00:00 Um, a lot of it was defense. You know, we got our D into the game. Um, there
00:05 was a couple stretches there. The start of the third certainly. And then
00:10 there was a stretch in the fourth where we're kind of scoring with them, you
00:12 know, stay in the game. But our defense was really behind the ball. You know,
00:16 credit them. They do a really good job once they gain advantages. You know,
00:19 Donchik, um, gets the initial advantage, but those other guys do a really good
00:23 job of playing once the ball comes out to them. And, uh, you know, they had us
00:28 behind the ball in those stretches. But when we locked our defense in in the
00:31 middle of the third and then late in the fourth there, we gave ourselves a
00:35 really good chance tonight and overall in totality, we guarded him pretty well.
00:38 Um, so a lot of good things from the game.
00:41 Yeah, he was good. Um, obviously, you know, I thought he played with great
00:50 pace tonight. He didn't hold the ball very much at all. And I thought, you
00:53 know, they were double teaming him on a lot of catches and a lot of times
00:56 before the double could get to him, he was already attacking. And that's, you
01:00 know, the value of, um, playing faster, you know, and not holding it. If you
01:04 hold it and team wants to W, then you're gonna be just fighting double
01:08 teams all night. So I thought his pace was really good. Um, he obviously got
01:12 it really going during that run in the third quarter, did a nice job there. Um,
01:16 and we just got to continue to learn how to attack how he's gonna get played
01:19 because obviously I thought they were as sold out on him defensively, uh, as
01:24 anybody's been all year.
01:25 I was gonna ask if they were tracking up really high. Yeah, surprising things.
01:31 They don't mean
01:32 how do you notice touch a poise to deal with those things that they come at
01:38 them one after the other? Uh, good poise. And, um, he's always got that. I
01:43 thought he made a lot of good plays tonight on kickouts. He found open guys
01:47 on the perimeter. And then, you know, it's a testament for him to score a
01:52 pretty, I think, efficient. Um, yeah, an efficient 34 on when he's getting
01:58 guarded like that, to me is is an indicator that he's learning how to
02:02 find his cracks, you know, in the areas of the game where it's hard to load up
02:06 on them, which are in transition and inside of actions. And I thought he did
02:10 a nice job of that tonight, and it's it yielded a really efficient, good
02:14 scoring night for him, even though the defense was obviously trying to make
02:18 sure he didn't do that.
02:19 Game 30 for straight man.
02:22 Yeah,
02:23 like 29
02:25 college season. Yep.
02:27 Crunch time.
02:30 Yeah, started in the second half to, you know, we get a lot of faith in him.
02:37 He's a good player, and he's been competing better and better on the
02:41 defensive end, which allows us to play him in more and more situations, you
02:45 know, and so, um, start the second half. You know, he's got Brunson or Finney
02:49 Smith and, um, then down the stretch, you know, he's guarding, I think, hard
02:53 away. You know, those are real matchups. Those are really tough covers. And, um,
02:57 when you give the type of effort that he's starting to give, then it gives us
03:00 confidence. We can put him in those spots.
03:02 Uh, play. We ran, um, against New Orleans. The shot before Graham made
03:10 the shot. The one she made the three on, um, you know, just an end of game play
03:15 that we run. It's got multiple options. Got tie along the baseline, then a flare
03:20 from a scholar and then shape popping to the top of the key. And Josh has the
03:23 option to, you know, it's a progression. He's looking time. The
03:26 scholar then, Shay,
03:27 uh, yeah, they defended it. Well, give him credit, you know, but I thought,
03:41 you know, end of game execution. I thought it was actually pretty good
03:44 tonight in terms of just getting ourselves to a one possession game,
03:47 you know, after being down for a couple times, you know, I thought we showed
03:51 good poise there. Um, you know, first of all, going full court, the three that
03:56 time made that was good execution by Shay and tie and then to get up in the
04:00 press as fast as we did and to foul green as quickly as we did to keep some
04:05 time on the clock. It's obviously a guy we want to foul, you know, if the other
04:09 options are Donchik and hard away and those guys free throw a block out time
04:13 out on a rebound, you know, to advance the ball late there. So, you know, it's
04:17 hard to give yourself a chance to tie when you're down four with eight
04:20 seconds to go. And I thought we did a great job of putting ourselves in a
04:23 spot where we could take a crack at it.
04:25 Especially in the first half, you guys didn't shoot as well at the rim, but
04:31 that really was there in the second half. Did you see anything change or
04:34 just attacking for you? Maybe I thought we were playing more out of rotations
04:39 in the second half. I thought in the first half, um, there were a couple
04:42 stretches, you know, second quarter and then late second quarter, especially
04:46 and then started the third where the offense was a little bit slow. We're
04:51 just trying to jam it in there against a long team that, you know, is help
04:54 oriented. And then once we started, you know, gain initial advantage, moving it
04:59 out of the advantage and then really getting the ball ahead of the defense,
05:02 we're able to kind of play driving kick. And then, you know, you've got
05:05 that team running at you and running to their help spots. And I thought that's
05:09 what gave us our cracks more so than attacking, you know, just Porzingis. I
05:12 thought it was more a byproduct of style. And, you know, we're moving in
05:17 the right direction there. You know, we're having longer and longer
05:20 stretches of the game where we're playing that way. It's obviously not
05:23 like our, you know, habit and 100% style yet. But, um, these last few
05:29 games, we've certainly had more minutes that we've played that way than not.
05:35 Wanted to carry it. And also, you
05:38 like what? Was that because Cleaver was
05:42 are we gonna do that?
05:44 I thought Cleaver started the second half. Didn't he? They subbed him
05:49 because we were small, you know, so we started Trey man and they sub Cleaver
05:53 within a minute because we we downsized. Um, it was more like I've said before,
05:58 I think, you know, coming out of halftime, switching lineups is a it's
06:02 like a substitution. And I think it's just kind of a norm for everybody to
06:06 start their starters. And I think there's sometimes opportunities there.
06:09 I thought to finish the second quarter, we were just really congested. And I
06:14 thought getting Trey out there and trying to give us a little more
06:17 shooting was a good idea. So it had less to do with the five and I have
06:20 more to do with just trying to get one more, you know, threat out there. But,
06:24 um, you know, wasn't as effective tonight, obviously coming out of that
06:28 stretched as it was the other night.
06:30 Like down
06:31 45
06:33 going to that.
06:35 Is that like
06:37 to just take the time to talk about
06:40 more of a motivational, like what's happening?
06:46 Bigger picture.
06:48 I can't time out. What do you what are you focused on? Uh, I mean, mostly like
06:56 just execution, to be honest with you, you know, like that stretch leading
06:59 into that time out, we weren't executing, you know, and we were just
07:03 allowing them to get rhythm shots and they were just getting whatever they
07:06 wanted defensively, especially and, um, you know, just reset team and get
07:12 everybody back focused on, you know, what we can control in the way that we
07:16 want to play and on both ends of the floor and then allowing that to yield,
07:22 you know, whatever the score is. But when we talk about 48 minute games is
07:26 less about playing the scoreboard and it's more about committing to a certain
07:29 way of playing for 48 minutes and allowing that to yield whatever outcome
07:33 it does. And I thought to our guys credit, we got back to those things on
07:36 both ends of the floor and that's what created the opportunity to come back.
07:39 Anybody else in the room? We got one question on zoom. Daniel Bell. Go ahead
07:44 with your question, please. Yeah, Coach. Um, I know base didn't shoot the ball
07:49 particularly well, but can you talk about how you thought what you thought
07:53 of his performance? Come back into the starting lineup.
07:55 I mean, we did it for poor Zingas. You know, I thought he was pretty effective
08:01 there, especially in the areas of the game. You know, like when they try to
08:04 I so him, you know, I didn't think poor Zingas was creating a lot of their
08:08 offense tonight and I thought base had something to do with that. So I thought
08:11 he did a nice job there. Um, and then obviously just I thought Wiggins, you
08:16 know, to give us another perimeter defender was the way to go down the
08:19 stretch. He was doing a really good job on Brunson and he was switching at
08:22 times onto Don Chich and did a good job there. I thought he gave us really good
08:26 reps defensively and so I decided to go with him down the stretch there.
08:29 No, no, no.
08:32 All right, thanks.
