00:00And the campaign for the upcoming Venezuela's presidential elections begins officially on July 4th with 10 candidates
00:06Nine of whom are from the opposition. To tell us more details about this historic event in Venezuela our correspondent Brian Meir
00:15Tomorrow July 4th marks the official start of Venezuela's presidential election campaign
00:21The elections are going to take place on the 28th of July. There are 10 candidates, nine from the opposition
00:29Of course many of them have already been out
00:33Engaging in some kinds of campaign activities, but tomorrow is the day that everything really kicks in. There are multiple street parades
00:40Scheduled for tomorrow. Candidates are going to be on the streets asking people for their votes
00:45Now this is the 31st election that's been held since Hugo Chavez first took power in
00:521999 and this year
00:54Expectations are that things should be a little bit calmer
00:57I've been talking to some of the people here on the streets in the Petare neighborhood on the periphery of Caracas
01:02And they're saying that unlike four years ago when there was a lot of tension
01:06The economic conditions seemed to have calmed to the population a little bit more this time around. Now the IMF is projecting
01:145% GDP growth this year
01:16But the Venezuelan Central Bank is predicting a growth rate of 8 or 9 percent. The economic situation is the best
01:23It's been in years. In June last month
01:26It was the lowest inflation rate in that month for the last 39 years
01:31And so all signs seem to indicate that this year the elections are going to run smoothly
01:38With less problems than there were four years ago
01:41And it's only a few weeks off now as election day is marked for July 28
01:46I
01:48Think we are used to it the voting we complied we did our duty and it no longer happens like years ago
01:55Many years ago when people were nervous about shopping about whether something was going to happen
02:01No, that is something that we have already overcome
02:07We're waiting to see what happens but I don't think anything's gonna happen here in the country
02:12We are in Venezuela and Venezuela is the best country in the world
02:15And we hope that our brothers who are out of the country come and remember what they asked for bad things for the country
02:21We have to remember 2017
02:242016 2018 when they burned people when they killed people for being black
