00:00Nick Gallo, kcthunder.com Josh, the game seemed to kind of just have ebbs and flows to it.
00:07Your thoughts on on trying to catch a rhythm and the ability to do so after you've had
00:12a little bit of a lull.
00:13Yeah, it was like that, you know, back and forth all game, we had our runs, they had
00:17their runs.
00:18And I think we did a good job.
00:19I think we're down 10 in the last quarter at a point and we pulled back and I think
00:23we tied the game, we're down two or something like that.
00:25So you know, we fought hard, we played hard all game and I think either team could have
00:29won that game, came down to, you know, the last second, which I think was probably right
00:33in that game.
00:34I think no team stood out to dominate the game.
00:36I think it was back and forth all night.
00:38So I think we fought hard, but I'm just going to close it out.
00:45You guys had a lot of close games.
00:49You didn't get over that hump.
00:52Are you still learning some things, how to close these out, even though you're not, you
00:55know, getting wins in these situations?
00:56Yeah, for sure.
00:57I mean, we've been in a lot of these situations where it's a tight late game, you know, it's
01:02a one, two point game going into the fourth and we've just lost, you know, it's happened
01:06multiple times, but I've said it before, but it's something we're going to learn over time
01:09with experience, how to close out late games, how to manage late game situations.
01:13I think we're still learning.
01:14The more we play in those situations, the better we're going to get at it.
01:17So, you know, we haven't succeeded in it, you know, as of late, but we're right there.
01:22It's a young team.
01:23So the more we play and grow and learn together, we're going to improve in those late game
01:27situations.
01:28Yeah.
01:29Paris Lawson, OKC Thunder.com.
01:30The offense is really moving for you guys in that, especially in that early in that
01:36first half.
01:37What was working so well that you guys found that rhythm early?
01:39I think we moved the ball.
01:41We made them move on defense.
01:42We got the looks.
01:43We took open shots.
01:44And I think a lot of our offense is generated through ball movement.
01:45We got off the boards and pushing transition.
01:46I think that's more at our best when we're just playing and flowing, moving the ball
01:47side to side.
01:48So I think first off, I saw a lot of that.
01:49I've actually seen a lot of that.
01:50I've seen a lot of that.
01:51I've seen a lot of that.
01:52I've seen a lot of that.
01:53I've seen a lot of that.
01:54I've seen a lot of that.
01:55So I think first of all, I saw a lot of that.
01:56I don't think we changed too much in the second half.
01:57It was just they picked their feet up a little bit more.
01:58So we're up 10 in that second quarter.
01:59And they cut it back and cut up two going into the half.
02:00So just closing that in half, just like we'd like to close that late game.
02:01Some of us are still going to build on that.
02:02Anything on Zell?
02:03Coach called a quick time out at the beginning of the third quarter.
02:04The slow start is kind of talk about that.
02:05cut it back and cut off two going into the half.
02:06So, just closing that in the half,
02:08just like we'd like to close out late game,
02:10so we're just going to build on it.
02:20Coach called a quick timeout
02:21at the beginning of the third quarter.
02:23The slow start, kind of talk about that
02:25and how you guys can stop doing that.
02:28Yeah, it's been a bit of a common theme with that group.
02:31You know, usually it's the opposite.
02:32Usually it's, you know, we come out the gate slow,
02:34but this time we came out third quarter a bit sloppy
02:36and, you know, Coach called a timeout riser.
02:38So, you know, it gave us a little spark
02:40and I think we're good off of that.
02:41But, you know, it's something we've addressed before.
02:43I mean, starting the games have been slow for us.
02:45So, we've usually been good in the second halves,
02:48chasing from behind, but I think tonight was the opposite.
02:50We came out the gates pretty well
02:52and sloppy in that third quarter.
02:53So, just, you know, starting both halves good
02:55and, you know, continuing that throughout the game.
02:59Joe Masato of The Oklahoman.
03:00Josh, not related to this game specifically,
03:03but just your size as a point guard,
03:06how much, what effect does that have on you as a passer?
03:10You talked about your instincts, your vision,
03:13but how do you sort of rank your size
03:15as far as that helping you?
03:17Yeah, well, I mean, it helps in terms of just being able
03:20to stay with the defense because a lot of the times,
03:21you know, the guy guiding me is going to be small with me.
03:24So, coming off pick and rolls, if he's got his arms up,
03:26usually I'm able to stay around and go over it.
03:28So, that helps in that sense.
03:29And also rebounding is a big part of it for me.
03:32I get on the ball, sorry, you know,
03:35get a push in transition.
03:36So, you know, being a taller guard is an advantage.
03:38I'm sure every other tall guy can take the same thing.
03:40So, it helps a lot.
03:42And, you know, I mean, it gives you that little extra advantage
03:44on small things like that.
03:46Thanks.
03:49Christos Soltis, go ahead, Christos.
03:52Hey, Josh, hope you're doing well.
03:53Those type of games, how will it help you guys
03:56despite the outcome to forgo development as a group?
04:02It's a tough one.
04:03I mean, these are the games we've got to close out and win.
04:05You know, and I said earlier that we've been in a lot of these
04:07and we're going to learn over time
04:09how to close out late games.
04:10And although it hurts now, you know,
04:13to lose these tight ones, you know, we'll grow from it.
04:16We've got practice tomorrow.
04:17So, the good thing about the NBA is you can't dwell on one game.
04:20We've got a game in two nights.
04:21So, learn from this, watch the film, review it,
04:24and then we're straight into another game.
04:25So, you know, it stings at the time.
04:28But, you know, the good thing about the league is,
04:30you know, you've got to move on quick.
04:31And you can't sit on one game for a while
04:33because there's new ones coming up.
04:34And you've got to learn from it.
04:35And I think we will.
04:37We've got a good group of guys who, you know,
04:38put in the back of their minds after it's done.
04:40And, you know, we've got a clean slate
04:42in two nights in Houston.
04:45Anything else?
04:46Thank you, Josh.
04:47Thank you.
