00:00Wow, this stroke's going to look terrible.
00:03All right.
00:04I can't imagine because like you don't really know like what to move, right?
00:11So when with the arm lock, you're, you know, like you said, it's glued against you and
00:16you do have to use more shoulders, but like your arm being like almost parallel to the
00:22ground has to be like a very odd feeling for the first time.
00:25Joey, can you pull up a face on so we can kind of see what that looks like from that
00:31angle?
00:32Because I think this is where the really awkward moment is the first time you get there with
00:36that putter because you just don't like what was the first feel that you came up with?
00:40It's like, okay, this is kind of what I'm trying to do here.
00:44I mean, obviously the biggest thing with the broomstick is set up, getting your arm where
00:50you want it to be, ball position, how far you are from the ball, like all that makes
00:54so much of a difference.
00:56It's not like, you know, a regular putter where, you know, your ball position can be
01:03a little off, but you can still roll the ball good.
01:05This is like, you have to be almost perfect to, to set up.
01:10And then once you get the setup, then you got to figure out, okay, what's going to start
01:13the putter back.
01:16And there's, you know, different grip variations and so many different things that you, you
01:20can do.
01:21Um, yeah, it just was, it was such a weird change.
01:27And I think that's kind of what Lucas Glover was saying.
01:29It's so foreign that it's almost a great thing because you're just trying to relearn, um,
01:35yeah.
01:36That's a good system.
01:37That's the good part, right?
01:38Like if you have, if anybody's listening at home, that's struggling with their putting
01:42and they're like, gosh, I can't figure this thing out.
01:45Like I, I think the broomstick is such a unique experience.
01:49It's almost like relearning how to putt for the first time.
01:53Yeah.
01:55And I think the biggest thing that convinced me towards the broomstick was I played with
02:00Lucas Glover in Mexico and he putted unreal.
02:04I play with Adam Scott in Bermuda.
02:06He putts unreal.
02:07And then see what Kim was using a broomstick and he putted unreal.
02:09And I was like, all right, like this is, and to me, like, you know, a lot of people think
02:16it should be banned or, and a lot of people think I anchor it, whatever.
02:20But to me, I think it looks really cool.
02:21I think it's like, when you see Lucas Glover, Adam Scott or Siwu, like when I saw them set
02:26up to it, I was like, dude, this guy just looks like a solid, like he's going to make
02:31some putts.
02:32He's going to make some putts.
02:33I love that.
02:34And so, you know, making that change in December, I still wasn't fully convinced, but they,
02:40they finally sent me like the jailbird, which obviously Ricky and, and Wyndham and Keegan,
02:46like everyone was using and, um, kind of once I got that putter on my hands, I was
02:52like, this is it.
02:53Like, this is the one that I feel like is going to be great.
02:55And I also remember you were watching, you were watching us at Sanderson Farms and, uh,
03:02I had a putt on the 11th hole and you're like, you know, I think he should make this broomstick
03:08change.
03:09And Wags was like, yeah, but you know, he rolls it so good.
03:12And I just, you know, I've rewatched that, that round.
03:15And I remember you saying that, but yeah, it was obviously a big change, but also it's
03:22a cool experience because you get to kind of really dial in everything.
03:26And like I said, relearn, you know, this putting style, um, and going into, you know, century,
03:32it was my first week doing it and I putted great and kind of from then I've had, I pretty
03:38much had, you know, a lot of really solid weeks on the greens and, um, you know, I've
03:43had one or two bad rounds or two bad weeks, but it's just, uh, I don't know.
03:48I feel a lot more comfortable and I also understand like my tendencies now.
03:53Um, okay.
03:54Yeah.
03:55I mean, your stats, your stats are so good.
03:57And we're looking at Wells Fargo putting, uh, from this week as, as we're kind of rolling
04:02these through your, I mean, your stats speak for itself.
04:05Putting inside at 10 feet this year, 90% you're 17 putting, I mean, is your stats are just
04:11so good with the putting, with how good you hit it.
04:14I mean, you're going to find yourself in contention so often now.
04:18Yeah, I, uh, yeah, I did a podcast with, uh, Dan Rappaport and he was, what was a bit what
04:26he was asking, you know, what's the biggest thing for you to kind of get to the next level
04:29or to win golf?
04:30So when I said putting and, um, you know, unfortunately I've, I've, you know, I've always
04:35worked really hard, especially on putting and always looked up to Jason day because
04:39he worked so hard.
04:40He has one of the best strokes I think ever in the world.
04:43And he obviously went through that period of time where he didn't miss, but I've always
04:47worked really hard, but now I feel like I have my kind of my checklist every day.
04:52And, um, you know, I feel like if I get that done and I'm really consistent, like I'm just
04:56never going to have many bad putting weeks.
04:59And I feel like that's kind of what the broom can produce.
05:02You know, you're never going to have really bad putting weeks.
05:04You might not have great days, but you'll still have days where the hole looks like
05:08a bucket.
