00:00:00You
00:00:30I
00:01:00I
00:01:14You have to keep in mind that in the late 1880s the legal system was still finding its way
00:01:19Substantial evidence was hard to come by if you falsely convicted a man. They're gonna be held in pay
00:01:25Much of the time that hell rained down on you from the other family members
00:01:30The same could be said if you let a guilty man go free
00:01:35So no matter what the verdict was someone was just not gonna be happy. It is my job to see the justice is served
00:01:44That's what a judge must do no matter what others say. I think I've done a damn good job
00:01:49Now what goes down outside of my courtroom?
00:01:52I have no control over and I'm sorry, but I just can't lose sleep over that
00:02:22You
00:02:52You
00:03:22You
00:03:52You
00:04:02Now I wasn't there on March 18th
00:04:061882 so I will never be able to tell you what actually happened reports buried
00:04:12Investigations were conducted and I can only listen to the testimony and work from the facts at hand
00:04:17A man was brutally murdered that there is no doubt
00:04:20Unfortunately that also tends to happen in the town of tombstone
00:04:24It is a responsible party or parties that is in question
00:04:27But as I've said judge can only go by the facts at hand and then he must well use his best judgment
00:04:48Oh
00:05:00Shoot please don't
00:05:04Elizabeth you need to stop firing that gun. You want to get us killed out here
00:05:10There's nobody around
00:05:12You don't know that anyone could be hiding in their mountains a man from Indiana
00:05:17Afraid of Indians Indians are only one of my concerns
00:05:20Don't you read the papers the town of tombstone isn't the friendliest place in America?
00:05:26Don't you remember hearing about them street killings? I think four or five people died near that coral
00:05:31It's a dangerous place Liz and we're only a few miles away from yeah
00:05:35Well, that was like a year ago five months ago and people are still getting shot out here
00:05:40Well, that's exactly why I brought this gun can't really protect myself. I don't know how to use it
00:05:47Liz stop that you don't need to protect yourself what your husband is here for
00:05:53Okay, so take your shot show me your expert marksmanship, honey
00:05:59I grow things for a living. I don't destroy them. You know, I don't believe in firearms. Oh
00:06:05That's right. This is an imaginary gun that I'm holding
00:06:10I just wish you weren't holding
00:06:12Okay, having a gun is just asking for trouble
00:06:15Well, sometimes trouble comes around whether you're asking for it or not
00:06:18I guess that depends on who's standing on the other side of that barrel
00:06:22Remind me why I married you again
00:06:25They can have something to do with my good looks and charm and disposition
00:06:30No, I don't think that was it. I think I just like having someone around to carry my bags for me
00:06:37Just wait till I get you alone
00:06:40Looks like we're alone right now
00:06:44Is that an invitation miss Cooley
00:06:47No, you said there might be Indians watching us and since when do you listen to anything?
00:06:53I have to say ever since I said I do
00:06:57Get your cotton-picking hands on my baby sister
00:07:06You made it yeah, I figured if you can come all this way from, Indiana
00:07:10I could make it down here from Oregon. I haven't seen you since you left, Missouri. It was what like
00:07:14Ten years ago something like that. My dad remarried. I think you were six or seven
00:07:21I've grown up a lot since then, huh? Yes, you had
00:07:25This lucky man
00:07:27Depends on what day you ask her now Joe, you know, I'd say you're a lucky man any day of the week
00:07:34But ask me if I'm a lucky gal and that answer my very
00:07:37You married a handful
00:07:39If nobody warned me, sorry about that Miller
00:07:44Joseph pleasure to finally meet you. Yeah, I'm sorry. I didn't make the wedding. I'm sorry. You missed the funerals
00:07:51Yeah, I
00:07:54Try to make it I really did I just
00:07:58Did you make it up from Texas he did actually it was really nice to see him
00:08:02How's he doing, he's well real well
00:08:07Hey, where's this ranch I keep hearing about huh when the stagecoach dropped us off the driver told us it was supposed to be
00:08:13Somewhere around here. Yeah, it is. It's right up there. I just got down from there. I heard some gunshots and
00:08:20Figured it could be Frank
00:08:22Did you hear him? That'll be my wife
00:08:25the least dangerous shooter in the West
00:08:27Just because I cannot hit trees and rocks does not mean I can't hit a moving target. Don't do that
00:08:34Guns aren't toys Elizabeth. Someone could get hurt
00:08:38So I keep trying to tell her what a bunch of scaredy-cats
00:08:43Let's just go back to the ranch
00:08:47Need help with my bag or my wife
00:08:50And now as they say is where we introduce the honorable judge wells-spicer if you haven't guessed by now that happens to be me
00:08:59while taking
00:09:00coroner DM Matthews inquest into consideration
00:09:05Concerning the facts of Morgan Irving's death
00:09:09I'm going to tell you a little bit more about Morgan Irving's death
00:09:12But I'm going to tell you a little bit more about Morgan Irving's death
00:09:16Into consideration
00:09:18Concerning the facts of Morgan Earp's untimely death at Campbell and Hatch's billiard parlor late last night
00:09:29Order order in the court, please
00:09:38Unfortunately
00:09:40It does not provide proof
00:09:43Of the man or men who pulled the trigger
00:09:45and concerning Pete Spence's wife
00:09:48Marietta Duarte
00:09:49In regards to her testimony
00:09:51The defense is absolutely correct
00:09:54A spouse cannot testify against her husband under any circumstances
00:10:00Therefore due to lack of substantial evidence
00:10:03This court deems that all charges must be dropped against the defendants. You are free to go case dismissed
00:10:16Now I know the Earps were not pleased by my decision, but the law is the law
00:10:22Pete Spence was free to go back to his ranch, but I think he might have been too scared to leave
00:10:27When your enemies are the Earps you can be in a heap of trouble and sometimes even the law can't protect you
00:10:45So
00:10:55This is Frank's place, huh? Nope, this is partner Pete Spence's place
00:11:00But neither of them are here yet
00:11:02Is anybody here?
00:11:04Just me
00:11:12Elizabeth
00:11:16Elizabeth
00:11:18Still well
00:11:20Cooley
00:11:23It's elizabeth cooley now and this is my husband joseph
00:11:33Well, hell it's nice to finally meet you in person after all these years me too
00:11:42Father
00:11:44I have to say I had my doubts you'd show
00:11:49I had my doubts too
00:11:51Your middle had helped convince me
00:11:54Is your brother jack coming? No
00:11:57He's stuck in fort stockton in texas
00:11:59He's a scout for general davidson now. Yeah
00:12:02Yeah, he did good for himself
00:12:04Makes me happy
00:12:06Jack was a smart boy. He knew what he wanted and left
00:12:10So where's frank?
00:12:12well
00:12:13He was already gone by the time we arrived said he had something to take care of in tucson
00:12:18He should be along in a day or so
00:12:20You look a little concerned
00:12:22Well, I heard some rumors that frank had had some problems recently with the herb brothers in tombstone. So
00:12:29Wyatt herb
00:12:31Heard of them in indiana. Oh, yeah
00:12:33That shootout by the okay corral
00:12:35Already famous in many parts of the country
00:12:38Your brother frank was involved in that no
00:12:41That's between the clans mcclory's and the irks. Yeah, but frank's been friends with mcclory's and mcclinton's for a while
00:12:47And he was arrested twice last year by virgil herb
00:12:51Sounds like you've been in contact with frank. Oh, yeah
00:12:54through letters
00:12:55Well, that's something
00:12:58I heard about clara
00:13:01And your mama
00:13:04Is
00:13:06I'm sorry for your loss my loss
00:13:11Shouldn't it be our loss?
00:13:15So, where is everyone I thought this was a wood cutting camp
00:13:19Where all the workers must be in town for the weekend. We arrived just yesterday and the place was empty
00:13:25Something's wrong here
00:13:27I can feel it in my bones. It's nice to know that you can feel something
00:13:34So is that what this reunion of yours was all about yeah, you waited 18 years to tell me I was a bad father
00:13:42Guess what little girl?
00:13:44I already knew that
00:13:46I just did what was best for both of us. That's all
00:13:49You think divorcing my mother was best for all of us but not having me around was
00:13:55And not having me in your life was
00:13:58Yeah, you may not realize it but uh, it was a blessing in disguise baby, believe me
00:14:03so
00:14:05Heard your mama remarried
00:14:08Isaac wiseman eight years ago when I was 10. Isaac wiseman. Hmm
00:14:15Was she happy
00:14:18Very
00:14:20Well good for charlotte, yeah, she deserved to marry someone who could make her happy
00:14:26I sure as hell couldn't anymore
00:14:29I think she missed her boys though
00:14:32Well, we had an agreement young lady when we divorced I gave her the land
00:14:37I gave her the girls. I took the boys
00:14:40It was a good deal for everybody involved
00:14:42I'm, I apologize to you anyone else for that
00:14:46All right. All right
00:14:48Why don't we all go inside and have ourselves a drink?
00:14:50I'm sure everyone's a little weary from their travels. We all got a week to get better acquainted
00:14:55And pa don't forget
00:14:57Elizabeth and joseph just got hitched
00:14:59This is a celebration, right
00:15:09It's a pleasure to finally meet you, mr. Stillwell
00:15:12Please just give us some time
00:15:14Liz has been looking forward to this day for quite a while now, especially after charlotte passed away
00:15:20Really thinks she wants to get to know you sir. She's lost half her family this past year
00:15:27I knew this was a mistake
00:15:29I
00:15:31Not to mean any disrespect, but I sincerely hope you're wrong, sir
00:15:37I better go make sure she gets settled in
00:15:42I can't stay here
00:15:46Come on paul
00:15:47I mean, he's right
00:15:48We knew this would be a bit awkward
00:15:50I'm, not talking about your sister. I meant your brother
00:15:53I've got to find him frank. You're you're really worried about him
00:15:58Yeah
00:15:59He could take care of himself
00:16:01Get my horse. I'm riding in tucson. I can make it. It's over 70 miles away. It's all right
00:16:07Well, you're not going alone. We can't both go not right after sister's arrived
00:16:12Yeah, I agree i'll ride into him soon that should take
00:16:16What two three hours?
00:16:18Then I'll hop on the railroad to tucson. It shouldn't take more than two days
00:16:23Paul, are you?
00:16:24Are you leaving because you're really concerned about frank?
00:16:28Or is it just you don't want to deal with this reunion you want a straight answer? Yeah
00:16:33both
00:16:34Run away ain't gonna solve nothing. How old are you now, son?
00:16:3823
00:16:40Talk to me again about this in 15 years. I ain't
00:16:45Plan on shooting someone I never plan on it. What do I tell elizabeth about your sudden departure tell her the truth
00:16:52What's that?
00:16:55Make it up
00:17:12Elizabeth
00:17:15Liz
00:17:21Elizabeth liz
00:17:24Elizabeth
00:17:28Liz
00:17:32Are you all right?
00:17:34Yeah, i'm fine
00:17:37He's the one who's not all right, what'd you expect?
00:17:41I don't know hug maybe
00:17:44Any kind of emotional response at all would have been us
00:17:47You really wanted a hug from a man. You've never met until today. He's my father joe. No. No, he's not
00:17:53He's just a man who impregnated your mother. He doesn't know you at all. No, I know
00:17:58I was kind of hoping I could change that in five minutes
00:18:01No, of course not, but he didn't even try
00:18:04You put him on the spot. The man's almost 60 years old
00:18:08He's not just gonna open up to you suddenly and you guys gonna have this bond together
00:18:13No, I know
00:18:17Maybe this whole meeting was a mistake
00:18:19I
00:18:21I'm sorry. Is that funny? No, it it's just that's exactly what he said after you went inside
00:18:30So what this is like a
00:18:32Like father like daughter kind of thing. No
00:18:35Just seems you guys are both pretty stubborn
00:18:38When you set your mind on something, there's no stopping you. He seems to be the same way
00:18:44And you think that's a good thing or a bad thing
00:18:47It's the reason why I married you
00:18:53Well, what are some of the other reasons
00:18:55Well, let's see
00:18:57Your endless search for compliments for one
00:19:00That's adorable. Shut up make me
00:19:14What is it
00:19:17Did you shoot him? No, he came stumbling out them trees and collapsed at our feet we didn't touch him
00:19:29Do you think he's dead? No, looks like he's been shot though
00:19:39He looks like an Indian
00:19:42I think he's a half-breed
00:19:44Is he alone?
00:19:47Who's out there
00:19:49Is anyone there?
00:19:53Iris father
00:19:58He left what do you mean he left
00:20:01I think it's best we go inside may not be safe out here. I agree. Well, what about him?
00:20:06We can't just leave him. Yes, we can he's hurt joe. He's not our problem lids. He's somebody's problem
00:20:13That wound on looks self-inflicted well, we have to bring him inside he could bleed to death
00:20:18Elizabeth is right. If we leave him out here, he could die
00:20:25Come on
00:20:28Now I must reiterate indian charlie was only a suspect in the morgan hurt murder
00:20:34When pete spence was freed I had to free everyone else as well
00:20:37I cannot keep a man in jail no matter what color or creed if I don't have the evidence to hold him. So
00:20:44The fate of indian charlie and all those around him is not and I repeat not my responsibility
00:20:53This is a bad idea
00:20:57And letting a man die is your version of a good idea
00:21:00That man doesn't get a wound like this unless he's done something
00:21:03Something I don't think any of us want to be involved in he may work here
00:21:07Frank told us that pete spence employs many half breeds up here doing what?
00:21:11Cutting wood, of course. That's what this place is wood cutting camp. What are you doing?
00:21:18I'm trying to bandage the wound so he doesn't bleed to death
00:21:21What do you mean my father left?
00:21:25He's riding a tombstone why
00:21:28To locate frank bring him back here
00:21:3110 minutes after meeting me and he's already gone. I should have known he's coming back with frank
00:21:37That's what you wanted. Isn't it real family reunion? I don't know real family might have been better
00:21:43Start our own family list. You don't need them. This don't concern you joe. This is about blood
00:21:51Oh god
00:22:01What's that about
00:22:04Joe doesn't like the sight of blood it uh makes him unwell
00:22:12You married a real winner there
00:22:15No
00:22:16You don't get to do that
00:22:18You can't come in here and judge me in my life decisions. You weren't around to earn that privilege
00:22:23You know, I didn't choose nothing when ma and paul separated. I was four years old at the time
00:22:27All I remember was a lot of yelling and a lot of crying that may be millard
00:22:32But i've seen you what two
00:22:35Maybe three times in my entire life. Well, that's two or three times more than frank and paul
00:22:40At least I made an effort barely
00:22:45You know, it works both ways liz
00:22:50Mom wouldn't allow it
00:22:51And now that i've met my father, I completely understand why I can't say that. You don't even know the man. He's not the other one
00:22:58Who do you think he is anyway
00:23:02I don't know, but your husband may be right. I don't know if we can trust him
00:23:11I checked all the windows see anything. No, I think he came alone
00:23:17Yeah, but where from
00:23:28You
00:23:38When a case is dismissed I never look back I do not regret my decisions
00:23:43I'm an honest judge. I have never taken a bribe or been swayed by public opinion though again
00:23:49Others may disagree people must live with my decision and one should never take the law into their own hands when that happens
00:23:55Only chaos and regret follow
00:24:14Pardon me
00:24:18I'm looking for someone a lot of someone's in this town. Well timer well
00:24:23He's my son
00:24:26Ever have a man they call frank stillwell
00:24:31Everyone's heard of frank stillwell, especially today. He's in the papers. That's a fact
00:24:40I don't read too good
00:24:42You know what his men are now? I don't know about frank
00:24:45But I got wind that pete spence turned himself into marshall bayhens jay house this morning
00:24:50Well, why would he do that if
00:24:52If he'd been free to the charges, why do you think for protection?
00:24:56The irps ain't gonna be none so happy when they hear about the results of the trial
00:25:00And that is they heard about already. Yeah, they probably have
00:25:04So, you know where the irps are now
00:25:08Word is
00:25:10They're putting their brother's body morgan on a train and sending it to their family homestead in colton
00:25:15They all might be in tucson by now
00:25:18All right, when's the next train in tucson
00:25:25I think it's safe to be out here
00:25:31I think I can take care of myself
00:25:34Where's elizabeth?
00:25:35She's inside making lunch
00:25:38She good cook
00:25:40She's good enough for me
00:25:43What about uh
00:25:46What about uh, oh he's still out
00:25:51What if he don't wake up
00:25:53Well, I suppose we'll have to bury him
00:25:56You know, maybe your father had the right idea maybe we should all go back into town
00:26:01It's a long walk
00:26:03About 15 miles or so
00:26:05Your stagecoach doesn't get here for another two days. Father took the only horse. You don't have a horse
00:26:11No
00:26:13Horse tripped on the way down here broke his leg. So
00:26:16I put him down and we might have to do the same thing with that ending inside
00:26:21You got a problem with redskins joe
00:26:23I think it's more like they got a problem with us. Why would you say that? Well, we took their land, didn't we?
00:26:28I didn't take nothing. I work for everything I got
00:26:32What do you do?
00:26:33well
00:26:35In oregon, there's really only one thing to do
00:26:37And that's raise cattle
00:26:39I move cattle day in and day out
00:26:42What about you?
00:26:44Well, I plan on having a big family with liz
00:26:48Think about moving to oklahoma getting some land build a house become a farmer like my dad
00:26:55Sounds lovely, but what about you?
00:26:58You got a girl children
00:27:00Nope, no children got a lot of girls though
00:27:04So you're not planning on settling down anytime soon
00:27:07The stillwells ain't very good at sitting still you haven't figured that out by now
00:27:12Sort of ironic, isn't it? I mean because your last name's still well
00:27:18I'd say
00:27:20Three brothers
00:27:21All of them still single that sure says something
00:27:25I see dad has been quite the role model for you
00:27:28How you doing sis on this glorious day?
00:27:33Lunch is almost ready. Well, thank you kindly
00:27:36So look
00:27:37I've decided
00:27:39That there will be no more arguing
00:27:41From this point on we're going to pretend to be a happy family
00:27:45Really?
00:27:47That's what you two have been up here discussing
00:27:49We were just getting better acquainted
00:27:53Don't you mean pretending to get better acquainted
00:27:59So you check on our sleeping guest
00:28:02Yeah about 10 minutes ago no change
00:28:06Well, we were just discussing
00:28:08If you don't wake up anytime soon, you can go ahead and cook them for dinner
00:28:12I hear they taste like buffalo. That is not funny joseph
00:28:17Yeah that joke
00:28:18This is bad taste
00:28:21Get it bad taste
00:28:27Drop guns drop the knife
00:28:30You hurt my wife and I'll kill you. I'll kill you
00:28:33Why are you doing this we helped you I helped I helped bandage this wound you took away my guns
00:28:38I took your guns me not her. Why?
00:28:42Because we don't even know who you are and you were afraid you're gonna do something like this
00:28:46Who are you?
00:28:48Why are you here? We're here to meet up with frank stillwell. You've come to kill frank. Of course not
00:28:52He's i'm his sister now. I'm his brother miller stillwell
00:28:55Stillwell
00:29:01Don't shoot
00:29:03I'm, sorry
00:29:04I make mistake
00:29:05There's a whole lot of mistakes going around here. Who are you florentino cruz?
00:29:10But everybody calls me indian charlie. Why are you here? I I work for pete
00:29:16pete spence pete and I good friends of
00:29:19frank
00:29:21How'd you get that wound on your leg?
00:29:25I
00:29:29Think he can tell us over lunch
00:29:34Come on
00:29:44It's good man, thank you. So charlie, where are you coming from?
00:29:50I'm from tombstone. What business do you have up there? I was hired to do a job. What kind of job?
00:29:58Frank never talked about his family
00:30:01Like father like son
00:30:04We kind of went our separate ways over the years. Yeah, our parents divorced in 1863
00:30:09Frank know you're coming up to see him
00:30:12We've been in contact through letters. Shouldn't we be asking him the questions?
00:30:17Joe's right. It's your turn charlie
00:30:19Who shot you?
00:30:22Not sure
00:30:24But I I think it was an herb
00:30:26Maybe Wyatt Earp. Why would Wyatt Earp be shooting at you?
00:30:29Because I friends with your brother and I work for pete spence. What does Wyatt Earp have against our brother?
00:30:35That is long story. Well, we have a lot of time
00:30:41Earps have been after frank and pete since last year were they involved in that shooting at the ok corral? No
00:30:47But they are friends with the mclowry's who were there
00:30:51Since when is being friends with someone a crime the earps have had trouble with frank and pete before
00:30:56last september
00:30:58Virgil and Wyatt Earp arrested frank and pete for a stagecoach robbery frank robbed a stagecoach. No, he did
00:31:04The charges were dropped and frank was found not guilty
00:31:08due to several witnesses who support
00:31:10frank stilwell and pete spence's alibi
00:31:14and insufficient evidence
00:31:17The boot print and the word sugar are not enough for a conviction
00:31:21I hereby do declare frank stilwell and pete spence not guilty of the stagecoach robbery case dismissed
00:31:29But two weeks later the earps filed federal charges against frank and pete
00:31:33Had to do with messing around with a mail carrier, but I thought you said that frank wasn't involved in that he was not
00:31:39But the earps killed a lot of people
00:31:42Made a lot of enemies. It wasn't their trial
00:31:45The earps were not found guilty after considering all the evidence and statements the court finds
00:31:51Wyatt Earp and john doc holliday
00:31:54innocent of all counts of murder
00:31:58The judge was wrong and everybody knows it
00:32:02The earps and their friends are murderers and must pay for their actions
00:32:06U.s. Marshal Virgil Earp has stated for the record that both Wyatt and doc holliday were deputized on october 26th
00:32:13Therefore these men were acting within the letter of the law and hereby are free of all charges case dismissed
00:32:20What did you do charlie I did nothing I escaped escaped from what
00:32:27Two nights ago Wyatt Earp's brother was killed in tombstone. They're looking for someone to blame
00:32:38Did you do it charlie
00:32:41No, indy and charlie did not shoot anyone was frank involved
00:32:49I uh
00:32:51I'm tired. I need rest
00:32:54Is frank involved in the killing yes or no?
00:32:57I see nothing. It was dark and
00:33:00Can I please go inside?
00:33:05Yeah, no, yeah, of course
00:33:07Yeah, you need to rest for recovery. Thank you, ma'am
00:33:11You're a very kind person
00:33:22You believe the story
00:33:24Which part any of it?
00:33:26All I know is I have to get the tombstone and find frank and paul before the earps do
00:33:30You're gonna leave us alone here with him
00:33:32Because if I was a betting man, I'd say he's the one who murdered earp brother. No, we need to stay together
00:33:38Now the note said that frank is in tucson and that's what like
00:33:4270 miles from tombstone
00:33:45If frank's really in tucson, he couldn't have had anything to do with these killings
00:33:48That's if he is in tucson and he stayed in tucson
00:33:51Are you saying my brother's a killer?
00:33:54I think any man who's been arrested numerous times isn't completely innocent the earps too were arrested for murder
00:34:01They're us marshals they got the law on their side
00:34:04Do you know how many men have hidden behind the law to commit horrible crimes and then get away with it? No, he's right
00:34:10Sometimes things aren't as black and white as they seem as told to you by a redneck who held a knife to your throat
00:34:16If you haven't already forgotten, he's obviously dangerous. He was just scared and confused. So am I
00:34:23So, what do you propose we get rid of him
00:34:26If he's wanted by the law, we shouldn't be helping him hide out. And what if he's innocent?
00:34:30That's for the judge to decide not us
00:34:32Judges don't always make the right decision. You heard his story
00:34:36Are you referring to the release of the earth's brothers or your brother? You're looking to pick a fight. I'd be happy to oblige
00:34:42Now we cannot jump to conclusions based on one story that may or may not be true
00:34:47All we know is that the man was shot and he thinks it was wired or who pulled the trigger
00:34:52Yeah, that's true
00:34:54And why would he lie to us?
00:34:56He trusts us because our relationship to frank don't have a relationship to frank and neither do I he's your brother elizabeth
00:35:02Like it or not. You're family
00:35:04Sam goes for paul fine
00:35:06If that indian in there is anything like frank could your father be another story, but he has no relation to any of us
00:35:11He's a total stranger and we don't have the right to be protecting him
00:35:14It's called being a good samaritan. Not if it puts all of us in danger. No, we're not in any danger
00:35:19There's no one else here
00:35:22I still say that we should sit tight and wait for frank to return
00:35:28We have no horses
00:35:30No other means of transportation
00:35:34There's really nothing else that we can do am I right
00:35:41Yeah
00:35:43So
00:35:55As I have said taking the law into your own hands has never been and will never be condoned by the legal system
00:36:02Revenge is frowned down upon
00:36:05however
00:36:06If you find that you or your loved ones are in immediate danger, then sometimes self-defense
00:36:12Is the only way to go
00:36:14Now, I don't rightly know what exactly happened on the evening of march 21st at the tucson railroad except a man was killed
00:36:22That's fact
00:36:24however
00:36:25The motivation that led to that event is in question
00:36:41So
00:36:58I can tell you this
00:37:00When a lawman hides behind the law and commits a questionable act
00:37:04It opens up a whole can of worms and makes my job that much harder
00:37:07What wyatt erp and doc holliday did that night might be justified in their minds, but it cannot be overlooked by the law
00:37:14A trial should have occurred. It did not
00:37:37So
00:37:40Charlie
00:37:44Indy and charlie, are you up?
00:37:49You see anyone coming
00:37:52Nope paul rode away three days ago
00:37:56Something's happened
00:37:58How do you know?
00:38:01I don't know that's the problem
00:38:03I ain't gonna find anything out by staying here
00:38:06No sign of frank no sign of paul
00:38:11I don't like it
00:38:13You walking to tombstone?
00:38:15I mean, what choice do I have at this point?
00:38:17Well, i'm coming with you. I'm gonna leave elizabeth behind without indian
00:38:21No, of course not. She's gonna come with on a 15 mile walk through the desert
00:38:25I'll carry her if I have to ain't a family reunion without family around now, is it?
00:38:29Is it
00:38:31Indy and charlie's gone gone where I don't know. He didn't leave a note
00:38:35He must have left early this morning or late last night good. Yeah, that's the right idea
00:38:40We're going to the tombstone. It's the closest town. You really think it's safe down there. You think it's safe up here?
00:38:46Safer than a town full of gunslingers looking for revenge on the last name stillwell. Yes
00:38:51Then you should be happy you married me and change your last name to cooley
00:38:55But if what indian charlie told us is true then frank and paul might be in some serious trouble or even worse by now
00:39:03Someone is coming
00:39:06Who is it he's right someone is coming is it frank
00:39:12Is it your father
00:39:14I
00:39:21Know I don't think so. It's too far away
00:39:26I can't make out his face
00:39:28Well, maybe it's pete spence. No, but he told us pete spence was in jail. Well, he could have gotten out by now
00:39:35You better come back inside
00:39:37Very dangerous man coming better shooter than all of us. Did you put that axe down charlie?
00:39:43I'm gonna warn you again
00:39:46Axe won't help anyway guns won't help if he starts firing. We are all dead
00:39:52Who is this man? His name is doc
00:39:55Holiday, so he's a doctor. He's a killer
00:39:58Well, why is he coming here? Why do you think?
00:40:02Doc holiday is best friends with wyatt erp
00:40:04If you mess with one of the erp brothers, you're gonna have to deal with him
00:40:07You can't just come in here and start shooting at people virgil erp made wyatt erp a deputy us marshal a few months ago
00:40:14Wyatt erp could have deputized doc holiday, too
00:40:17So this holiday
00:40:18He's a lawman or a criminal depends on the day
00:40:22What are we gonna do?
00:40:26I guess we won't see what he wants
00:40:35He's heading this way
00:40:37He knows I am here
00:40:40He will kill me get back in the house charlie everybody get back to the house
00:40:52Now just to set the record straight
00:40:56John henry holiday alias doc holiday
00:40:59Had indeed been deputized by wyatt erp. So in that regard he was on the side of the law
00:41:05However, and this is important
00:41:07These revenge killings were never sanctioned or approved by the legal system. So we are about to enter a very
00:41:15Shall we say gray area when it comes to hunting down known criminals without proper legal representation?
00:41:21now
00:41:23I'm, not saying doc. Holiday is in the wrong
00:41:26Nor am I saying I approve of his actions. Unfortunately in this particular situation you must uh
00:41:32judge for yourself
00:41:34Pete spence
00:41:37Pete
00:41:40He's looking for pete I thought you said he was in jail that is what I heard
00:41:44I've been hearing a lot of things. I'm gonna go see what's true
00:41:48Liz, what are you doing?
00:41:52Pete
00:41:54You here
00:42:05Can I help you mister
00:42:08I'm sorry to rip your day ma'am. I was warning me tomorrow. I might find pete spence. I believe this is his property
00:42:14I believe you're correct
00:42:16Unfortunately, pete's not here today
00:42:19Huh?
00:42:20Well, where might he be? Well, he may be in jail. At least that's what i've heard
00:42:24I see
00:42:27Heard by whom and who might you be mister? Well, my name is doc holiday and i'm here on official business ma'am
00:42:33Oh, I see you're the law of this land I worked for the law on special occasion and this is just one of those occasions
00:42:40Indeed it is
00:42:42A man was murdered in tombstone a few nights ago and i'm part of the posse to track those down responsible
00:42:47And bring them to justice justice will be served. I can assure you
00:42:54Ma'am you're not here all alone. Are you my brother and my husband are inside and who might they be?
00:43:00Is there a problem honey, who are you speaking to? He says his name is doc holiday
00:43:07Oh
00:43:08What kind of doctor are you sir?
00:43:10I was a dentist in another lifetime
00:43:14Oh, what brings you up here? Somebody got a toothache?
00:43:19That's a good one, sir, i've never heard that one before
00:43:22I don't believe you that's because i'm lying. I have heard it
00:43:25I've never heard that one before
00:43:27I don't believe you that's because i'm lying. I have heard it before so many times
00:43:31In fact, that's why I decided to quit being a dentist that and the money's terrible
00:43:36Gambling is a much more profitable profession. I thought you said you were a lawman on special occasion as I stated
00:43:43I
00:43:52Are you okay that doesn't sound very good
00:43:54Doc, I think you need to see a doc. I have
00:43:58And it's none of your concern. I have a slight bit of consumption. I believe they call it tuberculosis nowadays
00:44:05Well, that could be really serious. It is I could die at any moment
00:44:10But that's none of your concern
00:44:12Mr. And mrs. Cooley joseph and elizabeth cooley from indiana
00:44:18indiana
00:44:20Well, you're a long way from home
00:44:22What brings you out to these parts? What are they saying? I don't know
00:44:26Shoot him if you have a shot shoot him. Nobody's shooting anybody
00:44:30If you do not we are all dead. I'll shoot you if you don't send her down
00:44:36Family reunion, huh?
00:44:39Well, then how do y'all know pete's pence you don't actually
00:44:44Is he aware you're uh out here
00:44:47We don't rightly know
00:44:49We'd expect to meet him and some others when we arrive
00:44:52When was that?
00:44:54About four days ago, but I don't see how any of this is any of your business deputy. Oh, call me doc holiday
00:45:01Well seeing that pete's pence is not around I won't keep you any longer
00:45:05Oh, well nice to make your acquaintance and uh, have a good day
00:45:11You have a good day too doc. He's leaving
00:45:15I guess he wasn't here for you after all
00:45:19Oh
00:45:21Almost forgot
00:45:23have uh
00:45:24Either one of you seen or heard
00:45:26from a man
00:45:27He's an indian crossbreed
00:45:29Goes by the nickname indian charlie
00:45:32Why do you think we'd see him? Well, he works for pete's pence
00:45:35And uh, we were told we might be able to find him up here
00:45:40Who told you that a fellow by the name of frank stillwell frank?
00:45:44Did I hear you correctly
00:45:46You know frank stillwell I did
00:45:49Mr
00:45:50This is my brother millard. Oh
00:45:53Pleased to make your acquaintance
00:45:55How do you know frank? Mr. Holiday? I had a running with him in tucson a few days ago
00:46:00Told Wyatt Earp and myself
00:46:02About some of the others who participate with him in the killing of Wyatt's brother Morgan
00:46:07Are you saying that you've got frank in custody? I'm afraid not mrs. Cooley
00:46:12Frank stillwell is dead
00:46:14You killed my brother. I did not mr. Stillwell
00:46:18Not to say I wouldn't have done just that
00:46:20Except Wyatt Earp beat me to him. I did not know that frank had a sister
00:46:24Neither did he
00:46:26And now he never will
00:46:29I suggest you leave. Mr. Holiday
00:46:33Well, I still haven't received an answer to my inquiry what's that have any of you heard or seen from a man
00:46:39Goes by the name of florentino cruz or florentino saez
00:46:44Also, as I said his nickname indian charlie afraid we can't help you. Mr. Holiday
00:46:51Can not or will not mr. Stillwell
00:46:53Please remember this is official business of the law. It's the killing of my brother in the name of the law
00:46:59Indeed it was he fired first. It was self-defense
00:47:03Which is more than I can say for morgan earp
00:47:06Who was gunned down?
00:47:08Shot in the back while playing pool. How do you know that? Were you there? Did you see frank pull the trigger?
00:47:13I was not I was in my hotel, but there's plenty of witnesses including wyatt earp. He saw everything and you trust mr
00:47:21Earp
00:47:21with my life
00:47:24How does this
00:47:26Indian charlie fella fit in
00:47:28Well, that's why i'm here. That's what i'm trying to find out. Well, i'm afraid it's like my brother told you we can't help you
00:47:39Well, you won't mind if I uh
00:47:42Search around a little bit. This indian charlie is a dangerous man
00:47:47Wouldn't want to leave without knowing y'all are safe dragoon mountains are in cochise county
00:47:52Is that within your jurisdiction?
00:47:54It is today and I suppose we can't stop you. You could try
00:48:01Millard I need your help with something right now. All right
00:48:08I'm coming
00:48:11Come here
00:48:14I
00:48:18Wish you didn't do that les
00:48:20He looks pretty sick. I could have taken him. Do you know what happened to the last man who thought that what?
00:48:25He never thought anything ever again
00:48:27No, what are you two doing? You just lied to the law
00:48:31That's a criminal act you just want to go to jail for what protecting the murderer. I did not murder anyone
00:48:37That man out there aided in the killing of our brother joe frank
00:48:42Frank is dead. Yeah, brother. She's not even met probably deserve what he got
00:48:47Stop it
00:48:48You have no right to say that about frank and i'm getting fed up with you judging a man
00:48:51You never even met fighting amongst ourselves is not getting us anywhere
00:48:56We have to remember who's out there
00:49:02And he's not leaving
00:49:05So
00:49:09This is why I said we should just turn this man over to him let the legal system handle it
00:49:14Doc holliday did not come here to take me to jail
00:49:17You send me out there. He will kill me just like the 30 men before me if it's in the name of the law. It was not
00:49:24Doc is not a lawman
00:49:26He may have a badge, but he does not follow it. Do you do any of you know this man's history?
00:49:31He is a cold-blooded killer
00:49:33I've heard the stories
00:49:35He killed a man over a game of cards gutted him with a knife right at the table just for looking at cards
00:49:41Shot another us army scout on the street for being drunk and interrupting his game
00:49:46And in 1880 when he first came to tombstone, he shot milk the saloon owner in the hand and the bartender in the foot
00:49:54He was drunk
00:49:56But if that's true, then why wasn't he arrested?
00:49:59He was
00:50:0117 times before the ok corral killings
00:50:04But why didn't he go to jail? He escaped?
00:50:07I was released for lack of evidence. Just like frank pete and I were
00:50:10But you say that you're innocent and that he's guilty
00:50:15Yeah, why should believe that and why believe him? He's the one that killed your wife's brother
00:50:21I was frank's friend. So you say you send me out there now and you might as well shoot me yourselves
00:50:27So
00:50:29What's our alternative
00:50:32We kill doc holliday
00:50:34Well, i'm definitely considering
00:50:35It's four against one. We have the advantage here and he's right out there in the open
00:50:39It's an easy shot. Yeah, except for one thing. What's that? We're not killers
00:50:44That's true for most of us
00:50:49That's it i'm getting to the bottom of this where are you going i'm going to talk to the man alone
00:50:56Now you two stay here and keep an eye on charlie when I get back i'm gonna know better what to do wait
00:51:03Think about this
00:51:04If he's on a vendetta, then none of us are safe
00:51:07He may be planning on killing the entire stillwell family. Then I guess it's a good thing. I'm no longer a stillwell
00:51:13Your father saw to that the day he divorced my mother. That's how you feel about it
00:51:16Then what the hell was this reunion all about to fix something that was broken 18 years ago
00:51:20But I see that's impossible now people don't change
00:51:23They just get worse with age, what are you hoping to accomplish by talking to him?
00:51:29Well, we've all been sitting back listening to the legend it's about time someone met him
00:51:40Did you make her this way
00:51:42Oh, no
00:51:43as far as I can tell
00:51:45She was born like that
00:51:47You think I wanted to come on this trip?
00:51:50It was all her idea
00:51:52I
00:51:56Now while this was going on I want you to know that I was not just sitting back and letting the erps and doc holliday
00:52:02Run buckshot over the entire justice system
00:52:06I issued a warrant for the murder at tucson railroad
00:52:09Charges were filed a posse was sent out to bring in wyatt and doc holliday
00:52:14They were wanted for questioning. I did my job, but they did not listen
00:52:19And when a us marshal does not obey the letter of the law there is a serious problem
00:52:25They knew it. I knew it, but it didn't matter to the erps
00:52:28Revenge is a luxury a judge cannot afford
00:52:32And they did not see it that way
00:52:49You know, you're probably wasting your time out here, mr. Holiday i'm well aware that's a good possibility mrs. Stillwell cooley
00:52:56I'm, elizabeth cooley. No, that's right. You're married. I'm, sorry
00:53:00However, i've learned that just by changing one's name doesn't necessarily change their disposition or their nature
00:53:06Are you trying to imply that i'm somehow like my dead brother frank? Oh, no, not at all. I see
00:53:11plenty of differences such as
00:53:13Such as he's dead. You're alive
00:53:16male female
00:53:18He's ugly. You're pretty
00:53:20I mean the list goes on and on and what would you say would be the differences between?
00:53:25frank and
00:53:27Someone like yourself, mr. Holiday, what were the differences I think is what you meant. Yes
00:53:35What were the differences
00:53:38Well, let me see if I can get my history correct
00:53:42frank moved to prescott, arizona to work at the miller ranch in
00:53:471877 in october of that year a newly hired cook a man by the name of jesus bega
00:53:52Brought frank a cup of tea instead of coffee
00:53:55An argument followed which resulted in frank shooting bega through the chest and killing him
00:54:01Frank was acquitted
00:54:03on grounds of self-defense
00:54:05Then two years later frank was working in a mine in mojave county
00:54:09And he had some sort of argument over claim jumping with a colonel john van houten
00:54:14And frank resolved that argument by taking a rock and bashing that man's head in until he was dead
00:54:20Frank was charged with murder
00:54:22But he escaped a grand jury indictment
00:54:25on the grounds of lack of evidence
00:54:27now in april
00:54:28Frank was hired as an assistant deputy by sheriff bein
00:54:32Four months later. He was fired
00:54:35And let me see if I can remember the term that they used I believe it was uh
00:54:39accounting irregularities
00:54:42Now soon after that a stagecoach was robbed by two masked men
00:54:48They took all the passengers valuables and a strong box with over 2400 in it
00:54:54But if you say they were wearing masks
00:54:56Then how do you know that frank had anything to do with those robberies?
00:54:59Wyatt and virgil
00:55:01Tracked the bandits from the scene of the holdup and they discovered a
00:55:06custom boot print
00:55:08And they went to a shoe repair shop that's known for providing extra wide heels and they linked that print to good old frank stillwell
00:55:16Let's not forget three nights ago
00:55:18When he was involved in the shooting morgan erp in the back
00:55:22While he was playing pool. What about you? Mr. Holiday?
00:55:27I wasn't there
00:55:28well, that may be true, but
00:55:30What about the man that you knifed down at the poker table?
00:55:33or the u.s army scout that you gunned down in the middle of the street and what about the saloon owner and his bartender that
00:55:38You shot while you were drunk?
00:55:46Oh
00:55:49Well, miss cooley I am surprised that those stories reached all the way out to indiana
00:55:56Unless of course you've been
00:55:58Talking to somebody from around these parts. Can you really tell me those are all just stories? There's no truth to them
00:56:04There's truth in everything
00:56:06Just like there's multiple sides to every story
00:56:09the problem is
00:56:10The facts get blurred in the telling and by the teller himself exactly
00:56:16So tell me your side
00:56:18Let me judge for myself
00:56:20Yes
00:56:22Yes, what
00:56:24Yes, I killed a man miss cooley
00:56:25In fact, i've killed many men for many reasons all were valid from your point of view
00:56:30We can only live our lives through our own eyes. We have to judge each situation as it comes and we hope
00:56:35That we make the right decision
00:56:37You think you've always made the right decision?
00:56:41Regrets are for those who have time to reflect miss cooley and i'm afraid i've never been that fortunate
00:56:46You tell me you don't think before you act i'm always thinking and always acting
00:56:51It is the life of a gunman a gambler and a lawman and which one of those men am I now addressing
00:56:57We are all one in the same
00:56:59Mrs. Cooley
00:57:02The hell does he think he's doing
00:57:04Is he flirting with my wife? I wouldn't put it past him. Neither would I
00:57:09If he keeps it up, i might have to kill myself not until elizabeth. Isn't it clear?
00:57:16But if you must know ken bailey the man I killed during the card game
00:57:20He wasn't following the rules. He kept looking at the cards in the discard pile
00:57:25Uh now miss cooley. I don't know how much you know about poker, but that's not allowed. I told him to stop
00:57:30But he just kept doing it
00:57:32So I took the next pot. He went for his gun. I went for my knife
00:57:36And he got the point. Are you kidding me over a game of cards? Mrs. Cooley. I do not cheat
00:57:42And I don't think it's fair that anyone cheats in my presence
00:57:45And the u.s army scout, what about him mike gordon was in a saloon in las vegas, new mexico playing a friendly game of cards
00:57:52When this young crazy man
00:57:54Uh tried to force a salon gal to leave with him
00:57:57And when she wouldn't go he went outside and started shooting up the place
00:58:01So I walked out there and very politely. I asked him to stop
00:58:04He shot at me
00:58:06So now what am I supposed to do?
00:58:09I fired back
00:58:11He died the next day
00:58:14He died the next day and I left town and mrs. Cooley that's a clear case of self-defense
00:58:21You see when you tell me your stories it sounds like you were on the right side of the law
00:58:27I was but when you tell me frank's stories
00:58:29It sounds like he was guilty even though he got off on the exact same self-defense and lack of evidence as you did
00:58:34Mrs. Cooley
00:58:36He was guilty
00:58:38So you're saying the legal system works for you, but it didn't work for my brother
00:58:42Look, I didn't come up here to talk about frank stillwell
00:58:44I came up here to find indian charlie
00:58:48He is a very dangerous man why because you say he is oh, no, don't take my word for it
00:58:57He's getting back on his horse is he leaving I hope so
00:59:12So
00:59:17Indian charlie cruz or siez
00:59:21Is a wanted man and not just for the murder of morgan earp
00:59:25according to the arizona weekly star
00:59:28He's also been identified as the 1878 murder of two us marshals. He's also a known cattle rustler and stage robber
00:59:37He also works for pete spence whose own wife testified that she saw and heard her husband frank stillwell
00:59:43Jeffrey bode and two indians identified as hank swilling and florentino indian charlie cruz
00:59:50planned the murder of morgan earp
00:59:52now
00:59:53four days before the shooting
00:59:55She and her mother were sitting out in front of pete spence's house in tombstone
00:59:59And they saw morgan earp walk by
01:00:02And then they saw indian charlie run after him to get a good look at him
01:00:05Now in the night of the murder, they heard the gunshots and just a few minutes later
01:00:10Frank and indian charlie came into her home
01:00:12Now the next morning pete spence threatened her with violence if she told what she knew now, mrs
01:00:17Cooley, why would his own wife make up a lie like that?
01:00:21Well, if he already had a history of physical abuse against her, maybe she's already looking for a way out
01:00:26Maybe she wanted a divorce
01:00:29Sometimes a woman just marries the wrong man. Mr
01:00:31Holiday if you look hard and long enough, you can always justify someone's actions
01:00:36But for me the facts speak for themselves. They would not accept the wife's testimony based on a technicality
01:00:41So now when the legal system fails you time and time again
01:00:45Sometimes you got to take the law in your own hands
01:00:47You're saying you plan on killing all the men that the wife mentioned what i'm saying is sometimes
01:00:52The only way to stop a bad man with the gun
01:00:55Is a good man with a gun and who's to say who's a good man and who's a bad man today?
01:00:59That'll be me. And what if you're wrong?
01:01:03I'll let history decide well that might work for you, but an innocent man could still die
01:01:08Well a dead man around these parts is a common occurrence
01:01:11Haven't you been looking at the local papers? And what if it's you?
01:01:14Pardon?
01:01:15What if it's you who gets gunned down this time? So be it
01:01:19I've been dying since the first day I was born
01:01:21Death does not scare me mrs. Cooley. In fact, I welcome it
01:01:26Fear is for a healthy man who has something to live for
01:01:29I've never been that fortunate. However
01:01:32You and your husband and brother still can make something of your lives
01:01:35I'd hate to see you ruin it by making a bad decision. You don't mind me asking. What are you doing here all of you?
01:01:42It's supposed to be a reunion
01:01:44My mom and my sister just died
01:01:46So I was hoping I could get to know my father and my brother who I never met
01:01:50Again, then I apologize for interrupting your family gathering at this ugly and sordid affair
01:01:56Well, thank you
01:01:59I better be getting inside. I'm sure my husband's been waiting for me
01:02:03I understand
01:02:05Oh, uh, mrs. Cooley, uh, the rest of the posse should be here anytime now
01:02:10the rest
01:02:11Wyatt warren
01:02:13McMaster's johnson fred dodge. Johnny green
01:02:16I rode on ahead while they took care of sheriff bean and deputy breckenridge. What do you mean took care of?
01:02:22Some people don't like a federal posse
01:02:25It's their problem not ours
01:02:28Well, mrs. Cooley
01:02:30I know indian charlie's in that cabin with your brother and your husband
01:02:34Now i'm going to give you five minutes to send him out
01:02:36Or i'm going to come in there and i'm going to get him now. I am a good shot
01:02:41But stray bullets do occur
01:02:43I just want you to keep that in mind
01:02:46I'd hate to see you make a bad decision here
01:02:49So
01:02:56Again to be clear
01:02:58None of these men were officially working with the government
01:03:02This was wyatt erb's own personal posse. There was a real posse after those men riding with her sheriff behind
01:03:09And deputy breckenridge were doing their legal job. They were working for the law
01:03:14Not the other way around wyatt and doc were on a vendetta of revenge for the death of wyatt's brother morgan
01:03:20Even if indian charlie frank steelwell and pete spence were responsible
01:03:24These men hunting and killing them were not on the right side of the law personal feelings be damned
01:03:30But that is how I see it. And like I said, I am the presiding judge in these matters
01:03:36So
01:03:43What'd he say
01:03:45He said that if we don't bring out charlie
01:03:48He's coming in here to get him. You told him I was here. He already knew. Okay
01:03:53Then we can take him out. We'll let the law handle it. Just like I said in the beginning the law's not handling anything
01:04:00holiday's gonna kill him
01:04:02I told you
01:04:04Not if he gives himself up if he surrenders a deputy marshal has to bring him in
01:04:09I kind of got the feeling this isn't a legitimate federal posse coming
01:04:13Wyatt erb his brothers the others they're here without the permission of the sheriff
01:04:19They want revenge and they're pretty certain that charlie had something to do with morgan erb's murder. I was not
01:04:25I swear well just denying it's not going to get you very far charlie
01:04:29You have an alibi any witnesses to your whereabouts at the time of the shooting?
01:04:33Hey doc holiday's not even a real law man
01:04:35I said we put that sick bastard out of his misery for helping kill frank
01:04:39Well, we can't do that. The rest of the posse's on their way. How many too many?
01:04:45Liz let me speak with you for a moment in private
01:04:49Watch charlie. We'll be right back. Don't take too long. We don't have much time
01:04:54So
01:05:01What what is it
01:05:02All right, I have an idea
01:05:04He's sending in charlie out to holiday when holiday shoots him. I'll shoot holiday. He'll be distracted so I can't miss
01:05:11But what happens when wyatt opened the rest of his posse show up?
01:05:15They're gonna see that you did that and kill everybody. No, I plant my gun in charlie's hand
01:05:20Look like they killed each other and that's what we'll tell them. What's the point of that?
01:05:23To avenge our brother's death liz. I can't let him get away with the cold blooded murder of frank
01:05:28There's got to be some sort of justice
01:05:31But doc holiday didn't kill him. It was wyatt erp
01:05:35He was involved and they're best friends
01:05:37He may not be able to kill wyatt
01:05:39But doc's death will hurt him badly
01:05:42And he deserves to suffer for what he's done
01:05:50So
01:05:55One minute mrs. Cooley
01:06:00That's it time to go step outside charlie
01:06:04Do not do this
01:06:05I am innocent
01:06:07You are killing an innocent man. I am saving my life and the life of my wife and her brother. That's what i'm doing
01:06:14Step outside charlie
01:06:19You
01:06:21Millard think about this for a second. How many men have you killed?
01:06:29None how many men have you even shot?
01:06:34I don't know. Yes you do
01:06:38None okay, I raise cattle. I usually don't tell shooting people exactly
01:06:45This is not us
01:06:46This is not our life millard if we start down this road like frank like poor charlie out there like doc holiday
01:06:53There's no turning back for us
01:06:55We have too much to lose
01:06:58starting with our souls
01:07:00Oh
01:07:04Joe
01:07:08Drop the gun you drop it. What happened? Did you get shot? No
01:07:13He jumped me by the door. I took my gun and went home and then he hit me with it
01:07:18I'm, not gonna warn you again. Drop your gun. We're on with her
01:07:26Get away from my wife
01:07:30Right
01:07:33Pick up the echo don't do it. Just don't hurt her
01:07:44Just trying to help you charlie
01:07:46your husband
01:07:48Had other plans. I told you he was dangerous. I just tried to get rid of him. Oh, i'll leave
01:07:54But i'm taking your wife
01:07:56with me
01:08:00So
01:08:12Holiday i'm coming out
01:08:15Shoot me now doc
01:08:17What's the matter holiday? I thought you came here to kill me. I never met a man so impatient to die
01:08:30Ugh
01:08:33Are you okay? Did he hurt you? No, i'm fine. How's your arm?
01:08:38Flesh wound all the way in and out. I don't think it hit bone
01:08:41I was just trying to keep you out of danger. I'm, so sorry you were up the whole time
01:08:45I should have listened to you. I'm gonna listen to you from now on
01:09:00So
01:09:30So
01:10:00So
01:10:30So
01:11:00So
01:11:30So
01:11:51Hi you charlie
01:11:55I guess math isn't your strong suit. I counted you're out of bullets
01:12:01So
01:12:04What are you doing you giving up that's not like you charlie I surrender
01:12:10I surrender
01:12:12Okay
01:12:14Well, why don't you tell me what happened that night in tombstone?
01:12:17I do not know
01:12:19I was not there. Well, charlie's just me and you you either tell the truth
01:12:24You die a liar, okay
01:12:27I was there
01:12:29But I did not shoot anyone
01:12:32I was only the lookout they paid me to be the lookout
01:12:36Who paid you?
01:12:39Pete spence was he there? Yes, and who else?
01:12:45Frederick bode hanks willing and
01:12:51And frank stillwell
01:12:56Who pulled the trigger who fired the fatal shot
01:12:59It was frank
01:13:01Frank stillwell
01:13:03Now you're not just saying it was frank because you know, he's already dead. It's the truth. I swear. It's the truth
01:13:08I was only lookout
01:13:10I'm afraid only it's not an excuse
01:13:12He's unarmed
01:13:14You can't just kill it on our man
01:13:26Go on pick it up. It's loaded
01:13:29Don't look at them. You look at me
01:13:33Come on charlie, here's your chance to kill the infamous doc holliday
01:13:38Gotta take a shot at that charlie
01:13:44Go on i'm giving you a shot right now take it go ahead boy
01:13:52Draw come on do it
01:13:57Oh
01:14:03This one's for morgan
01:14:10Make sure you tell everyone he was armed when I shot him still murder
01:14:18It's also justice
01:14:20When the stories came to my attention, it was hard to tell if indian charlie drew first or not
01:14:27Should he have been gunned down?
01:14:28Absolutely. Not. Yes. He was a wanted man, but not for the murder of morgan earp justice may have been done that day
01:14:34But I cannot say I was happy about it
01:14:48Father
01:14:52Hey miller, what the hell happened to you?
01:14:55I'll i'll be all right
01:14:59I just got back from tucson your brother frank
01:15:04He's dead
01:15:07Yeah, I know paul, you know
01:15:10What did you tell him that I did mr. Stillwell and who might you be?
01:15:16It's doc holiday father doc holiday
01:15:21I hear you had something to do with killing my boy
01:15:25That's true. Y'all saved our lives. Mr. Stillwell
01:15:31Well, I guess i'll be going now
01:15:33Good day, wait, wait, wait, you can't just ride out of here without an explanation
01:15:38Now, why did my son have to die?
01:15:40Because your son did some very bad things sir, and you haven't I have
01:15:45And I will be judged one day but not today and not by you, sir
01:15:50Why not by me
01:15:53Because I think your family wants you to stick around a little while longer family always comes first
01:15:58He's right father
01:16:00I would like to get to know you better
01:16:03That's why we all came here. Let's go inside paul. I got a lot of catching up to do
01:16:08You have a nice family. Mr. Stillwell
01:16:10Keep it that way
01:16:19Let's take care of that arm. Yeah
01:16:22So
01:16:32I believe our legal system can work and most of the time it does and in my heart I feel that
01:16:39More than 130 some odd years from now
01:16:42This kind of thing won't happen again. I believe we will have evolved by then
01:16:46I'm sure it will evolve to the point where the verdict of a trial will be upheld and respected
01:17:16So
01:17:46So
01:18:16So
01:18:46So
01:19:16So
01:19:46So
01:20:16So
01:20:46So
01:21:16So
01:21:46So
01:22:16So
01:22:46So
01:23:16So
01:23:46So
