00:00Three DAP leaders have hit out at their PAS counterparts for politicizing a Christmas

00:06celebration organized by the Housing and Local Government Ministry, saying such action contradicted

00:11the statement by the Islamic Party's Secretary General.

00:16In a joint statement, Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali, Young Shifura Othman, and Shahrizad Johan

00:22said the PAS leader's stance proved that despite attempts to portray the party as inclusive,

00:27PAS leaders had no respect for the rights of Malaysia's multicultural citizens.

00:33On December 24th, PAS Secretary General Takyuddin Hassan said in his Christmas message that

00:38the Christian holidays were a vital part of Malaysia's cultural tapestry.

00:43However, yesterday, PAS Youth Vice Chief Hanif Jamaluddin had taken issue with a Christmas

00:49celebration organized by the ministry as it involved Muslim staff.

00:54The ministry later clarified that it did not force any of its personnel to attend

00:58the Christmas function and that the Christmas carolers who performed at the event were East

01:03Malaysian Christians.

01:06The trio, who are also DAP's Central Executive Committee members, said PAS should be upholding

01:11the rights and protecting the interests of all races as stipulated in the federal constitution.

01:18They said PAS should not be creating divisions by being narrow-minded.
