00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:21Today is the feast of St. Joachim and Anne, the parents of our Blessed Virgin Mary.
00:27So a special day for grandparents today, because of course that makes them the grandparents
00:31of Jesus.
00:32We recall our own sins as we start the celebration, but we remember the love of God so often shown
00:40to us through grandparents, and the love of God which is bigger than any grandparent's
00:45love can ever be.
00:47Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.
00:53May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and
00:59life everlasting.
01:00O Lord, God of our fathers, who bestowed on St. Joachim and Anne this grace, that of them
01:08should be born the mother of your incarnate Son, grant through the prayers of both that
01:14we may attain the salvation you have promised to your people through our Lord Jesus Christ,
01:19your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever
01:25and ever.
01:26Amen.
01:27A reading from the book of Ecclesiasticus.
01:33Let us praise illustrious people, our ancestors in their successive generations.
01:42Here is a list of generous people whose good works have not been forgotten.
01:49In their descendants there remains a rich inheritance born of them.
01:55Their descendants stand by the covenants.
02:00And thanks to them, so do their children's children.
02:04Their offspring will last forever, their glory will not fade.
02:10Their bodies have been buried in peace, and their name lives on for all generations.
02:19The peoples will proclaim their wisdom, the assembly will celebrate their praises.
02:27The word of the Lord thanks be to God.
02:33God will give him the throne of David his father.
02:37God will give him the throne of David his father.
02:41The Lord swore an oath to David, he will not go back on his word, a son the fruit of your
02:48body will I set upon your throne.
02:52God will give him the throne of David his father.
02:55For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling.
03:02This is my resting place forever, here have I chosen to live.
03:09God will give him the throne of David his father.
03:13There David's stock will flower, I will prepare a land for my anointed.
03:19I will cover his enemies with shame, but on him my crown shall shine.
03:25God will give him the throne of David his father.
03:30Alleluia, Alleluia, they yearn for the comforting of Israel, and the Holy Spirit dwells in them.
03:37Alleluia.
03:42The Lord be with you.
03:44A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
03:47Glory to you O Lord.
03:50Jesus said to his disciples, happy are your eyes because they see, your ears because they
03:56hear.
03:57I tell you solemnly, many prophets and holy people long to see what you see and never
04:02saw it, to hear what you hear and never heard it.
04:08The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
04:11Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.
04:16As we celebrate the feast of St. Joachim and Ann, we remember the value of family life
04:23and how precious is the gift of passing on the faith to younger generations.
04:31What a sacred trust it is.
04:33We do it primarily by example but also by words, by word and action.
04:40Today we give thanks for these people who have given us the Blessed Virgin Mary by the
04:46way they raised her, and the grace of God of course.
04:50And we remember our call to be the people of hope, we don't always see the full results
04:56of our actions as probably they did it.
04:59But Jesus was the fruit also of their work.
05:12Blessed are you Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have this bread
05:16to offer which earth has given, human hands have made, it will become for us the bread
05:22of life.
05:24Blessed be God forever.
05:28By the mystery of this water and wine, may we come to share in the divinity of Christ
05:35who humbled himself to share in our humanity.
05:39Blessed are you Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have this wine
05:50to offer, fruit of divine work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink.
05:56Blessed be God forever.
06:00Let us pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God
06:10our Almighty Father.
06:13May the Lord accept this sacrifice at our hands for the praise and glory of God's name,
06:18for our good and the good of God's holy church.
06:21Receive, we pray, O Lord, these offerings of our homage and grant that we may merit
06:28a share in the same blessing which you promised to Abraham and his descendants, through Christ
06:34our Lord.
06:35Amen.
06:50The Lord be with you.
06:52Lift up your hearts.
06:55Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
06:58It is truly right and just, much more than a duty and good for our salvation, always
07:04and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, through
07:09Christ our Lord.
07:11For in the marvelous confession of your saints, you make your church fruitful with strength
07:16ever new, and offer us sure signs of your love, and that your saving mysteries may be
07:23fulfilled.
07:24The great example lends us courage.
07:28The fervent prayers sustain us in all we do.
07:32And so, Lord, with the angels and saints, we too give you thanks, as in exaltation we
07:37acclaim, Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna
07:47in the highest.
07:48Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
07:54You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
07:58Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like
08:03the dewfall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
08:09At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread.
08:16And giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of
08:21you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you.
08:33In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more giving thanks,
08:40he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this
08:48is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured
08:55out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
09:00Do this in memory of me.
09:08The mystery of faith.
09:10When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you
09:15come again.
09:16Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you,
09:22Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held
09:28us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
09:32Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into
09:38one by the Holy Spirit.
09:41Remember, Lord, your church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of
09:46charity, together with Francis our Pope, me, your unworthy servant, Eugene, our emeritus
09:53bishop, all the clergy who serve your people, and your entire family.
10:00Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
10:06and all who have died in your mercy.
10:09Welcome them into the light of your face.
10:12Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Blessed
10:17Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout
10:22the ages, we may, through your grace, merit to be coerced to eternal life, and may praise
10:29and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
10:36Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the
10:44Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, forever and ever.
10:50Amen.
10:51At the Savior's command, and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father who art
10:58in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in
11:04heaven.
11:06Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
11:12trespass against us.
11:14And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
11:19Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
11:21Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free
11:27from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our
11:33Savior, Jesus Christ.
11:35For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever.
11:41Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look
11:47not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and
11:52unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever.
11:57Amen.
11:58The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
12:02Let us offer each other a sign of peace.
12:04Peace be with you all.
12:07Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
12:13Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
12:18Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
12:31Amen.
12:42Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, happy are those who are
12:46called to the supper of the Lamb.
12:48Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and
12:53my soul shall be healed.
12:57My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
13:02I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
13:07Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
13:13I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you.
13:19Never permit me to be separated from you.
13:21Amen.
13:23Let us pray.
13:25O God, who willed that your only begotten Son should be born from among humanity, so
13:30that by a wonderful mystery humanity might be born again from you, we pray that in your
13:36kindness you may sanctify by the spirit of adoption those you have fed with the bread
13:43you give your children.
13:45Through Christ our Lord.
13:46Amen.
13:48The Lord be with you, and may the blessing of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
13:55Holy Spirit come upon you, and remain always with you.
14:00Let us go and live the gospel.
14:03Thanks be to God, and God bless your day.
