00:00Students who scored 10 As in their SPM but had their application for a spot in a
00:07matriculation college rejected have been encouraged to enroll at a university in
00:12Sarawak. In reaching out to these top performers, Sarawak Deputy Education,
00:16Innovation and Talent Development Minister Dr Anwar Rappi said the
00:20foundation program at University of Technology Sarawak is totally free and
00:24students there can study with no worries about funds. Anwar who is also the
00:29university's chairman referred to state premier Abang Johari Obeng's
00:33announcement that starting in 2026 the state will provide free education for
00:37over 25,000 students at all Sarawak-owned universities. He also said the cost of
00:43living while studying at the state-owned university was low and students could
00:47continue to pursue their degrees there after completing their foundation
00:50program. Anwar said UTS offered courses up to the doctorate level and prided
00:56on the high employability rate of its graduates adding that straight-A
01:00scholars would get an offer immediately.
