00:00The mass migration of the nation's health care professionals has sadly been the norm over the
00:05last several decades, with greener and better pastures offshore and elsewhere. Oddly enough,
00:12this trend is on the turnaround thanks to government's ramped-up efforts to keep these
00:16homegrown gems that are the industry's gold standard here at home with better pay, perks,
00:22and benefits on the back end. Our Alan Francisco on the details of today's health sector huddle
00:29with the President. Provision of additional health care subsidies, housing, and education
00:36programs for Filipino nurses who choose to work in the country despite more financially rewarding
00:42opportunities abroad. This was stated by Health Secretary Chedoro Herbosa in a press briefing
00:48earlier at Malacanang following their sectoral meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:53Very soon we will announce that we are actually allocating with DBM
00:59money to get health insurance. So there will be a subsidy that will be given,
01:03just a small amount, but it will allow them to get health insurance for themselves and even
01:07their families. So if they already have PhilHealth, they can get health insurance.
01:11The other one I'm doing is trying to provide housing for our health care nurses.
01:15For publicly employed nurses, Herbosa said, they can apply for housing loans through Pag-ibig.
01:21The government is also focused on programs to prevent widespread illnesses among Filipinos.
01:26This includes Bukas Centers or the Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services, which focuses on
01:32the improvement of hospital services and treatment, and particularly on women's health.
01:37The President agreed with the program on
01:40promotive health care. There's also the fact that we also can do prevention, so vaccination,
01:47you own other things that you can do.
01:50The government will also establish health facilities in five island tourist spots,
01:55Coron, El Nido, Siargao, Panglao, and Buracay.
01:59The DOH will also study the implementation of floating clinics in the local governments
02:04in the other islands.
02:05This time we're proposing to have floating clinics in our island LGUs. Your reaction on that, sir?
02:10Yeah, kasi na-announced ko yung mobile clinics that will be
02:14launched soon. So we have the first deliveries of this. Yung mobile clinic may x-ray, may
02:20ultrasound, may hematology, chemistry, and then may sariling generator. Paikuti natin to sa mga
02:27communities. And we procured about 83 of this, and this will be delivered in batches.
02:34Under President Marcos' administration, Secretary Herbosa said state universities
02:39and colleges are producing more medical professionals than ever.
02:43The Department of Health is also focused on the rising cases of HIV,
02:47with the youngest infected being 15 years old.
02:50So I actually had a meeting with Sara, Secretary Sara, kasi we need to educate.
02:55They're more experiment and curious.
02:59Alan Francisco, from the National TV Network, for a new and better Philippines.
