What places across the district are underrated?

In its weekly voxpop, the Advertiser found out what people consider to be some of the most underrated places within the district.

00:00The castle is one of the things. It's a beautiful castle with a fabulous history to it. Also

00:13the walks along the river, you can often walk along the river even on days like today and

00:18perhaps see just a few people with dogs, that's all, and it's glorious along there. And of

00:23course the market square, medieval market square, not many of them left in the country,

00:27especially been as that one's got most of its shops occupied, which is tremendous. Independent

00:32little cafes use them. I just visited Southwell and I think it's a very pretty, historic little

00:41town, lots of lovely eclectic shops, a nice atmosphere and I would certainly recommend

00:49going there. I thought it was lovely, really, really lovely. The castle area is nice. Down

00:56by the Trent, they do boat trips up and down the Trent, which is quite nice. The Sconce Hills

01:02Park, that's nice because it's got a little cafe on there and you can sit down and it's a nice play

01:06area for the kids. You've got the hills, haven't you, what are they called, where a building was

01:15at Sconce Hills. I don't know. It's a nice walk with the dogs and stuff. Millgate's nice as well,

01:21down the river, have a walk down there and see the weir and the water and that. Also,

01:28another nice place is at the back of Collingham, you can get to the Cromwell Weir and that's a

01:33nice walk up there and you can sit and have a picnic on the banks and it's nice to see the

01:38water coming off. Yeah, there is some nice walks, isn't there. Could do with spending some money on

01:43it, that's what they could do with. People are very friendly, it's dog friendly, I have two dogs.

01:52And I'm here specifically because my daughter lives here, so it's been a nice place to come to

01:59and move to. I think that it could be like around the castle and that more, you know what I mean,

02:08they should do like event things and that on there, they should bring people together.

02:13It's one of the famous things of Newark, so I think they should do things for the Newark people

02:19more, wouldn't they. I don't really know, I'm not from Newark, so I would say perhaps

02:27the market square.
