00:00On Sunday, more than 1,100 voting centers opened in Venezuela for the electoral simulation
00:05that will take place.
00:07In this way, Elvis Amoroso, president of the National Electoral Council, detailed that
00:10more than 21 million voters will be able to go to the nearest center to familiarize themselves
00:15with the voting system.
00:17On the other hand, Amoroso denounced that some presidential candidates do not recognize
00:20Sunday's simulation, disregarding the Constitution and the electoral laws.
00:24In addition, Amoroso invited citizens and international observers to participate in
00:29this event, which is part of the electoral calendar.
00:38Let's now go live with our correspondent Gladys Quezada for more information about the electoral
00:42drill from the main headquarters of the Bolivarian University of Venezuela in Caracas.
00:46Hello Gladys.
00:47Hello Luis.
00:49Hello Luis, thanks for the time and also for this moment to report to you from Caracas.
00:56Actually, as you were saying, we are here in the Bolivarian University, La Universidad
01:01Bolivariana, one of the many voting centers, over 3,000 voting centers that are opened
01:08today to allow this electoral drill.
01:12As you can see, the voters are coming here to the opening hours because the voting centers
01:18are opening at 8 a.m.
01:20So it has just passed only 32 minutes after the opening hours.
01:26And, as you can see, there is a big affluence, a large turnout of voters here in this voting
01:33center.
01:34Here the people are coming, the voters, the citizens, and they are accomplishing the electoral
01:39protocols because first they have to show their documents of identification, and afterwards
01:45they have to, of course, to do all the process of going, voting in the ballot box, because
01:52you know the voting is secret, so they have to go to that area that you are seeing, and
01:57afterwards they have to check back again their identity in order to have the evidence of
02:02the voting and to also compare and do crossing information regarding how many voters have
02:09come in here.
02:10In this center, it is expected over 3,000 voters, 100, or I beg your pardon, 1,500 per
02:19voting table or voting ballot box.
02:23So every time the voters come in here, the authorities have implemented all the resources,
02:29and they are checking the effectiveness of this process today because this is one of
02:34the methods for voting, and it also is part of the protocol observed ahead of the July
02:4128th presidential elections.
02:43As you can see, every one of the voters have come in here showcasing and showing to the
02:48authorities their identity cards, and also they have to give their fingerprint as all
02:54their evidence of their voting and the validity of their identification.
03:00Also, as you know, today is one of the many, many days accomplishing the protocol because
03:06the registration phase of the candidates have passed last March.
03:11Also in April were the registration process.
03:14Afterwards, all the candidates presented their program of government, and the campaign in
03:20time, the proselytizing time starts on July the 4th.
03:24As of today, 28 days ahead of the presidential elections is conducted or are conducted these
03:31electoral drills all over the country.
03:33We are in Caracas, but other voting centers and other states also are observing this part
03:39of the protocol.
03:40And as you know, this will allow all the authorities to perfect the system, to perfect also the
03:49materials, and to oversee if all the protocols are observed and are accomplished in this
03:56voting process.
03:57All of this will allow transparency and will allow a better performance on July 28th with
04:03the presidential polls.
04:04Also, as you know, there are international observers coming to accompany the process.
04:11Currently, these electoral international institutes and other authorities are coming
04:17in here to assess what Venezuela is doing ahead of these presidential elections.
04:23We recall the information.
04:24There are 10 candidates, 9 of them of the opposition, and one of them, Nicolas Maduro
04:30Moros, is the presidential candidate for the Socialist United Party of Venezuela, which
04:35is the main, is the core political force here in the country and also is the core political
04:40force in the great coalition of the great patriotic poll.
04:46All of this information, all of our audience can find it in our website and also in other
04:52platforms that we, as Telesur, have habilitated and have put on for them to get all of this
05:00data.
05:02As you can see, this is one of those days that Venezuela is going to the polls again.
05:06This is the 29th election in over 25 years of revolution and this is something that is
05:14not new for Venezuelan authorities and is not new for the Venezuelan voters.
05:19This is it.
05:20This is the start of the voting day here in Venezuela.
05:23As you can see, I reiterate the information.
