00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and we're building upon greatness to create perfection. These are 10
00:20DLC's that were better than the original game. Being better than the main game isn't an easy
00:25achievement for DLC's as most of the time DLC's are made because the original was successful.
00:30But don't expect Undead Nightmare, The Ballad of Gay Tony or Far Harbor on this list because
00:34even though they are some of the best DLC's ever made, the original games were still 10 out of 10.
00:40Before we continue, we publish content all week long so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:45the bell to get notified of our latest videos. Cold Cold Hearts Batman Arkham Origins
00:55I can already feel people getting mad in the comments as Arkham Origins is beloved. It can
01:06be argued however that the Cold Cold Hearts DLC was even better so please don't beat me up.
01:12It introduced an engaging storyline centred around Mr Freeze offering players a compelling
01:16narrative. The DLC expands the game world with a new area to explore Wayne Manor which adds
01:21variety and freshness to the gameplay experience. It also introduces new gadgets and abilities
01:26specific to Batman's encounter with Mr Freeze enhancing gameplay mechanics and offering new
01:31tactical challenges. Whether it surpasses the main game is subjective but ultimately it builds
01:37upon the greatness of the original so let's all just be happy we're having fun and please don't kill me.
01:52Phantom Liberty Cyberpunk 2077
02:06Cyberpunk 2077 was such an unbelievable clusterfuck upon release, it's not too hard for a DLC to be
02:13better than that. Nonetheless, the Phantom Liberty DLC addressed numerous issues and
02:18added substantial content. Key fixes included enhanced AI behaviours which made NPCs more
02:24responsive and more realistic and improvements to vehicle handling making driving smoother.
02:29The update also overhauled the skill tree and progression system providing more meaningful
02:34character development and customisation. These enhancements collectively revitalised Cyberpunk
02:392077 making it far closer to the games original vision and showing us what we should have got
02:453 years earlier. Come on guys.
02:48Whistleblower Outlast
03:02The 2013 first person survival horror game Outlast developed by Red Barrel Games is
03:18undeniably a terror filled experience. I should have spent my 18th birthday doing
03:23cool guy stuff and instead I beat this game in one sitting. Happy birthday to me.
03:28I was aggressively excited when I saw a DLC available for download and almost all fans
03:33saw the Whistleblower DLC as a significant improvement over the main game, particularly
03:37in terms of storytelling. By focusing on a different character, Whistleblower addressed
03:42many unresolved questions from the first game and introduced its own unique moments. It was
03:47scary, it was interesting and it had some of the collective first games best moments.
03:58Burning Shores Horizon Forbidden West
04:15The Burning Shores DLC for Horizon Forbidden West received praise for its enhancements over
04:20the main game, which was itself pretty damn solid, so big props Burning Shores.
04:25Set in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, the DLC introduced a visually stunning new region,
04:30filled with detailed environments that pushed the games graphical capabilities even further
04:34than they already were. Gameplay wise, Burning Shores offered fresh challenges,
04:39more complex enemies, additional weapons and skills and an enhanced combat experience. This
04:44was one of those entries that benefited from the feedback of the main game,
04:47allowing devs to make meaningful improvements that made the DLC shine.
04:51Shivering Isles The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Shivering Isles took an already outstanding
04:57game map and added some beautiful new areas that turned the fourth Elder Scrolls entry up to 11.
05:04In addition to its outstanding environments, Shivering Isles offered impressive new armor
05:09sets made from unique island ore, along with fun new weapons and spells. By using the environment
05:14to directly influence your gear was a brilliant move that influenced the way other developers
05:19approached their own game DLCs. The expansion features a plethora of engaging and multi-layered
05:24quests, with none feeling out of place, and best of all, its fetch quests are good. Let me repeat
05:30myself, ITS FETCH QUESTS ARE GOOD. Blood Dragon Far Cry 3 This is one that may separate the
05:47commenters and cause me pain and agony from keyboard abusers, but here we go nonetheless.
05:51Blood Dragon takes the successful gameplay formula of Far Cry 3 and transports it into
05:57a cheesy 80s sci-fi action movie. On paper, this might not sound that interesting, but in reality,
06:03its one of the greatest things gamers have ever experienced. The game embraced its nostalgic
06:08excess, featuring colourful and explosive weapons and enemies, with overly dramatic red lighting
06:13frequently illuminating the skies. Your character Rex Power Colt delivers ridiculous one-liners at
06:18every opportunity. The entire experience is an absolute blast and feels like a spiritual
06:23successor to Duke Nukem. Point Lookout Fallout 3 I don't think there is a DLC on this list that
06:41I got down with more than Point Lookout, so let's get down to business. This DLC for Fallout 3 is
06:47often considered superior to the main game for several reasons. It introduces a vast, eerie swamp
06:53environment, diverging from the Capital Wasteland's urban decay, offering a fresh and haunting
06:57atmosphere. The narrative is compelling and darker, focusing on local urban myths, cults,
07:03and hidden secrets, which adds depth to the game's lore. With a more significant choice system,
07:08replayability is enhanced even more than it already was with the very replayable Fallout 3.
07:13Minerva's Den Bioshock 2 Bioshock 2 is one of the more unfortunate sequels in gaming history. Tasked
07:33with following a predecessor often cited in the video games as art debate, the devs were up
07:38shits creek without a paddle. While it didn't quite match the original, it was still a solid
07:42game. Not a super solid game, but good enough. However, Bioshock 2 stands out for having the
07:48series' best DLC. Minerva's Den is regarded as one of the greatest DLCs in gaming and for good
07:54reason. Its storytelling, level design, and atmosphere are still fondly remembered,
07:58surpassing even the original and 2013's Bioshock Infinite in this regard. What a comeback.
08:08Wrath of the Lich King World of Warcraft World of Warcraft's numerous expansions have
08:24consistently revitalised gameplay for even the most seasoned players, introducing new level caps,
08:29raids, storylines, and quests. I for one started with the Burning Crusade, so I was able to witness
08:35one of the most substantial overhauls the game has ever seen, when the Wrath of the Lich King
08:39elevated the game to new heights, showcasing the potential of subscription-based expansions. Its
08:44plot was expertly integrated into gameplay, questing was rewarding, and the continent of
08:49Northrend made levelling enjoyable. Most notably, it offered refreshingly different raids that could
08:55accommodate up to 25 players. Wrath of the Lich King refined the World of Warcraft formula,
09:00inspiring more players than ever to subscribe. Shadow of the Erd Tree Elden Ring
09:30This was a tough one to categorise because the main game is game of the year award winning and
09:40outstanding in every aspect of its gameplay, but it's arguable that the Elden Ring DLC,
09:46Shadows of the Erd Tree, surpasses the main game by building on its foundations with enhanced
09:51content and refined mechanics. It introduces new, richly detailed areas that expand the
09:56already vast and immersive world, offering fresh environments to explore and conquer.
10:00It truly is main game plus, which is hard to argue as not better. The DLC also brings in
10:06more complex and challenging bosses, pushing players skills to new limits and providing
10:10a sense of accomplishment upon victory. New weapons, spells and abilities enrich the combat
10:15system. It just makes what was already an incredible game, an unbelievable monster of
10:20a game. Did you enjoy this video? Check out these other clips from Mojo Plays and be sure
