00:00Hello again. It's been a chilly July so far, but finally a bit of heat. But it is
00:05just a bit of heat, with some places not seeing it and others seeing temperatures
00:10get over 30 degrees for the first time this July. High pressure dominating to
00:14the east, low pressure systems and weather fronts trying to push in from
00:17the west. It's a classic battleground and the closer you are to the high
00:22pressure, the sunnier it's likely to be and the higher the temperatures are
00:26going to be as well. So we do see that warmth building over the next couple of
00:30days, but as these weather fronts try and push in, they will eventually bring
00:34something a bit cooler back in from the Atlantic, although not really until the
00:38second half of the weekend. Okay, let's bring it back to these weather fronts
00:42and the clouds coming in during Wednesday evening, thickening across
00:45Northern Ireland and Western Scotland. Outbreaks of rain just spreading in here.
00:50Through the early hours, that rain likely to turn a bit heavier across Northern
00:54Ireland and the west coast of Scotland. The odd shower coming into North Wales,
00:57North West England, but most of England, Wales, Southern and Eastern Scotland
01:02staying dry for the start of Thursday. A bit of mist and fog possible in the south
01:07this time of year. That mist and fog tends not to stick around too long, but it could
01:11be there for an hour or two after dawn. And it will be a fairly warm night, but
01:16warmer nights are to come. And it's not going to be fine and sunny everywhere
01:21during Thursday. Far from it, in fact. We've got that battleground with a high
01:25pressure dominating, bringing sunshine across the eastern areas. The weather
01:29fronts bringing cloud and rain for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Dull and
01:32damp day for Northern Ireland and Western Scotland. There will be some
01:35showery rain for Central, Southern and Eastern Scotland in the morning, but I
01:39think that should tend to peter out. So, much the afternoon dry and we should see
01:42some sunshine across the far northeast of Scotland, the Murray Firth for example.
01:47A bit more cloud compared to Wednesday across North West England for sure. The
01:51odd shower possible here, but for most of England and Wales it will be a fine and
01:56sunny one. And close to that high pressure, that's where the highest
01:59temperatures are going to be. Into the mid-20s quite widely across Central and
02:03Eastern England, 28 in and around the capital. Whereas it will be a cooler day
02:07for Scotland and Northern Ireland because there's more cloud and because
02:11of the outbreaks of rain, which will continue to peter out during Thursday
02:14evening. Still pretty damp across Western Scotland. The odd shower across Northern
02:18England, but for most it will be dry and fine as we head into Friday. But that
02:23warmer air is in place, so it is going to be quite a warm night certainly compared
02:27to many through July, with temperatures in some urban areas likely to stick in
02:31the mid to high teens. That will lead into a hot day on Friday for the
02:37Midlands and Eastern England. Again, some mist and fog and there will be more low
02:42cloud around these western coasts. So it could be quite grey and murky on some of
02:46these coasts. The odd little bit of rain is possible here, but generally a drier
02:50day on Friday for Northern Ireland and Western Scotland until that next
02:54weather system comes in. That will be bringing some rain to the Western Isles
02:58by Friday afternoon. For the bulk of England and Wales, hazy sunshine and even
03:03higher temperatures. Likely to get up to 30, possibly even 31 in and around London.
03:08And again, for much of England and Wales, temperatures well above average into the
03:11mid-twenties. A warmer day on Friday for Scotland and Northern Ireland compared to
03:16Thursday, even here slightly above average. But feeling cooler as this rain
03:21comes in late in the day. And that will mix things up a little bit for the
03:25weekend. For more details on the longer range, make sure you check out our 10-day
