00:10Topped on our stories this evening with disgraced KOJC founder and cult leader Pastor Apolo

00:16Kibuloy in the custody of police and set to face, along with four of his alleged major

00:22cohorts, a plethora of legal raps, its curtains on the pastor and his KOJC look drama.

00:30Nah, not by a long shot.

00:32The PNP Region 11 Command is on the verge of filing sedition charges versus a rowdy

00:38bunch of KOJC followers who tried so hard to get in the way of the search by acts of

00:43harassment, even life-threatening force.

00:46And the PNP does not forget, especially with a sufficient well of videos and still photo

00:52documentation to back up their accusations.

00:56PRO-11 Regional Director Brigadier General Nicolás Torre III said raps are up for those

01:02who intentionally block their way from conducting a search inside the KOJC grounds and premises

01:09on day one of the search on August 25.

01:12Torre III said at least 10 personalities are to be named in the sedition raps, which led

01:18to six cops of the PNP sustaining injuries.

01:22Likewise, General Torre III confirmed and bewailed the inclusion of PNP personnel and

01:27officers tagged as trainers of the KOJC terror group known to bully and blackmail current

01:33and former KOJC members from telling the truth.

01:39In other news, a well-known Pakistani broadcaster and journalist is in the crosshairs of a growing

01:44number of online trolls who mock her looks and competence, and also threaten her with

01:50bodily harm.

01:51This brazen treatment or disrespect for women in media is fast becoming the new normal,

01:57as VOA's Elisabeth Schoeneffer narrates in this report.

02:01From a studio in Islamabad, Nadia Mirza prepares for her show.

02:07A journalist and primetime talk show host at Dawn News, Mirza is a well-known presence

02:12across Pakistan.

02:13She covers her head for religious reasons, but online trolls still attack her appearance

02:18and character.

02:19Whatever we speak or sometimes we post, which is not, you know, which is disliked by some

02:26political party, so they use the word, which pain, which give me pain, which really hurts

02:33me.

02:34Although she takes a scarf, although she takes, you know, a hijab, but her character is not

02:42good.

02:43Covering sensitive issues also draws attackers.

02:46She remembers enduring online abuse after a show a few years ago.

02:50They labeled me that I did something wrong, and I did, you know, blasphemy something,

03:00and I was drunk.

03:01Blasphemy is punishable by death in Pakistan, and even an unfounded accusation can incite

03:06mob violence.

03:07I was getting threats, so my management asked me when I was in Islamabad at that time, my

03:13management asked me just leave Islamabad or just stop doing shows on that.

03:18But Mirza had her guest return to the show to help clear her name.

03:22I put the same question to him.

03:24Did you really find me that I was drunk and I was in some suspicious sort of condition?

03:31He totally denied, and I'm thankful to him that he showed very respect to me, and he

03:38said, no, it's all propaganda.

03:40Media experts say such attacks on female journalists are a global issue.

03:45The root of this issue comes down to women's voices in public spaces and the fact that

03:51there are many people who would like to shut them up, regardless of how they're presenting,

03:57their appearance.

03:58Hoffman says her organization's research has found that online abuse can affect the

04:03well-being of journalists and their ability to work.

04:07A third of women did say they thought about leaving their jobs as journalists, specifically

04:11because of online abuse that they experienced.

04:14Mirza says she is not aware of any training for dealing with online threats.

04:19For now, she tries to ignore the worst of the hate.

04:22I don't respond to trolls.

04:26It's very rare to respond to someone just to correct the fact.

04:30To stop online abuse, media experts say newsrooms should offer better support and tools to help

04:36their journalists.
