00:00 Nick, L. O. K. C. Thunder dot com. Mark just want to ask you another crunch time opportunity for your guys. Just your thoughts about going toe to toe with a lot of veterans on that group.
00:11 Yeah, you know, I thought we did a good job of wasn't our best day I thought we were really kind of strong and then the close to the first half and the beginning of the second half, you know, certainly is not the way we want to play.
00:26 But I thought we did a good job of kind of regrouping we went down by 10, nothing seemed to be happening in that second group went in there and really kind of was feisty and got us back in the game and gave us some life and kind of turn the game
00:38 and gave us a chance down there down the stretch.
00:41 And we just got to, you know, continue to focus on our execution both ends of the court, you know, close games that comes down to possessions it comes down to details.
00:50 You know, there's a lot of random things but there's a lot of things you can control. And, you know, we got to just be a little bit better obviously with the things we can control in order to get, you know, some of these past games.
01:06 Was a part of you.
01:08 You have poke who in about the five, six minute mark that you thought about letting him close and a couple of turnovers put base back and were you thinking about letting him close out the game for you.
01:17 Earlier on I was, you know, I considered it, I didn't think I let him play through some stuff to which I think he's earned with, you know, the way that he's kind of hung in there you know I've, I've coached him hard this season so far.
01:32 But, you know, I thought at that point, you know, it was give Bays another shot I'd given all those other guys another shot I got all of them off pretty early.
01:39 He was the last guy to go back and then I thought he responded pretty well, he got quick five points for us.
01:45 You know, and got himself back into the moment of the game so. But yeah, I mean I was on a night like tonight I was just looking for, you know, who was going to be playing and who could give us the best chance to go and get that game.
02:00 Joe Masato the Oklahoman, Mark.
02:03 Can you take us through that final sequence, deciding to call a timeout rather than just letting shake go and also where you guys wanting more time on the clock.
02:12 Yeah, I was trying to get them to look at, well first they granted me the timeout, and they went back and change that, and then was hoping to get more time on the clock.
02:21 Just for full clarity in those situations I tell the players, you get a rebound, just bust it out and go, and if I want the timeout I'll interrupt it.
02:31 And so if anybody's to blame on that one that's me that's not him at all.
02:35 You know I was late calling it, I was trying to figure out, you know what our numbers look like, and was just late to pull the trigger same thing happened in the Los Angeles game last year really similar situation, basically got a rebound busted out I was late on
02:48 that one so those ones around me. It's just the risk that I take in calling it a little later to see what the court looks like.
02:55 But he didn't do anything wrong and that play to be perfectly clear that was on me.
02:59 What sort of did you see that made you, I know it didn't come as early as you wanted to but what would you see that made you call the time. I didn't think we had numbers, you know just didn't think the floor looked, you know, I'm usually on the rise
03:10 shot I'm looking at the floor, and then trying to figure out, you know, if we're going to have numbers, and by the time I got back to it he'd already taken a dribble but again to be clear I tell that I mean we cover that situation.
03:21 And I tell the guys if you get a rebound in that situation. Go, and I'll interrupt you if I want it so I didn't interrupt it fast enough that's why we had it on the side there. And then out of that timeout what do you think of the final look.
03:32 I think we were playing decent, you know, in that situation.
03:36 You know, we're looking potentially to throw it to Lou, if he had, you know, the guy on his back we didn't say made a good break to get the ball, you know, obviously the thing was halfway down.
03:45 So, I thought we executed that in the play before that out of the timeout, we, we weren't all bad execution wise we just got to learn the lessons and just get a little bit better.
03:53 Paris Lawson okc thunder.com Shays first game back and really had a really strong first quarter especially seemed like it showed a lot of balance and attacking and facilitating, just your thoughts on his performance tonight.
04:04 Yeah, I thought he had a good four game tonight, you know, had a really good balance as you said about attacking, and, you know, facilitating taken with the defense gives.
04:13 And I thought because he did that he got some cracks you know there were some plays in the second half where he was just clean downhill at the front of the rim and I think he established that with kind of his ball movement, you know, even the last
04:24 basically three. He found bays on Josh get he got a good look that he found him on late.
04:30 And so, you know, he just needs the hardest thing for all these guys is the balance between aggressiveness and individual confidence and then inside the team, and for him especially that's been something that's been ongoing because he's so talented.
04:44 And I thought he had a really really clean balance tonight played really well.
04:49 Christine Butterfield on a 77 the franchise, Darius basically kind of had a bad shooting night for most of the game and then he comes in the last five minutes and makes that bucket and then a consecutive play he makes that big three.
05:00 What does it mean seeing that confidence come out of him despite having that bad shooting night, originally. Yeah, I was, you know, that was impressive, and, you know, it's a long season and the games are long, and there's a lot of ups and downs.
05:13 And so being able to plant your feet back on the ground and just get back to the individual moment, or zero and zero is an MBA skill, you know if you don't have that, then it's really really hard to weather all the emotional storms that competition
05:28 brings, and that's especially.
05:31 It's a skill that needs to be learned with a young team because they just haven't gone through every experience yet. And we have players that I think are doing a nice job of that and I thought, you know, that was an example tonight he didn't play particularly well
05:42 and our team didn't play particularly well for, you know, good stretch at the end of the first half and into the third quarter, and we kind of dusted off and regrouped and gave ourselves kind of a second wind and a second chance to try to get that game and
05:54 obviously we're a player away.
05:56 I know it's very soon after the end of the game but do you have any more info on Ken Rich ankle.
06:03 I'm assuming it's a spring, I don't know that but he got it pretty good because Donnie ruled him out like on the spot, you know, so when it's when it's like that, you know, it's usually not something like, so I would expect them to miss some time not sure you
06:17 know he'll get evaluated after the game and then again tomorrow.
06:25 Yeah, coach on with 129 left, and when she got out it looked like coos hit Shay in the face and it also looked like it could have been a possible clear path out long were you trying to get a review on either of those and then were you denied.
06:43 Yeah, I was, I was trying to get a review on the hit to the face, more than I don't think there's a clear path I thought there was a secondary defender in front of Shay on that play.
06:54 But anytime there's a hit to the head.
06:57 They should be looking at that. And I thought the ref was stacked behind the play and the angle that I had I thought he got hit pretty good and he was reacting like he got hit pretty good so I was trying to get him to review it yeah that's the answer.
07:11 Thank you.
07:12 Thank you.
