Lightsabers, arguably the most iconic element in all of "Star Wars." More important than X-Wings, blasters, or even Wookies with life debts. Wielded by Jedis and the Sith alike, these weapons of pure energy can deflect blaster fire, cut through metal, and in the right hands change the course of a battle. The most unique aspect of a saber is its hilt. Because as everyone knows, Jedi have blue or green blades, while their enemies the Sith have red ones. However, there is one lightsaber that stands out among the rest. Not just for its unique color, but for an extra feature that no other saber in "Star Wars" lore has had. Keep watching to discover the inscription that made this "Star Wars" lightsaber unique.

00:00It's no secret that Samuel L. Jackson has a type.
00:03When you walk into a movie starring the veteran actor, you already have certain expectations
00:07about his character — a looming charisma, steely persona, and an abundance of endlessly
00:13quotable, expletive-driven rants — unless you're watching The Incredibles, of course.
00:17Where is my super suit?
00:21Whether it's bringing to life spy Nick Fury in the MCU or Jedi Master Mace Windu in the
00:26Star Wars prequels, the veteran actor is often typecast as the resident badass of whatever
00:31film he is in.
00:32It doesn't matter how big his role is, or if he's chasing snakes off planes or getting
00:37munched by sharks in the deep blue sea, Jackson has proven to be the literal avatar of badassery
00:43over the course of his career.
00:44You thinking what I'm thinking, partner?
00:47Aim for the bushes.
00:54But as if that's not enough, two of the characters the actor has played also carried objects
00:58inscribed with the phrase that adequately sums up their intimidating demeanors.
01:03At the end of Pulp Fiction, Jackson's hitman Jules Winfield has his wallet stolen by two
01:08up-and-coming criminals, and the wallet, inscribed with a two-word reminder of its owner's malignant
01:13nature, is the source of one of the film's many indelible deliveries by Jackson.
01:17When asked which wallet is his, Jules replies, oh so coolly,
01:22it's the one that says bad motherf----.
01:24True to his word, when the camera cuts to a shot of the wallet, there are the words
01:28inscribed in thick black letters.
01:30It's a moment that's so quintessentially Samuel L. Jackson, it should come as no surprise
01:34that it's not the only prop that's been inscribed with the phrase, or at least a version of
01:38it.
01:39While on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the actor revealed Mace Windu also had a similar
01:44reminder on his lightsaber as well.
01:47Turns out the prop department decided to have some fun and tipped their hat to Jackson's
01:50pulp fiction role, inscribing the button on his one-of-a-kind purple lightsaber with the
01:55acronym BMF.
01:58It's not like we needed proof the Jedi Master was one of the galaxy-far-far-away's many
02:02badasses, but a little personalization never hurts.
02:06Just ask Jules.
02:07After all, if Mace Windu ever does return to the Star Wars universe, he'll have to go
02:11on a bit of a hunt to find his lightsaber, which took quite the tumble along with him
02:15and his hand in Revenge of the Sith.
02:18But hey, if that means we get to see a Mace Windu version of the Jules Wallet Diner scene,
02:22where he tells whatever poor soul has his lightsaber it's the one with BMF on the button,
02:27then it'll have all been worth it in the end.
02:30That inscription isn't the only reason Windu's lightsaber stands out.
02:33After all, he's the only Jedi ever seen in the Star Wars universe to wield a purple-colored
02:38lightsaber, a rarity that's never addressed but collectively assumed to be just another
02:42stamp of badassery every single one of Jackson's characters appears to be blessed with.
02:47However, as reported by ScreenCrush, when the actor appeared on The Graham Norton Show,
02:51he candidly revealed the origins of his purple blade.
02:54Funny enough, he just wanted to be able to find himself in the arena scene in Attack
02:58of the Clones.
02:59I said to George, you think maybe I can get a purple lightsaber?
03:02It's a great scene that only further establishes Windu's image as the Jules Winfield of Jedi.
03:07But it's also the first time audiences saw him activate his blade.
03:11And up until reshoots, Lucas was coy about giving Jackson the color he wanted.
03:16He clarified,
03:17And when I came back to do reshoots, he said, I'm gonna show you something, it's already
03:20causing a s----storm online, and he had the purple lightsaber, and I was like, yeah!
03:26It's absolutely hilarious that the reason Jackson wanted a purple lightsaber was so
03:29he could spot himself, though he's absolutely right about some of the wide shots in that
03:34scene being just a sea of waving blue and green blades.
03:37But the irony of Lucas pointing to fan backlash as his reason for not wanting to give Jackson
03:41his beloved purple lightsaber is even funnier.
03:45Waving is a potential schism in the Star Wars fandom, and we're glad Lucas didn't buckle
03:49under any online pressure.
03:51Just imagining Windu with a blue or green saber is depressing enough.
03:55When Jackson first asked Lucas about the possibility of getting a purple lightsaber, the Star Wars
03:59creator gave the actor a brief introductory course on who gets what colors.
04:04Jedi were blue and green.
04:05Sith lightsabers were red.
04:07For the most casual of fans, this holds up.
04:10But there are other colors.
04:12Yellow blades have made appearances as well.
04:14More significantly being the color that Rey wielded, and the same used by guards of the
04:18Jedi Temple, white is also a possibility.
04:21Although a newer addition, as it's the shade of Ahsoka Tano's dual blades.
04:26Something fans got a treat seeing in live action during The Mandalorian.
04:30And though Jackson might have the only purple one, that doesn't mean there aren't blades
04:34just as rare.
04:35Another type of saber that's appeared quite a bit across a variety of Star Wars shows
04:39is that of the black-bladed Darksaber, a terrifying weapon that's been wielded by everyone from
04:44Darth Maul to Moff Gideon, as well as everyone's favorite Mando, Din Djarin.
04:50Given how extensive the list is on lightsaber colors, it's no wonder Lucas found room to
04:54give Jackson what he wanted.
04:56Though you have to wonder if it's emboldened every actor playing a Jedi to ask for their
05:00favorite color.
