00:00 I couldn't ask for a better, like, experience.
00:03 You know, I came in today to work out,
00:07 and I liked the gym.
00:09 Like, as soon as I walked in, it was, like, dark in the stands,
00:12 but it was light on the court.
00:14 When I asked DA, I was like,
00:15 "Is it going to be like this for the game?"
00:17 He was like, "Yeah." I was like, "I love it like this."
00:18 And, you know, it was a good game.
00:20 I'm just happy that we came out on top.
00:21 First time in Madison Square Garden.
00:23 It was -- couldn't ask for a better outcome, honestly.
00:26 You got going pretty early.
00:27 Josh found you for a couple of threes.
00:30 What was that rhythm like that you guys had out there?
00:33 Josh always finds me for threes.
00:35 It's just if I'm knocking him down or not.
00:37 And tonight, I was knocking him down early,
00:39 so I just told myself that I was going to keep going.
00:41 I was going to keep shooting because the last couple games,
00:44 it was tough for me shooting-wise.
00:46 So I just -- Oh, I shot the lights out.
00:48 Look at that.
00:50 But, yeah, like I was saying --
00:55 What was I saying?
00:59 Oh, yeah.
01:01 Yeah, I just told myself I was going to stay aggressive
01:03 because I was making shots earlier in the game,
01:05 and it wasn't going my way the past couple games,
01:07 so I had to take advantage of it.
01:10 That's pretty aggressive defensively.
01:11 You guys are already trying to pick up.
01:13 That's pretty aggressive.
01:14 Were you feeling that out there, and how was that?
01:15 Did you have to attack that throughout the game?
01:17 Yeah, they were aggressive.
01:19 They were trying to blow up ball screens
01:21 and not, like, be physical.
01:23 And we've seen it before.
01:25 A couple other teams play like that.
01:27 So it wasn't really nothing we haven't seen before
01:29 as far as, you know, being physical,
01:31 trying to blow up screens, trying to top-lock screens,
01:34 which is, like, not let us go to the screen.
01:36 So it was nothing we haven't seen before.
01:38 We just, you know, played our game
01:40 and just stuck with, you know, the game plan.
01:44 Trey, Simon Ward talked about being lost in the competition.
01:50 Can you pick up on some of the characteristics of that?
01:54 What's that feel like when all five of you
01:57 are trying to snowball that way?
02:00 It's the best feeling, honestly.
02:02 I mean, when you know you at war
02:04 and you got four other guys with you that's at war,
02:07 and you know they're going to, you know, fight for you.
02:09 Like, it's no better feeling than that.
02:12 And that's what it felt like tonight,
02:15 especially in overtime.
02:16 I felt like we were scrappy, aggressive,
02:20 and we just wanted to win, like, and it was a great feeling.
02:24 It is after that tie-up with Mr. Robinson,
02:27 you just see, like, the fire in his eyes.
02:30 Does it become, like, a bit of, like,
02:32 an emotional meter out there for you all?
02:34 Or not necessarily just words or anything,
02:37 but just kind of that fire?
02:39 Yeah, for sure. I mean, like, that play,
02:41 like, I was laughing. Like, I was laughing.
02:43 Not at him, but with him.
02:44 Like, I could tell that he was in that mode.
02:47 Like, he was talking, like, grabbed the ball.
02:50 You know, he was saying, "It's our ball."
02:51 And, like, I -- you know, that lit me up,
02:53 like, immediately on the defensive end.
02:55 He was telling me, like, "One more stop.
02:57 One more stop. Let's do this. Let's do that."
03:00 And, like, that play when he grabbed the ball
03:02 and he was holding it, saying, "It's our ball.
03:03 It's my ball," and stuff like that,
03:05 that got me going for sure, like, for defense.
03:08 Great.
03:09 [Indistinct]
03:19 Yeah, I mean, everybody say it is, like,
03:22 one of the biggest stages,
03:23 like, one of the biggest arenas in the NBA.
03:26 So, like I said, I couldn't ask for a better outcome.
03:29 I had 30 my career high, and we got the win.
03:33 Like, in overtime, it was a great day for me and for my team.
03:37 Just from that moment, you left, and then,
03:39 it seems like you guys have to get trying together.
03:42 What's that relationship like?
03:47 I mean, honestly, I feel like that's what it's about,
03:48 you know, having fun with it.
03:49 It's a job, but at the end of the day,
03:51 you still got to have fun.
03:52 Like, basketball is supposed to be fun,
03:54 and that's what we do on the basketball court,
03:55 me and him have fun.
03:57 You know, we have our moments in the game
03:59 where coach say, like, you know,
04:01 "Trey, you're going to go back door,"
04:02 and me and Josh look at each other like,
04:03 "This could be a dunk, alley-oop."
04:05 Like, we have our moments,
04:06 and, like, off the court, you know, we talk a little bit,
04:09 talk about basketball.
04:12 You know, he's just a great guy, and, you know, that's really it.
04:18 Hey, what's going on, Trey?
04:28 You're not overly tall,
04:31 but you create an unusual amount of space on your step back.
04:34 Is there something, like, different that you're doing
04:36 than other guards that creates more space?
04:41 I feel like it's just my, you know,
04:47 my ability to read defenders.
04:49 Like, I try to go off of what they do.
04:51 Like, if somebody is on me hard,
04:53 and they're trying to be aggressive,
04:54 trying to cut off angles and stuff like that,
04:56 I try to use that to my advantage.
04:58 My body, you know, my feet, knees, ankles, everything.
05:02 I don't know what or how we do it,
05:04 but step backs and stuff like that.
05:05 It's just I give credit to my body,
05:08 just being able to take those hard stops,
05:10 and, you know, I just try to use that to my advantage.
05:14 Thank you.
05:16 Yeah, Trey, you're now one of 35 rookies
05:23 to ever have a 30-point game at Madison Square Garden
05:27 on a list that includes Michael Jordan,
05:29 Kareem, KD, Iverson.
05:32 Like, it's on the lead list.
05:34 How does that make you feel about being,
05:37 like, in a league-rare company?
05:41 I mean, that's crazy.
05:43 I didn't even know it until you said it just now.
05:45 I mean, that's crazy.
05:46 Those are all guys that I watched growing up.
05:48 My dad, you know, Allen Iverson, Michael Jordan,
05:51 them was his favorite players.
05:52 You know, that's who I watched
05:54 because they was my dad's favorite players,
05:55 and it's just crazy that my name
05:57 is being mentioned with them now.
05:59 Like, it's -- I don't know.
06:02 It's surreal. It's just crazy.
06:04 Hey, Trey, great game, great performance tonight for you.
06:14 That performance, that 30-point game for you,
06:16 what does it mean? What do you prove?
06:18 What do you prove with your performance tonight?
06:23 Just my ability to stay with it.
06:27 You know, it could have been hard.
06:28 I could have, you know, been down
06:31 from my last couple of games,
06:32 how I wasn't shooting the way I wanted to shoot.
06:35 But I just stayed with it. I trusted my work.
06:38 I went out there confident,
06:40 stayed confident throughout the whole game.
06:42 And I just think it showed, like,
06:44 my ability to stay with it and go out there
06:48 and don't even think, like, when I play basketball.
06:51 So that's all I did.
06:52 Went out there trying to compete, trying to win.
06:55 And I found a group early, so.
