‘Aghon’ rapidly intensifies into typhoon

As it continues to linger over Quezon province, tropical cyclone “Aghon” (international name: Ewiniar) rapidly intensified into a typhoon on Sunday evening, May 26, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Its maximum sustained winds increased to 120 kilometers per hour (kph) from 100 kph when it was a severe tropical storm, with gusts reaching 180 kph from 150 kph.
