00:00Hello. The rather mixed meteorological May will continue right through the long weekend.
00:06Certainly, we've seen some pretty wet weather over recent days and we've seen some heavy
00:11thundery downpours tracking up from France, Belgium, and particularly the Netherlands,
00:16bringing some heavy downpours earlier today over parts of East Anglia and Lincolnshire,
00:20some flashes of lightning, rumbles of thunder. That's all heading into parts of Yorkshire
00:24and towards the Midlands. I think we'll lose some of the thunderstorms, but nevertheless,
00:28some heavy downpours here. Could see some thundery showers over parts of north-west
00:32England and south-west Scotland too. Staying pretty dull and damp for Wales, much of the
00:36Midlands and East Anglia, further rain here. But in the far south of England, it's a bit
00:39brighter than yesterday, some sunny spells poking through, but it's definitely central
00:44and northern Scotland seeing the lion's share of the blue sky. Another cracking day, particularly
00:49western Scotland, where temperatures getting up to 22, maybe 23 Celsius. Compare and contrast
00:55under that dull and damp weather over the Midlands, struggling to even get into the
00:59teens. Now, wet weather will continue to track its way slowly northwards and will bring some
01:05showery rain to Northern Ireland overnight, extending more into southern Scotland, turning
01:10a bit drier maybe over the Midlands. Certainly, the rain expected to clear through the night
01:14from East Anglia and much of the south will have some decent clear spells, which will
01:18allow temperatures to tumble, bringing a chilly start to the long weekends, four or five degrees
01:23in some rural spots, maybe even a touch lower. But the cloud and the rain will keep the temperatures
01:27up over northern England, much of Wales, Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. It does mean
01:32for a pretty drab start to the long weekend here and many places in this central zone
01:37will stay grey with rain on and off for most of Saturday. The rain should tend to ease
01:42off a little bit, parts of north-east England turning a little drier. Certainly, a brighter
01:46day across the Midlands and south Wales tomorrow compared to today. Much of southern England,
01:51East Anglia having sunny spells for most of Saturday, maybe just one or two showers into
01:56the far south-east later on. Yet again, the Western Highlands and the Western Isles doing
02:00pretty well for sunshine, maybe a lot of mist and har at times around the coast of north-east
02:06Scotland up towards the Northern Isles and that will keep the temperatures down. The
02:09cloud and the outbreaks of rain will keep the temperatures down over southern Scotland,
02:13Northern Ireland and northern England. But a warmer feel for East Anglia and the Midlands
02:17tomorrow, 17, 18 degrees. Again, the north-west may get up to 17 or 18 in one or two places
02:23as well. So, we'll continue with that mixed weather as we go through Saturday and that
02:28will continue likely during Sunday and Monday. We'll keep the cloud and the outbreaks of
02:33rain on and off into Saturday evening further south, mostly fine. But notice down to the
02:37far south-west, the threat of thickening cloud and outbreaks of rain, that's from this area
02:42of low pressure. Still some uncertainty about just how that's going to track its way northwards.
02:47This weather front close to the south, the far south on Monday could bring some more
02:51persistent rain here. But generally speaking, with low pressure nearby, it's going to be
02:56a mixture of sunshine and showers this weekend. So, there will be at times some pleasant warm
03:02sunshine probably brightening up across the north Sunday and Monday as well. But always
03:06the threat of some showers never too far away as well. Please do keep up to date with the
03:11forecast as we go through this long weekend. Best way to do that, of course, following
