00:00It's midnight in New Jersey and the police are guarding the road outside the city, looking for criminals.
00:04They stop a truck and a policeman approaches the driver to ask for a personal card, which the driver does not have.
00:09Other policemen check the back of the truck and are shocked to find a large group of dogs.
00:15A few moments later, the psychiatrist Evelyn comes to the police station to assess the driver and decide between a prison or a mental institution.
00:22When he enters the cell, he runs over the driver with a wheelchair and notices a new wound.
00:27The person turns around and Evelyn finds out that he is a drug queen named Doug, who claims that the dogs in the truck were his children.
00:33Then Evelyn persuades him to share his story.
00:35His father, Mike, was raising dogs for the prison, and he would even starve the dogs a few days before each prison sentence to make them more aggressive.
00:42Mike also used every excuse to hit his wife and Doug, especially if they tried to feed the dogs.
00:48However, he loved his old son Richie because he caught him.
00:51The dogs were aggressive during the fight, but they loved Doug, who would lie next to the cage to talk to them and smear them, and sometimes even feed them.
00:59Unfortunately, one day Richie caught him at work and told his mother, who had met Doug during lunchtime.
01:05Doug admitted that he loves dogs more than his family, so his angry mother pulled him out and threw him in the cage with the dogs, who immediately came closer to smear him and comfort him.
01:12Since then, Doug has lived his life in the cage, including during the cold winter, eating all the leftovers that his father would throw at him.
01:19One day, his mother brought him some treats and told him to dig and hide, and then she announced that she was running away because she was tired and wanted to give the child a better life.
01:27Doug tells Evelyn that he doesn't mean that.
01:30A little later, Richie put a sign on the cage that said, in the name of God, saying that his mother had gone by Doug's mistake.
01:36However, Doug laughed because he saw the sign backwards and God wrote P.A.S.S.
01:40After Evelyn left for the day, Flashback discovers what happened before Doug's arrest.
01:45A man named Juan came to the abandoned college building and found a doberman guarding the hallway.
01:50He searched for the dogs and the door opened in Doug's secret room, which looked pretty nice given the poor condition of the building.
01:57Juan had installed all the cameras a few months ago.
02:00Now, Doug was given a bribe, which was found by Martha, the old lady in charge of the local ruble shop that sold dog meat.
02:06He explained that the gangster, known as Jellat, took money from local companies every week,
02:11but Martha could no longer pay him and was forced to sell some of her favorite family items.
02:16Doug said he didn't care because he would take care of it himself.
02:19A little later, Doug went to his room in Udovica and waited on the street near the club where the gangsters were hanging out.
02:24He sent a little dog inside with a phone in his mouth, and the dog gave the phone to Jellat just before he rang it.
02:30The gangster took over the call when the bigger dog also broke into the club and put his mouth on Jellat's apron, pulling him away from the ball.
02:37Doug told the guy not to move, or the dog would cause permanent damage, and then he explained that he wanted the executor to leave Martha alone, or the dog would enjoy a meal full of walnuts.
02:47Jellat agreed to the agreement, and as soon as the dogs ran out of the bar, he sent his people after them.
02:52It was morning, and Evelyn visited Doug's house while the police were collecting evidence.
02:56There was blood everywhere, and let's not forget the bullet holes.
03:00After picking up a few things, Evelyn returned to the apartment where Doug had already washed and dried himself.
03:05He is grateful to her for bringing his things and continues his story.
03:09Little Doug had to live in a cage for months, and education flowed from a magazine he found hidden behind the board, which was probably left by his mother.
03:17One day, one of the dogs got tired, so Doug hid the dogs away from the eyes of his family.
03:22Unfortunately, his uncle saw him again and told his father, who immediately went out armed and ready to take care of the dogs.
03:28Doug immediately locked the cage door and started barking at his mother while the dogs were barking and cutting.
03:33Angry, his mother shot Doug through the door and forced him to fall.
03:36The bullet hit his hand and forced him to lose his finger, and then ricocheted and hit Doug in the groin.
03:42Worried that this could escalate into a real death, he pulled his mother inside after dropping the scythe for Doug.
03:48Not being able to move much, Doug put the scythe around his bloody hand and finger in a small bag.
03:53Then he reached for the magazine and showed his dog a picture of a police car while giving him a bag with his finger,
03:59telling the dog to go through the hole left by the bullet and find the police.
04:03The dog ran with the bag in his mouth and crossed the city until he found the police car he was sitting in, until the police paid attention to him.
04:10Soon, a bunch of police officers surrounded Doug's house and flew in, running into a boy in a tie and shouting that he was standing next to his mother in fear.
04:18Emergency assistance quickly took Doug away, but the doctor did not take the bullet.
04:21In the present, Doug explains to Evelyn that he can walk a little with a prosthesis behind his leg, just enough to do things like getting into bed.
04:28He can also stand, but only for a few seconds.
04:32The doctors did not remove the bullet, because if he moves things in that area, they can leave him completely paraplegic.
04:37And that also poses a risk every time Doug wakes up.
04:41His mother was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but only recovered after two weeks.
04:45Richie was 12 years old and released after 8 because of good behavior.
04:50The day he came out, several dogs waited for him in front of the prison and followed him.
04:54As Richie walked through the city, several dogs joined him first, until Richie finally noticed them.
05:00He tried to run across the street, but the dogs jumped on him and killed him.
05:04After being released from the hospital, Doug was sent to an orphanage, but he could not lose his friends.
05:08Other children always played outside, so he stayed alone in his wheelchair in the library and read a lot.
05:15The only person who befriended him was Sauma, Doug's first and only love.
05:20She was a young woman who helped around the orphanage and loved Shakespeare.
05:24Since she heard that Doug liked to read, she met him with all her favorite books and even convinced him to do small plays for other children.
05:31Most of their props were cheap or handmade, but they put a lot of heart and passion into their play, so the other children liked it.
05:39Doug had a lot of fun dressing up and really enjoyed what Sauma taught him how to put on makeup, because she said it helped him to be what he wanted.
05:46Sauma was quick, creative and had a unique perspective, which is why Doug quickly fell in love with her.
05:52Unfortunately, one day she left the orphanage to continue her acting career, and during the following years, Doug would collect all the news he saw about her pieces, carefully adding them to his diary.
06:02In the end, Doug grew up and went to college through online courses, he got a diploma in biology before he got a job as a dog handler.
06:10When Sauma finally made it to Broadway, Doug went to see her play and tried to approach the audience, but everyone resisted and he could not approach her.
06:18Fortunately, he was allowed to go behind the curtain, and Sauma recognized him immediately. She was very happy to see him and really appreciated his flowers, but she got even more excited when he gave her a memento.
06:29Sauma was so affectionate that she thanked him with a kiss, because of which his hopes grew.
06:34Doug wanted to admit his feelings when he was surprised that the director came in and also praised the memento.
06:39Doug was upset when he heard that Sauma was married to him and that they were already expecting a baby.
06:44With a broken heart, Doug congratulated him and returned to the shelter, where he stood up so that he could bark and hit the cages to fight his anger.
06:52Dogs licked him even when he fell on the floor, so he fought with a razor until he managed to open the cage, which is why all the dogs came out and smeared Doug to comfort him.
07:01After that, Doug combed his hair as a symbol of forgiveness.
07:04A little later, two men from the government appeared to inform him that they were closing the shelter due to a budget cut.
07:10Doug also said that the budget was being cut every year since he took over the job and that he was still maintaining the shelter because he lived on donations, so it was the only municipal financing that the building itself had.
07:20Feeling caught, the men admitted that the page was sold to the programmer to make a profit.
07:26Doug had an appointment until Monday to move out, and the dogs were hoping to be sent to another shelter.
07:31However, when Monday came, the government closed the building empty because Doug ran away with the dogs.
07:37Then Doug moved to an abandoned college building, where he spent time reading to his dog family.
07:42He soon started looking for a job, but every place would reject him because of the wheelchair.
07:47One afternoon, Doug went to the club looking for a bartender, and it was time for him to see the awakening of the drag queens and immediately fell in love with their costumes and their art.
07:55The owner told Doug that he had already hired someone for the bar, but Doug announced that he wanted to act instead, sharing his experience.
08:02The man also said that people would not be interested in the performance in wheelchairs, so Doug got up from the chair and explained that he could stand the whole song.
08:10The drag queens were very impressed and considered him sweet, so they convinced the owner to give Doug a chance.
08:16From the next Friday, the queens helped Doug to get the costume and wig for his performance.
08:21In order to leave a good impression, he removed the prosthesis from his leg and asked his new friends to be ready to pick him up when he finished.
08:28The queens helped him get to the bar and waited for the curtains to open when he was introduced as Edith Piaf.
08:34Doug started singing in French, with his hands slightly moving, and the public and his associates were mesmerized by his voice.
08:41Everyone could hear the raw emotion in the lyrics, and in the end everyone was clapping and cheering for Doug, wishing more.
08:47The curtains closed and the other queens rushed to pick up Doug before he fell.
08:51From then on, Doug was allowed to perform in the club every Friday night.
08:55Obviously, this was not enough for life, so Doug started a service that connected lonely people with the right dog for society and protection.
09:03He also provided additional assistance to those in need, including illegal activities such as what he did with The Executioner.
09:11One day while he was cooking, the dogs brought him any ingredient he needed for the set, and Doug forced him to realize that it could be used for what he called a fair redistribution of wealth.
09:22His smallest dog would hide in the house of rich people through the windows or open on the ceiling, which remained off because of their small size, then the dog would open a larger entrance so that all the other dogs could enter.
09:33Together they would steal all the money they could take, and no one ever suspected that the animals were doing it.
09:38Things were going well for a while, until one day a rich lady named Agent for Insurance Eckerman appeared, who thought she was trying to cheat insurance.
09:47Allegedly, the windows and doors in her house were locked, except for a small bathroom window, and not to mention that her dogs were not barking.
09:54However, the lady gave him security camera footage, and when Eckerman started watching them, he saw the dog running out with something in its mouth.
10:01It looked crazy, but then he remembered other mysterious cases from the last few months and checked other footages.
10:08He was shocked when he found out that the same dogs were always on the screen and that other agents had discarded them as insane thieves.
10:14On one specific footage, Eckerman found a guy who pretended to be a guard waiting for a dog with a truck.
10:20He searched the registration plate and found Doug's profile, eventually discovering that he was working in a club.
10:25One Friday evening, Eckerman was present at Doug's performance, and on his shock he was wearing one of Doug's stolen necklaces.
10:31After the show, Eckerman went to the canteen with flowers, pretending to be Doug's fan.
10:36He invited him to dinner, but Doug rejected him because he had to go home to feed his children.
10:41When Doug left the bar, Eckerman followed him discreetly.
10:44When he entered the old building with a gun, the dogs warned Doug, who immediately begged them to hide.
10:49Eckerman found Doberman guarding the hallway and thinking about shooting, but at that moment Doug opened the door and told him that he was in the safe.
10:56When he got the box, Eckerman sat down to check if everything was inside, and Doug used the opportunity to order his dogs to kill him.
11:03Now that most of his life is covered, Doug says why he was arrested.
11:07The evening after Doug helped Marty, Gelat and his gang found the abandoned building because they were beating Juan until he spoke.
11:13After they were sure they were in the right place, they killed Juan with a gun.
11:17The sound warned Doug of their presence and told the dogs to take up arms while he was grabbing weapons and his collection.
11:24Gelat ignored Doberman and started shooting at the metal door unsuccessfully, while Doug ran away with a narrow, hidden hallway.
11:31At that moment, a small dog ran through the hallway and the gangster followed him into the hole so that bigger dogs would pull him in and kill him.
11:37Then the gang split up and began to follow various dogs that continued to rush into the hallway.
11:42The guy followed the dog into the bathroom, which had a wet floor, and the dog let go of the cable to kill him with electricity.
11:47The other guy followed Chewbacca into the basement, and when he got close enough, Doug shot him through the wall.
11:52The man entered the wrong room and found himself surrounded by huge dogs that immediately killed him.
11:57While the small dog was running, another guy fell into a hidden hole, and when his friend tried to help him, the dog pushed him down.
12:04Then Doug came and shot them both.
12:07In the hallway, the gangster shot at the castle and was left to hang from the ceiling so that the dog could catch him.
12:11Nearby, another gangster also fell into the castle and was also broken.
12:16Gelat began to get nervous and asked all his people to bring him better weapons.
12:20At that moment, Doug opened fire through the wall, killing several gangsters.
12:24When Gelat returned the bullet, he injured Doug's back before he managed to bend over.
12:29The gangster pulled his body through the floor and went down the narrow corridor to return to his squad, while Gelat needed bigger weapons to finally open the door.
12:36He went inside and tried to shoot Doug just to find out that he had run out of bullets, and the dogs took the opportunity to kill him.
12:43After that, Doug and his dogs ran into the truck, and then the police caught them.
12:48While Doug was waiting in the police car, he gave the dogs a sign and they immediately ran away.
12:52In the present, Evelyn tells Doug that she has heard enough and is leaving.
12:55Then Doug blows near the window and laughs when he hears the dog barking.
13:00It turned out that his dog was waiting for him outside, and at the sound of a bell, all the other dogs also come to that area.
13:06While Doug is dressed nicely with the things Evelyn brought him, the dogs enter the station and scare the front guard not to notice.
13:12Then the dog steals the keys and passes the bars to throw the keys next to Doug's door.
13:18After that, Doug runs away and leaves his chair, determined to walk to the church across the street.
13:23He asks God to bring his judgment, and then he falls to the ground while taking his last breath.
13:28Soon all his dogs surround him, and every dog in town also comes to say hello.
13:32In the meantime, Doberman goes to Evelyn's house to protect her from her violent ex-husband.
