00:00First Milano-Sanremo, excited?
00:03Yeah, very excited, not only for me but to be honest for the upcoming Milano-Sanremo
00:11that will take place in the future because I think today it's historical
00:17we get to race again on these roads after 20 years
00:21and we deserve it more than anyone else I think
00:26and I really hope when I finish my career to stay on the Poggio and see the women riding on
00:32What would be the best picture in your mind on the Via Roma?
00:37To see an Italian winning, I don't know who
00:42but to see the new Milano-Sanremo won by an Italian
00:48The Italian champion?
00:51To be honest and to be realistic it's quite hard for me to win this race
00:57I'm not super fast and the chances that the sprinters will stay in the peloton are a lot
01:07so if it's not the Tricolore, another race
01:11After winning Strade Bianche, how big would it be to win also Milano-Sanremo, the first one?
01:16That would be of course very very special
01:19It's a nice rainy day so I like that, we will see how it goes today
01:26You like it, how can you take advantage of this rainy day?
01:29I think rain makes it always a bit harder, especially mentally
01:32and I think that's always a good something for me
01:36Have you mentalized an ideal scenario?
01:39Ideal scenario would be of course that it's really hard
01:42and that we can make a difference on one of the two climbs
01:46That's very hopeful but I think we are not the only ones
01:50I think there are a lot of favorites here like Elisa Longobargini in her Italian champion jersey
01:55She's also very motivated with her team
01:59And then of course Lorena Wiebes and Lotte Kopecki
02:02They are a really strong team together as well
02:06I'm looking forward to the battle
02:09Not really my type of race maybe
02:12but it's the first time so I cannot really judge
02:15and we'll see only after the finish line
02:17It has happened that riders like Mathieu Van Der Poel chose to start the season at Milano-Sanremo and win
02:23Why haven't you raced before?
02:26Because this season I want to try something different
02:30I've heard already a few times that at the end of the Spring Classics
02:34I was still good but not good enough to win
02:37I would like to be really good at the end of April
02:40so that's why I chose to have a little bit more rest this winter
02:43and to have a little longer build-up towards now
02:47and hopefully improve race by race from now on towards Liege
02:52You started your career just after the last edition of Milano-Sanremo
02:57How good is it to have Milano-Sanremo now?
03:00It's fantastic to have it on the calendar
03:03Of course we have a lot of beautiful other races on the calendar
03:08but to have the addition of this monument it's fantastic
03:12What is special with the course?
03:14It's so special that in the final of course, well the whole race
03:18but especially the final in such a short period of time
03:21there are so many scenarios possible
03:24We've seen it in the men's race and I'm excited to know what happens today
03:29What is special with Milano-Sanremo in your mind?
03:32Everything is special about today I think
03:34To just put a number on it and be here today really means a lot to me
03:38Everything this year is for my first race for the year
03:41and for everyone else today it's also the first ever Sanremo
03:45or the return of the Sanremo
03:47so I think today is a really historical day and really really special
03:50and one I remember for hopefully the rest of my career
03:53Do you like the weather conditions?
03:55Yes I do, I'm from the UK and even from a rainier part of the UK, Yorkshire
04:00so 100% I love when it rains, it makes me ready to fight even more I think
