00:00I've just got off the train from Lincoln to Nottingham, it's going to Leicester, but there's
00:11a Test match on in Nottingham now. The whole country should know about the Test match with
00:15the West Indies. Two coaches on there and we were jam-packed like sardines. I've just
00:20got off and more people are getting on. So it's not working at the moment, it can only
00:25get better surely.
00:27I'm all in favour of it. Trains should be a public service, particularly if we want
00:33to reduce our carbon emissions, get more people off the roads back into trains. The way the
00:37train service has been run down in many different areas has been appalling. It will take a lot
00:42of work. Nationalisation is not going to turn around overnight, but at least if there is
00:47one single centralised department focusing on improving rail transport, that should only
00:53be a good thing.
00:55I think it's a great idea to nationalise the trains. It's really confusing. I catch a train
01:00sometimes for work and there's just all different prices for where you go, what time, if you
01:06split your tickets and I think it's ridiculous. I think if we can bring the cost of the trains
01:12down for people, then people would stop using their cars and that's got to be a good thing
01:16for the environment. So yeah, I'm really in favour of it.
01:19Yes, I'm quite willing to say that's a good thing.
01:22Yes, I think it's good and they should do water and energy too.
01:26And the post office. It's under control of the country, but it's back to the public.
01:32It's not profit driven. It's more in the hands of the public and if you control the prices
01:39people just might use it a bit more.
01:42I believe it's a good idea to re-nationalise the railways because they were nationalised
01:48in 1994, I think. We've seen a lot of cash being earned by high-end employers such as
02:03lawyers to introduce contracts for lots of the works that previously never needed to
02:11be used. I just think there was a lot of money wasted during privatisation that could
02:21have been used to develop the infrastructure. So yes, I think it's a good idea.
02:28Yeah, I totally agree with it. I mean, I remember when it was national rail before it became
02:31privatised. That way you're going to have one controlling management over it and not
02:39multiple managements where nobody knows what they're doing.
02:42No, I think rather the trains as they are. Because it's a lot easier for people, isn't it,
02:49to understand them. That's what we want. Less strikes to get cheaper. I'm in favour.
02:56I'm in favour. Yeah, nationalised because each private company is doing it for profit.
03:01They don't care about people. All these strikes they keep having. People have got to get to
03:06work now and keep having strikes. It's mucking everybody's life up really. I mean,
03:11they treat animals on the trains better than they do humans, in my opinion. I mean,
03:16I used to get a train to Skaggy. Two carriages and it's packed like it's hardy and it's a sweat,
03:20you know. It won't move. It's a disgrace.
