00:14The upcoming slasher In a Violent Nature takes inspiration from filmmakers who aren't typically
00:17associated with horror, particularly Terrence Malick and Gus Van Sant. As director Chris
00:22Nash explained to Entertainment Weekly,
00:24For years, I thought of applying their form and aesthetic to the horror genre, and a slasher
00:29seemed like the best fit, since many of them have flirted with that stylistic approach,
00:33but rarely commit to it beyond a set piece or two.
00:36Taking place in northern Ontario, and shot primarily from the perspective of the killer,
00:40In a Violent Nature tracks a silent monster as he brutally slays a group of teenagers
00:44in the wilderness. We never see the killer's face in the trailer, but the back of his head
00:49is enough to give you chills.
00:50Animals don't get too hung up on reason. They just keep killing.
00:55In a Violent Nature is set to be released in theaters May 31st, and then on Shudder
00:59later in the year.
01:01The Watchers stars Dakota Fanning as Mina, an artist who finds herself lost in a vast
01:06Irish forest. She locates a safe place to hide, but she's not alone, as mysterious creatures
01:12stalk her and her three companions every night, trapping them in the wilderness.
01:16As New Line Cinema president and chief creative officer Richard Brenner promised,
01:20Equal parts visual, immersive, and terrifying, the script grips you from the first page and
01:25never lets go.
01:26This is the feature directorial debut of Ashana Shyamalan, daughter of Twistmaster M. Night,
01:31who serves as one of the producers.
01:33The trailer doesn't offer up much in the way of a plot, as Mina travels to a remote
01:37cabin carrying a yellow bird, but why she's there and what the strange creatures want
01:41remains a mystery.
01:43We'll find out if Ashana can live up to her family legacy when The Watchers is released
01:46in theaters on June 7th.

01:50A Quiet Place was the biggest horror film of 2018, and A Quiet Place Part II followed
01:55soon thereafter.
01:57Now we have a prequel spin-off in the form of A Quiet Place Day One, which takes place
02:01in the same universe but follows new characters.
02:03The film goes back to the very beginning of the alien invasion and unfolds in New York
02:08City with Lupita Nyong'o in the lead role.
02:11The first trailer begins by reminding us of the events of the original film before setting
02:14the clock back 476 days earlier, Nyong'o's characters walking the streets of the Big
02:19Apple holding a cat when white streaks appear in the sky and explosions rain down on the
02:24city.
02:25This marks the first appearance of the long-legged, sound-sensitive aliens on Earth, and the carnage
02:30looks more brutal than anything we saw in the previous films.
02:33We'll find out if Nyong'o and her furry friends survive the devastation when A Quiet
02:37Place Day One arrives in theaters on June 28th.
02:41Kai West is one of the most inventive horror directors working today.
02:44His upcoming film Maxine is the final film in the trilogy following 2022's X and Pearl.
02:50It stars Mia Goth in the title role as she moves to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of
02:54becoming a famous actress.
02:56The film takes place following the events of X, which saw Maxine survive a serial killer
03:01in Texas.
03:02But she isn't safe in Los Angeles either, where the fearsome Night Stalker killer haunts
03:06the city's residents.
03:09The movie's stacked cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Halsey, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin
03:15Bacon.
03:16If the trailer is any indication, we're in for a blood-soaked, neon-tinted treat.
03:21West has assured fans that Maxine will stand apart from his predecessors, though all three
03:25films have characters and themes in common.
03:28We'll find out soon enough what he and Goth have in store for us when Maxine is released
03:32in theaters on July 5th.
03:34A new horror movie starring Nicolas Cage and Micah Monroe sounds bloody good enough on
03:38its own.
03:39But in case you want to know more, Long Legs is a serial killer story set in 1974 with
03:44Monroe as young FBI agent Lee Harker.
03:47Assigned to an unsolved case connected to the occult, Harker discovers she may be closer
03:51than she realizes to the killer, who's played by Cage.
03:55The film's haunting teaser gives almost nothing away about the film's plot.
03:59A full trailer released in May offers some teases of dialogue, but is still mostly focused
04:03on just keeping things creepy.
04:05If nothing else, it will certainly be exciting to see Monroe, who's already a beloved scream
04:09queen in her own right, to just be on screen with the inimitable Cage.
04:13Long Legs makes its way into theaters on July 12th.
04:16Euphoria star Hunter Schafer takes a stab at becoming a scream queen with Cuckoo.
04:21She plays Gretchen, a 17-year-old girl dragged to the German Alps with her father and his
04:25new family.
04:26Alas, it quickly becomes clear that something is not right in this mountain town.
04:31Gretchen gets a job at the local resort, where people are constantly vomiting, and she keeps
04:35getting injured in mysterious circumstances.
04:38Her neighbors are quite creepy, and no one believes her when she insists that something
04:41sinister is going on.
04:43Cuckoo premiered to positive reviews at the Berlin International Film Festival in February,
04:47and the rest of us won't have to wait long to see it for ourselves, as it's set to be
04:50released in theaters on August 2nd.
04:53This year, we'll actually see the release of two films directed by a member of the Shyamalan
04:57family.
04:58Following his daughter Ishana's debut with The Watchers, M. Night returns with his latest,
05:02a thriller called Trap.
05:05Shyamalan fans know that he abhors spoilers, so the trailer for Trap may appear surprising
05:09at first glance.
05:11Josh Hartnett plays a dad named Cooper, who takes his daughter to a concert for Lady Raven,
05:15a pop star played by Salika Shyamalan, another one of the filmmaker's daughters.
05:20Everything seems normal until Cooper goes to the bathroom and notices an unusually significant
05:24police presence at the venue.
05:26A worker confides in him that the event is actually a trap to catch a fearsome serial
05:30killer known as the Butcher, who loves to chop people up.
05:33The Feds or whatever heard that he's gonna be here today, so they set up a trap for him.
05:39The twist seems to be that Cooper is actually the Butcher, which means he must find a way
05:43out before the police can stop him.
05:45It might seem like the trailer is giving too much away, but we're certain Shyamalan isn't
05:49showing us all his cards here.
05:51No doubt there's another twist, if not multiple ones, to look forward to when Trap hits theaters
05:56on August 9th.
05:58Some franchises will just never die.
06:00The upcoming Alien Romulus isn't a prequel exactly, but it does take place between the
06:05first and second Alien films.
06:07It follows a group of young space colonists, with Kaylee Spaney in the lead role.
06:11We don't know much about the plot yet, but there is a synopsis from 20th Century Studios,
06:16which notes,
06:17While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers
06:21come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
06:25The teaser doesn't give much away either, but that's usually a good thing when it comes
06:29to horror.
06:30We see the blood-soaked walls of a spaceship, a slimy appendage being pulled out of someone's
06:34mouth, and alien creatures scuttling around the halls.
06:38Director Fede Alvarez did an admirable job revamping an iconic horror series with his
06:422013 version of Evil Dead, so our expectations are high for Romulus' arrival into theaters
06:47on August 16th.
06:49Legacy sequels have become more and more common lately, and next up on the nostalgia train
06:54is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which pulls up more than 35 years after the original.
06:59The first film followed a family who moves into a home that's haunted by its previous
07:02residents and then things got really wacky when a shifty spirit showed up.
07:06Michael Keaton returns in the title role, with Catherine O'Hara and Winona Ryder also
07:11reprising their parts and Tim Burton returning as director.
07:14They'll be joined by Jenna Ortega as Astrid, the daughter of Ryder's character Lydia.
07:19Lydia returns to the house featured in the first film alongside her mother and daughter.
07:23It appears that they're there to attend a funeral.
07:25Another supernatural adventure looms when Astrid finds a miniature replica of the town
07:30and accidentally awakens Beetlejuice, who's thrilled to escape his undead realm when his
07:34sequel hits theaters September 6th.

07:39The shocking 2022 Danish film Speak No Evil is getting the American remake treatment.
07:44The original movie centers on two families, one Danish and one Dutch, who become friends
07:48while on vacation until chaos ensues.
07:51The Dutch crew is much more freewheeling than their Danish counterparts, and as misunderstandings
07:56and culture clashes pile up, things eventually come to a horrific head.
08:00Based on the remake's trailer, the plot appears to be pretty similar to the original, though
08:04it's likely that the social context will shift along with the new setting.
08:07The original hinges on the longstanding rivalry between the Danish and the Dutch, a specific
08:12history that may be hard to replicate.
08:14It also serves as a satire about middle-class decorum, a theme this version will likely
08:18tackle as well.
08:19Perhaps a great cast will help Speak No Evil avoid the fate of so many forgettable horror
08:24remakes.
08:25It stars Mackenzie Davis and Scoop McNary, who previously worked together on the AMC
08:29series Halt and Catch Fire.
08:31They play a couple who visit their new friend's house while on vacation.
08:34James McAvoy and Aisling Franchosi play the other couple, who may be hiding something
08:38sinister beneath their veneer of friendliness.
08:41Speak No Evil is set to hit theaters on September 13th.
08:44Sometimes it's okay to think things, but you can't actually say them.
08:49Never Let Go marks Halle Berry's first foray into horror since the early 2010s.
08:53According to the synopsis, the film follows a mother and her fraternal twin sons who have
08:58been tormented by an evil spirit for years, and are convinced to never let go of their
09:02family's protective bond.
09:04But when one of the boys questions if the evil is real, their connection is severed,
09:08triggering a terrifying fight for survival.
09:11In the director's chair is Alexander Aja, who has made a name for himself in the horror
09:15realm with the likes of The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, and Crawl.
09:19The trailer features Berry and the young boys in survivalist mode in a cabin in the woods,
09:24as the mother tells them they must hold onto a piece of rope for their safety.
09:27We're crossing our fingers that Never Let Go finds more success than Berry's previous
09:31horror projects, and we'll find out for sure when it arrives in theaters on September 27th.
09:37Who doesn't love a killer clown?
09:39Well, plenty of people don't, but they're not the ones watching the Terrifier franchise.
09:43March continues with its third outing this fall.
09:46The series stars David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, a serial killer who torments
09:50sisters Tara and Victoria in the first film on Halloween.
09:54Terrifier 2 also takes place on Halloween, and introduces two new siblings named Sienna
09:58and Jonathan as potential victims.
10:01The third entry is set during Christmas, and sees both Victoria and Sienna return in prominent
10:06roles.
10:07Writer-director Damian Leone isn't letting up on the gore this time around.
10:10As he tweeted in March,
10:12"...I can honestly say we just filmed one of the most insanely horrific scenes of the
10:16Terrifier franchise, and you'll never believe who couldn't handle it on set."
10:20And if everything goes according to Leone's plans, Terrifier 3 won't be the last we
10:24see of this franchise.
10:25As he told Insider,
10:27"...I definitely want to make at least one more.
10:29There may be two to tell this story and tackle all the ideas that I have in my head."
10:34We'll get to see Art's bloody journey continue when Terrifier 3 arrives in theaters on October
