00:00This is still Kaugnay for Baguiong Karina. We got an update on the weather forecaster, Rhea Torres.
00:08Good evening, Binibining Torres. Ma'an Makapagal for PTV Ulatbayan.
00:13Good evening to you, Ms. Ma'an. Good evening to our listeners.
00:18Ma'am, many places in Metro Manila and Northern Luzon were flooded.
00:23Will it continue to rain like this for the next few days?
00:27How is Baguiong Karina and what other weather conditions will be affected?
00:32Yes, so let's start with the latest here in Baguiong Karina.
00:38Based on our latest Tropical Cyclone Bulletin, as of 5 p.m.,
00:42the location or center of Baguiong Karina, as of 4 p.m.,
00:46is located 325 kilometers east-northeast of Vasco Batanes.
00:51As of now, Baguiong Karina continues to move northward at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
01:12And due to the continuous effect of this storm,
01:15Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 has increased in Batanes,
01:19Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has increased in Cagayan, along with Babuyan Islands,
01:23and also in the eastern portion of Isabela, northern portion of Apayao,
01:27and northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
01:30Based on our rainfall outlook and latest weather advisory,
01:34we expect that until tomorrow, a large portion of Luzon will experience heavy rainfall,
01:40especially here in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan,
01:47Rizal, Cavite, and Batangas, as well as in Occidental Mindoro.
01:51That is why our countrymen are continuously preparing for possible floods or landslides due to widespread rainfall.
02:00Meanwhile, for the next few days until Friday,
02:03we expect that the first part of our country will continue to experience heavy rainfall.
02:08However, we expect that by Thursday, the rainfall will be eased,
02:12compared to the rainfall that will be experienced this Tuesday and Wednesday.
02:17When will this storm, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2, hit our Philippine area of responsibility?
02:24Based on our latest forecast track,
02:26we expect that it will land first in the northern portion of Taiwan,
02:32and it will be possible for it to come out of the Philippine area of responsibility Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
02:38In Metro Manila, the orange alert should be raised again.
02:44So, will we not reach the red alert in the next few days?
02:50For now, actually, the heaviest rainfall that we will experience is around this day.
02:57So, Tuesday is our expected peak effect of this storm.
03:01Although we expect that it will continue to rain until tomorrow,
03:05it will not reach heavy to intense rainfall,
03:10possibly heavy rains or moderate to heavy rains here in the Metro Manila area tomorrow.
03:15So, because our lands are a bit saturated,
03:18and if it does not continue to rain, it is still possible for floods to occur.
03:22That is why the rains will continue.
03:24Did our dams also receive additional water due to the rainfall?
03:30Yes, based on our latest dam update,
03:34we saw that the water levels increased in our dams.
03:42So, no matter what, there will be a contribution in the following days of rain,
03:47especially here in a large part of Luzon.
03:49Will the flooding in the ocean and the expansion of our fisheries be prohibited,
03:56especially in areas where the signal is high?
03:59Yes, especially in areas where the tropical cyclone wind signal is high,
04:03we can coordinate with our Coast Guard stations.
04:08But based on our latest gale warning,
04:11we expect that the seas here in the northern seaboard of northern Luzon,
04:17in Batanes, Cagayan and Baguyan Islands,
04:22those are the general peripheries where the strong effects of the tropical cyclone will be felt.
04:30As much as possible, even if there is no gale warning in that area,
04:34because we expect that the seas here in Luzon,
04:37which are in the moderate to rough,
04:39as much as possible, we will avoid flooding,
04:41especially in areas where there are small vessels.
04:44Alright, thank you very much for the time you gave us.
04:48And thank you also weather forecaster Reya Torres.
