordinator, you know is going to mix blitzes,
00:25:32mix stunts, mix personnel.
00:25:34They play a lot of people up here, and with or without Charles Haley,
00:25:38it's a group that loves to get into a quarterback's face.
00:25:41And you can sense they're just primed for a turnover right now.
00:25:45Second down and ten.
00:25:47And ripping sack at the 14 by Casillas.
00:26:02If you're a quarterback in this situation, as we spoke about,
00:26:04you know that defensive line is coming after you.
00:26:07And watch Mark Griffin looking down the field.
00:26:10Things aren't there.
00:26:11And you know in the back of his mind, he knows if things aren't downfield,
00:26:15I'm going to have company quick.
00:26:22Third and 18.
00:26:29Finer.
00:26:30Bill Bates moves in on him.
00:26:34And bring back out Reggie Robey.
00:26:38What a year Bill Bates is having.
00:26:41What a career he's had, 11 years out of Tennessee.
00:26:46And he's been one of those guys that for a long time everybody says,
00:26:49well, you know, this is probably the last year of Bill Bates.
00:26:51He'll probably get cut this year.
00:26:53And every year Bill Bates comes in and contributes on special teams,
00:26:57comes in as that kind of nickel middle linebacker on defense.
00:27:01He not only won't go away, they can't afford to get rid of him.
00:27:10Flag down.
00:27:12Back at the line of scrimmage.
00:27:1649-yard boot.
00:27:18From where that flag was dropped,
00:27:20looks like a receiver downfield a little early.
00:27:31I don't know about that you don't make Reggie Robey kick that thing again.
00:27:36I think you've 49-yarder, I mean, you've got to challenge him.
00:27:41Absolutely, you back him up.
00:27:46Ineligible downfield.
00:27:48Number 5-0.
00:27:54Ineligible downfield was Mark Rabb, the center.
00:27:57Yeah, that was recently signed this week to deep snap.
00:28:00Guy Bingham, the regular deep snapper, was put on injury reserve with a bad knee.
00:28:04And Rabb had just gotten his promotion to a manager of a valet parking group
00:28:10when he got it.
00:28:12So, you know, best case scenario for Rabb, I think,
00:28:14but he was a little tardy or early on that one.
00:28:16Well, the Cowboys, Irvins fought injury today.
00:28:20But Whistlin' Ray, let's hope he's okay.
00:28:24Whistle.
00:28:34Robey now standing at the goal line.
00:28:39Williams.
00:28:42Into Washington territory and he breaks it.
00:28:44This is over.
00:28:45Kevin Williams, touchdown, Dallas.
00:28:48And for those of you that might still be wondering, that's why you kick it again,
00:29:11have him kick it again after a penalty.
00:29:14Reggie Robey, nothing wrong with a kicker that can kick it 50, 55 yards.
00:29:20The problem is when your special teams coverage teams are doing what Washingtons are.
00:29:26It can be dangerous every time you kick a ball.
00:29:29That's the second punt run back against Robey this year.
00:29:33His first punt as a Redskin was run back by Johnny Bailey for a touchdown in September.
00:29:39And for Kevin Williams, he ran one back on Thanksgiving Day
00:29:43and now he has a football to keep the day after Christmas.
00:29:47And the reason Kevin Williams has bookends, two, one, the punt hangs up, goes a long way,
00:29:54and two, he gets good blocking.
00:29:58And I tell you what, with the block, the ability, and this crowd,
00:30:04look out who plays this team next.
00:30:08Think about this.
00:30:11Maybe it would be better to have full contact golf.
00:30:13What do you think?
00:30:15Get out the mustard.
00:30:16Here comes the dog.
00:30:19We might be able to find some room for that sport on a Sunday afternoon.
00:30:22A little full contact golf, huh?
00:30:29Desmond Howard to the 17.
00:30:40As we keep you abreast on the Giants and the Cardinals,
00:30:44we send you back to New York and the Greg Gumbel.
00:30:47All right, Jim, more good news for Dallas fans.
00:30:50Ron Moore, his second of the day, second effort, gets the one-yard touchdown,
00:30:54and it's a 17-6 Phoenix lead in the fourth quarter, Jim and Randy.
00:30:59Do you think the Giants are losing interest in that game right now,
00:31:03seeing that the Cowboys have put the Redskins away?
00:31:05Really, this still shapes up as winner-take-all next week in the NFC East.
00:31:11That game for the Giants, well, we watched Brooks first break one.
00:31:16Brooks out of bounds at the 40.
00:31:18They're going to add to that, Jim.
00:31:20Personal foul.
00:31:22Late hit.
00:31:23That was an unnecessary throw down at the end of the play.
00:31:39And that will put Washington into Dallas territory.
00:31:43Unnecessary roughness on the defense, 15 yards, touchdown.
00:31:50This is a wake-up call for the Dallas Cowboys defense.
00:31:54Yeah, I'd say that's a little out of bounds.
00:31:57Just a little bit.
00:31:58Catching them at the white stripe is one thing,
00:32:00but to catch them at the yellow stripe, that's another.
00:32:03That isn't very vicious, but that's also extremely unnecessary.
00:32:10Kevin Smith made some good plays today.
00:32:12That wasn't one of them.
00:32:17Ahead for about four.
00:32:23My point, for the Giants, that game was really important today
00:32:28if the Cowboys lost to the Redskins and they could have closed out the division.
00:32:31Now it's, as we said, it's a –
00:32:34Exactly, Jim.
00:32:35If you're looking at the NFC East,
00:32:36you're looking at a situation where the winner of this game next Sunday
00:32:41has got a huge edge.
00:32:42I think it's bigger if the Giants win it.
00:32:45Second and six, wide check, fighting to get to the 40.
00:32:49It was set up third and about four.
00:32:54A minute ten to go in the third quarter.
00:32:56Dallas leading here 35-3.
00:32:59I'm going to give you two good reasons you don't want to play in the Meadowlands.
00:33:02Two numbers, 20 and 30.
00:33:06And that's 20 degrees and 30 mile-an-hour winds.
00:33:10And if you're the Dallas Cowboys and you're the 49ers
00:33:14and you see anybody going in there for a playoff game,
00:33:16that's a bad combination and that plays right into Dan Reeves
00:33:19and the Giants' hands.
00:33:22Third and four.
00:33:24And Beiner got the first down to the 35.
00:33:29This game is presented by authority of the National Football League
00:33:32and this CBS telecast is intended for the private use of our audience.
00:33:36Any rebroadcast or other use of this telecast
00:33:38without the express written consent of CBS, Dallas Cowboys,
00:33:42and the National Football League is prohibited.
00:33:45I thought that was a FedEx commercial at the auditioning.
00:33:51Well, here's a spot for Mark Griffin to put this thing up in the air
00:33:54and try to get behind a defense that seems a little lackadaisical right now.
00:34:00On first down, airing it long to Howard and a flag thrown.
00:34:04It's going to be against Kevin Smith.
00:34:06Jammed a little hole.
00:34:09Will be Smith's second infraction on this series.
00:34:13Much like Carter got a little hold on Harper earlier,
00:34:17I think as that double move was made,
00:34:19he reached out and got a little handful of Desmond Howard.
00:34:24Illegal contact, number 26 on the defense, five yards, first down.
00:34:35And this is the kind of thing, if you're a Dallas Cowboy
00:34:38and you're making these kind of mistakes on the field,
00:34:40offensively and defensively, keep an eye on Jimmy Johnson.
00:34:44These are the kind of mistakes that Jimmy Johnson can use
00:34:47to motivate a team down the line.
00:34:49And Jimmy is a lot of things, but Jimmy is not a tolerant man of mistakes.
00:34:57He is the ultimate perfectionist.
00:35:00And there's a right trick to the 23 to close out the third quarter.
00:35:06So the Redskins driving as we head into the fourth.
00:35:10That's the end of the third quarter with the score,
00:35:12the Dallas Cowboys 35, the Washington Redskins 3.
00:35:16Our coverage will continue after this message from your local station.
00:35:20You're watching the NFL on CBS.
00:35:232.3, good moves.
00:35:26Can't say he exactly ripped that entry,
00:35:28so I don't think judges would score that very high.
00:35:30A little too much of a splash.
00:35:32First play of the fourth quarter.
00:35:35That's enough for a first down inside of the 20.
00:35:39Easily the most impressive drive of this game for the Washington Redskins
00:35:43since they got that first field goal on their first possession
00:35:46after Troy Aikman's fumble.
00:35:48And that has been done off the run and the pass combination.
00:35:52They look very confident, and Dallas as a defense looks very bored at the moment.
00:36:05Oh, Rippon.
00:36:07Tolbert almost untouched comes in on the quarterback for the third Cowboys sack.
00:36:16When you run this play, you count on this guy doing this.
00:36:21When this guy does this and your quarterback is not exactly nimble,
00:36:24you've got a serious problem working.
00:36:27Straight up the field,
00:36:29doesn't buy the fake.
00:36:31That's easy pickings.
00:36:35That's called no chance for the quarterback.
00:36:42Second down and 18.
00:36:48Timeout, Rippon and the Redskins.
00:36:52Timeout, Rippon and the Redskins.
00:37:02We'll take one with them.
00:37:04Can the Redskins find the end zone today?
00:37:0735-3 Dallas. We'll be right back.
00:37:10Nance and Randy Cross at Texas Stadium.
00:37:16This game was 7-3 Dallas going into the final two minutes of the first half.
00:37:21And the Cowboys struck twice for touchdowns.
00:37:26They've added two more to lead 35-3.
00:37:33Second down and 18 for the Redskins.
00:37:36The longer he takes, the louder it's going to get.
00:37:39One on the play clock, and they get it off just in time.
00:37:42They get it off just in time.
00:37:44Rippon, oh boy, is powered, hammered by Brown.
00:37:50Brown has delivered some pretty good shots today.
00:37:56And there's cornerbacks that are known for kind of a finesse type game.
00:37:59I don't think Larry Brown is one of those.
00:38:01He's a guy that's going to make you pay when you get it.
00:38:04That was a no deposit, no return right there.
00:38:13I think Mark Rippon and the Redskins, Jim,
00:38:17have got to put this ball up and into the end zone here.
00:38:20Third down and 18.
00:38:24And that pass, not a chance for Miner.
00:38:36And on fourth down, the offensive unit will stay on the field.
00:38:39Smith, 153 yards.
00:38:42Aikman, 80%. He's operating today.
00:38:47Two touchdowns, no interceptions.
00:38:49Kevin Williams runs back a punt for a touchdown.
00:38:54Fourth down and 18.
00:38:57That last play of Rippon showed no confidence.
00:39:02Miner, intercepted, no.
00:39:04Off the ground, it's Bates, but there's a flag down.
00:39:08Had a late hit right into Mark Rippon.
00:39:10It's going to be a personal foul, roughing the passer.
00:39:13Jeff Cote, I think it is.
00:39:21That was a route that would not have really yielded a first down anyway.
00:39:27Personal foul, roughing the quarterback.
00:39:29Number 77 on the defense.
00:39:31Half the distance to the goal.
00:39:33First down.
00:39:36Well, that was it.
00:39:37That was an instance there where Mark Rippon sure wasn't throwing for the first down,
00:39:40but he also sure as heck wasn't going to stand there and take a beating
00:39:44without trying to get a completion off.
00:39:46And he got the best of both worlds.
00:39:48He got it off, but then again, he got a late hit and drew a penalty
00:39:51and gets another set of downs.
00:39:55So, a new series for the Redskins.
00:39:58A new set of downs from the 13.
00:40:06Reggie Brooks.
00:40:09Ahead for two, Russell Maryland.
00:40:1273 yards now for Brooks, gives him 983 on the season.
00:40:20And we mentioned Lou Holtz earlier.
00:40:22Lou Holtz is here at the game.
00:40:24As his Notre Dame Fighting Irish have come to town to take on Texas A&M
00:40:29in the upcoming Cotton Bowl.
00:40:32That's a game that seems to be on Notre Dame's schedule this time of the year.
00:40:35About three of the last seven they played here in the Cotton Bowl.
00:40:37Yeah.
00:40:38Started with Tim Brown in the Heisman year they played down here.
00:40:41Last year also.
00:40:42And this year.
00:40:43Rippon.
00:40:45Miles.
00:40:51And the way Butch Davis' defense is dropping right now,
00:40:55Rippon's throwing the ball in front of the zones, in front of the defense,
00:40:58but, you know, at this point I don't see what the Redskins have to lose
00:41:02with putting the ball up into the end zone and trying to score a touchdown.
00:41:06First downs are one thing, but I think they need to just go into the end zone,
00:41:10get the points, because as good as tacklers and as good as pursuers
00:41:13as the Cowboys are, you throw it underneath, they're going to get you.
00:41:17Third down, eight.
00:41:25Oh, and the play's whistled dead.
00:41:29Trying to shuffle pass to Ernest Beiner.
00:41:34And Middleton, he's been upset already once today.
00:41:45This is a byproduct of really how proud an organization and team these Redskins are.
00:41:49Before the ball was snapped, false start on the right guard, five yards, still third down.
00:41:57You're not really, Jim, going to see the Redskins take much guff off the Cowboys.
00:42:01Now with the rich winning tradition that the Redskins have,
00:42:05don't be surprised if there's more and more of this pushing and shoving
00:42:08as this game goes further along.
00:42:16Third and 13 it leaves the Redskins.
00:42:21Monk to the right, Sanders and Howard to the left.
00:42:26Beiner.
00:42:35Darren Woodson came up to make the play, and you're shaking your head with that one.
00:42:41You know, I really don't understand what good a field goal is going to do you
00:42:45when you're down 35-3, why you don't throw it into the end zone,
00:42:49use your passing play, sure you're going to get good running yardage,
00:42:52but, you know, you've had a drive coming through here in the last couple possessions
00:42:57where you've moved the ball effectively, and I just happen to believe
00:43:00Richie Pettemo's offensive coaches need to put their heads together
00:43:03and find a way to get this thing into the blue paint.
00:43:05Fourth and 11.
00:43:12Intercepted.
00:43:13Smith rattles to Washington.
00:43:15Washington out of bounds with a flag thrown in at the 32.
00:43:25We've got a couple of flags down, one at the 20 and one at the 32.
00:43:31Smith on the interception, his sixth, and Jim, maybe I'll answer my own question,
00:43:37maybe that's why the Redskins don't want to throw the ball down towards the end zone,
00:43:41maybe they don't want an interception and a turnover.
00:43:46Washington.
00:44:04Bernie Kosar with a helmet on.
00:44:07Holding number 76 on the offense.
00:44:12Unnecessary roughness, number 87 after the return.
00:44:16By the clean hands rule, the unnecessary roughness will be enforced after the interception.
00:44:22It'll be a 15-yard penalty after the interception.
00:44:26First down.
00:44:31Otherwise said, turnover, penalty after the turnover, that's going to be assessed.
00:44:39Bad situation for the Redskins, nice lateral and work by the Dallas Cowboys,
00:44:44but just a rough, rough situation for the Washington Redskins.
00:44:50You have to really feel for a team that so recently was so proud and now really is so bad.
00:44:57And they will slump to four and 11.
00:44:59Bernie Kosar is indeed in.
00:45:02He pointed, Red Cashin pointed toward the Cowboys on number 87,
00:45:06but it was against the Redskins, number 87 Ron Middleton.
00:45:09So the Cowboys with Kosar will begin at the 45.
00:45:14With Dallas.
00:45:17He started a game at Atlanta.
00:45:20Has thrown 60 passes, 60 passes without an interception.
00:45:25Paulman plows for two.
00:45:28Hamilton on the hit.
00:45:33Bill Aikman will call it a day at 80%.
00:45:38Two touchdowns, no interceptions.
00:45:43He had thrown only three interceptions the entire season,
00:45:47and then last week, he had thrown three.
00:45:52And rated as the second quarterback in the league behind Steve Young entering the league.
00:45:58Second and eight.
00:46:02Bernie slings it over toward Williams.
00:46:06Bernie looks very, very sharp in past performances,
00:46:10but he's not the kind of guy that's going to be able to do that.
00:46:14He's not the kind of guy that's going to be able to do that.
00:46:18Very, very sharp in past performances,
00:46:21but right there slings that one a little bit high.
00:46:24We go back here to Charles Haley, and now you got Gogan in there.
00:46:28So now you got the triumvirate together,
00:46:31and they're trying to figure out this whole meaning of life, I think, on the sideline.
00:46:34Charles, probably the smartest guy in the entire group there,
00:46:38took this day off after his medical examination on his back.
00:46:42Though I can't happen to tell you that I don't think Troy didn't have almost as easy a day as Charles did.
00:46:49Third and eight.
00:47:00This game has the look now of a contest with about a minute to go,
00:47:04but there's still 11 minutes.
00:47:07Before the ball was snapped, number 89.
00:47:10Five yards, still third down.
00:47:13Scott Galbraith back up tight end. Flag for that one.
00:47:19Now here's something here that Jimmy Johnson is going to harp on for the rest of this week,
00:47:26and that is the penalty situation.
00:47:29Look what they've done. 11 for 95 yards.
00:47:32If you want a negative to dwell on if you're a coach for the week,
00:47:35there's your negative to dwell on after a big performance by your team.
00:47:39Third and 13.
00:47:42Tyrone Williams.
00:47:49His first NFL catch.
00:47:52He had a touchdown in a preseason game at London's Wembley Stadium.
00:47:58And the first year player out of Western Ontario makes the catch to move the football into Washington Territory.
00:48:05And on a deep slanting pattern, a catch he'll always remember.
00:48:10Well, maybe always remember.
00:48:13Maybe he might have lost your memory with that hit.
00:48:15He hit a shot like that.
00:48:19Activated today. He's been inactive many games, but with Irvin a question mark,
00:48:26Jimmy decided to activate Williams, and he gets into the action.
00:48:30Now it's Coleman for no gain.
00:48:36And your thoughts on the 1 o'clock finals, Randy?
00:48:40Well, you have to really take your hat off at this point.
00:48:42I believe to Wayne Fonts and the Detroit Lions and what they've done without Barry Sanders.
00:48:47To be honest, I'm very surprised they did not go in the tank.
00:48:51They have come around, and they are tied still with Green Bay at 9 and 6.
00:48:56There's a surprise right there. Cincinnati having a season they had,
00:48:59and suddenly Atlanta loses two in a row to teams Washington and Cincinnati.
00:49:04They really should have beat.
00:49:07Second and 10.
00:49:10Pozar lost it to Williams.
00:49:13Oh, he made the catch, but out of bounds.
00:49:16What concentration.
00:49:22But it appeared to be the right call.
00:49:24That was so good. Why don't we just give him a 1 with little brackets around it and an asterisk?
00:49:28Well, it wasn't inbound, but it was a great catch.
00:49:31Good concentration as this ball is thrown up by Bernie.
00:49:35And watch how much contact and how many times this ball bounces around.
00:49:39Off the hands, off the chest, off the face, off the hands, and caught.
00:49:44There's Carter.
00:49:47Carter's got that inside position.
00:49:49By the way, he was on Williams there. Could have been a pass interference call.
00:49:53By the time he had grasp of the football control, he already had one foot out of bounds.
00:49:58Third and 10.
00:50:01And a little too low for Harper.
00:50:04But a flag down.
00:50:11By the way, as you peruse the late scores, the Rams have lost by four touchdowns to Cleveland.
00:50:17It's a final, and Bettis finished today with 16 carries for 56 yards.
00:50:24So with Emmitt Smith right now at 153.
00:50:35That gives Emmitt a 35-yard lead for the rushing title going into the last week.
00:50:42You heard that crowd reaction. That wasn't them cheering that penalty.
00:50:45They were cheering the Phoenix Giants score that was just showed on the board as having two minutes to go.
00:50:50They were pretty happy about that.
00:50:53You saw Jimmy Johnson take a little quick glance because that's being followed extremely closely.
00:51:04Coleman with a 25.
00:51:09You look at Jimmy Johnson and Dan Reeves going into that game next week.
00:51:12Jim, I think they both got what they wanted.
00:51:15I think Jimmy Johnson got a good performance out of his Cowboys,
00:51:18and he's got a situation where there's enough negatives in this game for the Cowboys for them to harp on a little bit
00:51:23and keep his guys going and give them that extra little juice for next week.
00:51:27And Dan Reeves, I don't think ever really wants to lose the game,
00:51:31but by losing that game really puts his team in a desperate back against the wall.
00:51:36You know, down there in the whatever that area that is you call there in the middle land is down and around there.
00:51:43That's a tough place to come, and it's going to be tougher with that team fired up.
00:51:47Second and seven.
00:51:49And Coleman, what were you wanting to call that area?
00:51:52I'm never really quite sure.
00:51:53We used to fly in over that.
00:51:55I don't know.
00:51:56I've heard it called a lot of things, everything from kind of a toxic dump where the stadium was to a marsh to a swamp.
00:52:04You've got to say, well, it's probably the nicest sporting facility there is with the track and the arena and everything else.
00:52:11Giant fans call it bucolic, that area.
00:52:15The metal ends.
00:52:19Third and two.
00:52:24A.G. and Coleman in the backfield.
00:52:27And it's A.G. for no gain.
00:52:32Copeland and Edwards came up.
00:52:37Here's the guy the Cowboys desperately need to be back and need Charles Haley to be playing.
00:52:43It might not be in the obvious situations, but you watch next week against the Giants, you watch the playoff situations, even if they're playing a giant team.
00:52:54When a team has to throw and a team is conscious of a pass rush, there is the number one guy you take a look at and you find out where he is in the field.
00:53:04The Cowboys need that pressure.
00:53:07Murray.
00:53:09Right down the middle.
00:53:14Saw Haley douse Leon let for a moment from behind Dallas up by five touchdowns halfway through the final quarter.
00:53:24They say bring on the Giants.
00:53:30Eddie Murray.
00:53:33Short boot.
00:53:34Brian Mitchell.
00:53:39Matt Van Der Beek.
00:53:42And company, Bill Bates.
00:53:46Joe Fishback.
00:53:47Great special teams play here in Dallas.
00:53:51Rich Gannon will be coming in at quarterback for the Redskins when we come back.
00:53:58Those were not cottage cheese thighs.
00:54:02Whoa.
00:54:05Brooks.
00:54:08Miles meets him.
00:54:10And let's update you on Smith's battle with Bettis and Thomas.
00:54:14Not to be forgotten.
00:54:15It's a 36-yard advantage going into the final weekend.
00:54:20Smith going for three straight rushing titles.
00:54:22He's missed two games.
00:54:23He's in it.
00:54:24But don't rule Thurman Thomas out.
00:54:26Remember two things.
00:54:27Dallas ends with the Giants.
00:54:28They have a very good rush defense.
00:54:30The Rams end up with the Bears.
00:54:32They have a very good rush defense.
00:54:34Don't be surprised if Thurman Thomas kind of comes back out in third place and grabs this thing.
00:54:38Unless one of these guys has a big game next Sunday.
00:54:41Second and 11.
00:54:42Gannon.
00:54:43Gannon with Jeff Koch from behind.
00:54:45Got it away in time.
00:54:46Brooks.
00:54:48Slips at the 26.
00:54:516'3".
00:54:57That looked like right there Brooks had more moves than his feet could stand.
00:55:01He was going so fast and moving so good.
00:55:04Suddenly his feet just said, no, I can't do it.
00:55:11The Cardinals go to 6-9.
00:55:13Moore with two touchdowns.
00:55:15That's a final.
00:55:18And a good chance to finish 7-9 with Atlanta down in Atlanta next week.
00:55:24Third down.
00:55:25Gannon.
00:55:28Wycheck near the first.
00:55:31Darren Smith on the hit.
00:55:34Let's go ahead and adjust the standings in the NFC East.
00:55:41Go ahead, Randy, really update it.
00:55:43We'll update it, okay?
00:55:44Thank you.
00:55:4511-4, all right?
00:55:48We're going to say they've got that thing working, all right?
00:55:52Try it one more time.
00:55:53One more time?
00:55:54Yeah.
00:55:55What do you want?
00:55:56What do you think here?
00:55:59Any way you look at it, whoever wins next week has home field.
00:56:02Whoever has home field has a huge advantage.
00:56:05That was enough for the first.
00:56:08Oh, that's a smash.
00:56:10Or you say splatter, I think.
00:56:13Jones started at middle linebacker as a rookie,
00:56:18on their way to a Super Bowl victory,
00:56:20and now has been replaced in the middle by Ken Norton.
00:56:23One of the real pivotal moves made here by the Cowboys
00:56:26was putting Ken Norton in that middle linebacker position.
00:56:29And Jones has handled it well.
00:56:31I think he realizes he's got a future here in Dallas.
00:56:33It's just that Kenny Norton came in here and did the job he did,
00:56:37and once he started playing the way he was,
00:56:39there was no chance to get Jones back in.
00:56:41Second and 11.
00:56:46There's our new redskin, Gregory Clifton.
00:56:51We mentioned he's from Johnson C. Smith University,
00:56:54and for the true longtime Cowboy fans,
00:56:57they may recall that they're tied in number 84.
00:57:01Back in the 60s and early 70s,
00:57:03Pettis Norman was from that same school, Johnson C. Smith.
00:57:09That was pulled from way, way, way, way down.
00:57:12Hey.
00:57:15We are now worthy, Mr. Dan.
00:57:17It may tell you which team I followed as an adolescent.
00:57:21Third and one.
00:57:25And Brooks, we got one storyline as Brooks picks up the first down.
00:57:30He's moving in on 1,000 yards, all right?
00:57:33He needs 13 to go.
00:57:35Here's him, 77 for the game, 987 on the season.
00:57:41And we talked about Pettis.
00:57:43It'll be the first time a pair of rookie running backs
00:57:45from the same school came out their first year
00:57:49and rushed for 1,000 yards.
00:57:51You see the talent, Rick Meyer and things like that,
00:57:54and these guys, Smith, the tight end in New Orleans.
00:57:56Why doesn't Lou Holtz win a national championship every year?
00:58:04Cannon sliding away from trouble with the 50.
00:58:12Made the point earlier in the game that, you know,
00:58:14about Charles Haley being a big subtraction from this team
00:58:18and they need him back bad.
00:58:19Mark Stepnoski against Minnesota, tore a knee ligament,
00:58:22and the word was he was scheduled to have surgery soon
00:58:25on that anterior cruciate,
00:58:27and he's crucial not having that offensive line.
00:58:29I think here's a guy that has great quickness,
00:58:32is very, very intelligent.
00:58:33He's a guy that Torrey Aikman really leans on inside there,
00:58:37and Frank Cornish is going to have a big challenge
00:58:39coming up to him in the playoff.
00:58:44Cannon tried to duck away from Tolbert,
00:58:47but Tolbert gets his second sack.
00:58:51To Cornish's credit, though, we showed the graphic at halftime
00:58:55that Emmitt had accumulated the bulk of his yardage
00:58:59right up the middle running behind Cornish.
00:59:01Well, the challenge Cornish is going to have,
00:59:03I think, is going to come on the passing side of the game.
00:59:06Teams like the Giants, teams in the playoffs,
00:59:09are going to try to run things inside
00:59:11that will challenge the coordination
00:59:13of the offensive line inside.
00:59:15Frank Cornish, I'm a little prejudiced about this,
00:59:17but he's from UCLA, so he's automatically got to be
00:59:20a very, very smart football player.
00:59:22That won't be a problem.
00:59:23The problem is going to be picking up the stunts as a group.
00:59:26He hasn't been in there long enough.
00:59:27Third and 14, and Brooks gets to the 50.
00:59:34I guess you didn't go to UCLA, right?
00:59:37Yeah.
00:59:38I wouldn't give a Trojan that kind of compliment.
00:59:41I haven't heard that all season for a Trojan.
00:59:46All right, we've reached the two-minute warning.
00:59:5138-3, Dallas over the Redskins.
01:00:04Watch the hang time of this punt by Roby.
01:00:07He's going to put this one up there.
01:00:13Williams doesn't want to touch it.
01:00:16And it's Mase again.
01:00:18Wow.
01:00:22He made a special teams play before.
01:00:25You rarely see the ball batted back like that.
01:00:27It happens a few times a year, and he follows it up
01:00:30by something even more impressive,
01:00:32timing this just right as the ball hits the ground
01:00:35to catch it after the first bounce.
01:00:38And all he does is basically say, what five-yard penalty?
01:00:41Let's put the ball back where it was going to be anyway,
01:00:43on the one.
01:00:46Great play by Mase.
01:00:52One-thirty-eight.
01:00:58One-thirty-eight remaining.
01:01:00Look for him to put the ball in the hands, maybe,
01:01:02of the fullback.
01:01:03I don't think he has enough room to kneel down here.
01:01:09An A.G. run down by Al Noga.
01:01:14Now he has enough room to kneel down.
01:01:16That's right.
01:01:17Al Noga.
01:01:19Now he has enough room to kneel down.
01:01:21That's right.
01:01:22One more time, maybe, and we'll call it a game.
01:01:27A chance to thank our crew here,
01:01:31our producer, Mark Wolf,
01:01:34and our director, Mike Arnold.
01:01:37Father Leo.
01:01:39Father Leo Ambrose from Florida
01:01:41goes back to the Miami days with Jimmy Johnson,
01:01:44Paul Johnson, Powell, and in for the holidays.
01:01:47So close to many of the Cowboys.
01:01:55Our associate director, Lance Barrow,
01:01:57John Colmansberger, our broadcast associate,
01:02:01Jim Stamos on stat, or on spotting,
01:02:04Pat McGrath on stats.
01:02:07I'd like to thank all of the great people here in Dallas
01:02:10who have helped us through the years
01:02:12bring you NFL football on CBS.
01:02:21This is situation.
01:02:22Richie Pettibone looking forward to the last game of the year
01:02:25next week against Minnesota.
01:02:28Had a game go bad in a year that's gone worse.
01:02:3638-3 final.
01:02:38Redskins manage a field goal
01:02:40for the first time they had the football,
01:02:43but would not score again.
01:02:45Pettibone and Johnson meet at midfield.
01:02:48The Cowboys now
01:02:51start preparing for the New York Giants.
01:02:55We'll be right back.
