00:00 The RSPB is working with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service to just draw people's attention
00:06 to the dangers of wildfires out in the countryside. Here at Sherwood Forest we've got this beautiful
00:12 ancient oak woodland. It's a clear oasis for nature, it's a really important place, it's
00:17 internationally significant woodland. Wildfire, fire in general, is a real threat to it potentially,
00:24 especially in those dry summer months. So what we're asking people to do is to respect
00:29 the fact that we ask that there are no barbecues, no campfires, and if you have to smoke that
00:35 you are extinguishing your cigarettes responsibly and carefully so that we don't run the risk
00:41 of losing these incredible trees to wildfire. A day out at Sherwood Forest is a wonderful
00:46 experience but our priority is really that everybody enjoys it safely. So one of the
00:52 ways we can do that is to prevent any risk of fire starting. So please don't bring disposable
01:00 barbecues, please don't try and set up a campfire because not only are you risking this beautiful
01:05 natural environment but you're risking the lives of yourselves and other visitors too.
01:10 And if you do bring a picnic, and there's lots of lovely places to have a picnic or
01:14 to eat at our cafe for example, the visitor centre, please if you've got litter, bag it
01:20 up, ideally take it home because as we know litter can contribute to fires as well. If
01:25 you're visiting Sherwood Forest or you happen to be passing on the Swinecote Road or any
01:29 of the other roads that go around the edge of the perimeter of the reserves and you see
01:33 smoke or see fire, please don't hesitate, call 999 because there should not be fire
01:40 here and if there is, it could be a huge risk to the stunning wildlife of Auckland and the
01:47 wildlife that cause it.
