00:00The Switch. Millie the narrow-gauge engine loves her job at Ulfstead Castle.
00:10She loves being a really useful engine and doing whatever needs to be done on the estate.
00:18Running errands for the groundskeeper and showing visitors around the castle grounds.
00:32Luke is also a narrow-gauge engine and he loves his job at the Blue Mountain Quarry.
00:39He feels right at home in the noise and the dust.
00:43He loves collecting crushed stone and carrying boulders.
00:48He really loves whooshing through the dark tunnels and bursting out the other side.
00:57One day, Luke was given a job that took him out of the quarry to Ulfstead Castle.
01:05Hello there!
01:10Hello, my name's Luke. I've come with the stone for the castle.
01:15Great! Well, I'm the Earl and this is Millie.
01:20Bonjour!
01:21She'll show you where to take the stone.
01:25You've got a smudgy face.
01:28Oh, yes. Well, it's quite dusty over in the quarry.
01:34Why don't you stay here for the rest of the day? I could show you around.
01:39I'd love to, but I should really return to the quarry. I have work to do there.
01:46I have work to do there too.
01:50That sounds great, but I have more of these stones to move. They're very heavy.
01:57I have to pull heavy loads too, like supplies for the estate.
02:02Good for you. Well, I'd better rush back to the quarry.
02:07Anyone can do that.
02:09I'll see you later.
02:12And then an idea flew into Luke's funnel.
02:16Oh, I know! What's that?
02:20It's an idea!
02:22It's an idea!
02:24It's an idea!
02:26It's an idea!
02:28It's an idea!
02:30It's an idea!
02:32It's an idea!
02:34It's an idea!
02:36It's an idea!
02:39Oh, I know! Why don't we switch places?
02:43What? Swap duties?
02:46Just for the day.
02:48So I can see what it's like to do your job in the quarry.
02:52And I can see what it's like to do your job at the castle.
02:57The Earl thought Luke and Millie's plan sounded fun,
03:01but first he had to speak to the thin controller, Mr Percival.
03:05Mr Percival says a switch sounds like an excellent idea.
03:13Millie puffed up to the Blue Mountain quarry.
03:17She was curious.
03:19She was also quite nervous at what she might find there.
03:24Meanwhile, Luke set to work at Ulstead Castle,
03:28full to the top of his funnel with confidence.
03:33Are you sure this is a good idea?
03:36The thin controller has approved it, Rheneas.
03:39Can you take these trucks over to Owing, please, Millie?
03:43No problem, Peter Sam.
03:50I knew it. Give the trucks to me.
03:54Well done, Millie.
04:01Meanwhile, at Ulstead Castle...
04:04Is that it? I can pull that easily.
04:12This load is ever so light.
04:15Now to find the groundskeeper's lodge.
04:20But all Luke could see was green trees and green grass.
04:25Green, green, green.
04:28Everywhere looks the same around here.
04:31Luke was used to the busy quarry,
04:33full of dusty machines and tumbling stone.
04:36Not big open spaces.
04:41Luke found himself back where he'd started.
04:44He'd travelled the full loop of the estate.
04:47Wait, what?
04:49I've been all the way around the park,
04:52but where was the groundskeeper's lodge?
04:58Millie was pulling her load through the quarry
05:01when she came to the mouth of a tunnel.
05:06What's the horn for?
05:09It's a signal.
05:12What's the horned up?
05:14Sorry, I'm not used to going into tunnels.
05:18The tunnel seemed like a small and dark space
05:21compared to the castle grounds.
05:24Well, I can't hang around all day. Get going.
05:27I... I'm not sure that I can.
05:30I can give you a push if it helps.
05:33No, I can do it.
05:36Here I go.
05:42Woo!
05:45I love tunnels!
05:49Later on, Luke had been given a different job,
05:52pulling sightseers around the estate.
05:55But there was a deer on the track.
06:01Hmm. If I want to be a really useful engine,
06:05I should get that deer out of the way.
06:09ALL GROAN
06:14Here you go, Luke.
06:16Oh, hello there.
06:18Luke's doing my job today and I'm doing his.
06:22My name's Millie.
06:24Oh, pleased to meet you, Millie.
06:27But can you take this load of gravel off me?
06:30COUGHS
06:32COUGHS
06:45COUGHS
06:48Off you go, then.
06:53Back at the Earl's Estate, Luke was speeding through the ground.
07:02Luke! It's not a race.
07:05The passengers don't like being bounced around like peas in a pod.
07:10Again! Again!
07:13Sorry, sir.
07:15You've got to learn to take things a bit easy.
07:19You wouldn't have spent so long looking for the groundskeeper's lodge
07:23if you'd gone a bit slower.
07:26At the quarry, Millie had learned that she was stronger than she realised.
07:32That she wasn't afraid of tunnels.
07:36And that she didn't mind a little dust.
07:41While Luke realised that there was so much to see at the park.
07:46ALL GASP
07:48And the best way to see it all was to keep his eyes open
07:52and take things smooth and steady.
07:56Luke had finished his day's work and was leaving when he saw Millie.
08:01You've got a smudgy face!
08:06Well, it's quite dusty over in the quarry.
08:09Did you like it there?
08:11Yes, I loved the tunnels and the noise. So exciting!
08:16How about you?
08:18It was very peaceful and beautiful, but...
08:23I can't wait to get home!
08:26Me too!
08:29Bye, Millie!
08:31Au revoir!
08:33Millie and Luke were glad to be heading back to their old jobs.
08:37But they were both very happy to have made a new friend.
