00:00The final day of the Torreno Adriatico had it all.

00:10Destination San Bernadetto del Tronto, one categorised climb along the way and then of

00:15course multiple laps around the great finale city itself.

00:20Well all eyes on of course Ayuso but particularly those who would try and change some places

00:26perhaps in the overall classification.

00:29Many people Ghana looked lively and Eden said before the day began that he had intentions

00:35on going stronger.

00:36Tarozzi likewise in the green jersey would be a man to celebrate I think, almost a victory

00:42lap for him.

00:43What about everybody else?

00:45Last chance for the sprinters and every single day so far had had a different winner.

00:50Would that be the case today?

00:52Well a breakaway on the final day, last chance saloon for somebody who was very, very brave

00:57and that somebody of course was none other than Mathieu van der Poel.

01:01He went off with a band of five brothers including Tarozzi who was kind of showboating I think

01:07you might say but the pace behind was absolutely relentless and the reason was there was a

01:12battle plan from Ineos Grenadiers.

01:14They wanted to deliver Peepo Ghana to second place overall courtesy of bonus seconds at

01:20the intermediate sprint and what that did was it killed off the breakaway.

01:25Eden van der Poel himself was busy blowing out the trumpets.

01:31So who would sound it?

01:32What would be the clarion call?

01:34They came to the intermediate sprint and well something magical was happening out there.

01:38Ghana and Milan, his erstwhile team mate worked together giving Ghana bonus seconds, others

01:44no bonus at all, just bruises at the end of the day.

01:48Yes it was a hard game to play out there certainly for the likes of Paul Magna who took a tumble

01:53and so on to the circuit itself.

01:55That intermediate sprint starting to loom large in everybody's minds.

01:59How would it pan out?

02:01Well Ayuso himself just had to finish the day, pats on the back coming from the great

02:07and the good out there.

02:10You had to be very good on this day and you had to kind of have a computer brain as well

02:14to work out all of the mathematics along the way.

02:19Milan himself relayed back in, was it going to be a dangerous moment for him?

02:24He of course looking for Ciclamino points, that jersey carried of course by Tom Pidcock

02:29after his exploits during this great race.

02:33And so the intermediate sprint came, Ghana got up there and superseded Tiberi who was

02:39also in the frame.

02:40Tiberi getting one bonus second, Ghana himself with the help of Milan perhaps getting the

02:45three bonus seconds, Milan picking up enough points to secure Ciclamino no matter the result.

02:51While some were having troubles, there was a little bit of chitchat going on between

02:55Ayuso who's now almost secured in blue, just had to come home cleanly on the day.

03:01And clean finishes, well they can be hard to find in San Benedetto del Tronto.

03:06Some real pinch points out there and some corners that could shake.

03:10Well all the jerseys would be of course awarded by the end of the day but that was still that

03:15intermediate and indeed final sprint finish to be dealt with.

03:19And when the bell rang to say there was one more lap, all the sprint teams got themselves

03:24into colour order, the pinch points on the circuit were magnified in terms of their importance

03:29I guess you might say.

03:30Corey was getting himself up and into position, Groenewegen had been out of position, was

03:34battling to get back on and indeed the drag race to the line was there for all to see.

03:41Spectacular this race has been and indeed on the switch back to the coastal road, some

03:47going wide, then the pinch, then the chicane and then finally opening up for a look at

03:52the finale.

03:54Lined up was Milan, looked like he was having fun out there, others were getting involved

03:58and then a big crash leaving San Benedetto on one side of the road versus Milan on the

04:03other.

04:04They ground to the line, Milan took it by a wheel at the very last, lots of bruises

04:09back there and another spectacular day had been dealt.

04:13Milan take it ahead of Bennett, Coy, Jake Stewart and Penneway and there are podium.

04:20I used to know the winner, Ghana moving up because of that intermediate sprint into second

04:24place and indeed Tiberi rounding out the podium.

04:28Milan in Ciclamino edging Thomas Pidcock who has been so reliable and our king of the mountains

04:34of course Tarozzi.

04:36Young rider, also our overall winner Juan Ayuso.

04:40What an amazing race and what a fabulous, fabulous 60th edition of the Tirreno Adriatico.
