01:10who would win the intermediate sprints prize by the end of the day and Justine
01:14Ghecchiera as well also going clear to try and take the mountain points that
01:21would rubber stamp her situation at the head of the battle for the Maglia at
01:25Zurich Belgian rider infiltrating a group of four riders in total clear of
01:32the field Lucinda Brand Claire Steele's also there Katrina Ollerud that group
01:39quickly back and very soon back into the clutches of the main peloton dwindling
01:44in size into the final 50 kilometers Francesca Koch particularly active and
01:50animated during the day in her efforts to get clear of the field
01:55Kopecky searching for that single-second advantage and trying to control the main
02:01peloton to keep the breakaway groups to a minimum even their efforts struggling
02:10as three riders raced clear and Elisa Longomorghini tracking her rival as she
02:16has done throughout much of the week Longomorghini just needs to stay in the
02:22wheel of a lot of Kopecky through to the conclusion of the day a lot of
02:27Kopecky meanwhile trying to close down the group of three riders up front in
02:35the closing stages of the event Kim Lecourt managing to make it into a move
02:42with Ruth Edwards and Francesca Koch as they opened up an advantage of north of

03:35draw that one second clear that she needed to get on terms up front Kim
03:41Lecourt had the sprint and had the strength to take a glorious first stage
03:47success in the Giro d'Italia AG insurance squad finishing the week in
03:52fine style because I always see the others are stronger than me and today
03:57proved that this possible and yeah it's not only for me but this is for the team
04:05you
04:10the GC protagonists went for glory behind and instead of Kopecky put in
04:15distance into Elisa Longa Borghini it was the other way around Elisa Longa
04:19Borghini across the line in fourth place 21 seconds clear of her rival lot of
04:26Kopecky joy unbound as she finally could release the emotion and sense the
04:32achievement of taking a first victory for Italy in the event since 2008 I'm
04:38really proud to wear this Maglia Rosa in Italy with the Lidl track jersey on I
04:43will need some time to realize what I've been doing joy unbound to for Kim Lecourt
04:48and she celebrated her stage success on the podium
04:54Edwards and Koch doing a wonderful job in the top three overall as Elisa Longa
05:00Borghini joined by Niamh Bradbury and by second place lot of Kopecky on the
