00:00Obviously the thing on everyone's mind today is that the trade deadline is quickly approaching
00:05and Coach Dagnott reviewed his process that he goes through as a coach when dealing with trades.
00:10He's done this a long time. He's got a great balance with me and the coach on
00:18being informative where I'm not like in the dark, you know, like I'm aware of, you know, broadly
00:25without like giving me the play-by-play because obviously it's not my job, you know,
00:29like those guys are working on it around the clock right now. They're on the play-by-play
00:33with it. I'm not, you know, and so he does a great job of like keeping me abreast of what's going on
00:40and if something gets close he'll make me aware but, you know, it's not like an all-encompassing
00:46thing, you know, like I'm focused on the team and developing the guys and stuff like that.
00:51He allows that space also. Since this is such a young team there are a lot of players on the
00:55Thunders roster including four rookies that are dealing with the trade line for the very first
01:00time. Trayman gave his thoughts towards the trade deadline today. I try not to think about it too
01:05much. I just usually see it like on TV or on my phone so I mean I think it's crazy but I
01:12I gotta remember like it's a business like people get traded like it happens but I try not to think
01:17about it too much especially my first year. I'm just worried about getting better right now.
01:21Coach Dagnall also gave his opinion about the trade deadline hype and, spoiler alert, it's a
01:27lot like his opinion of Twitter. I think all the hoopla is just like, you know, the world we live
01:32in. It's just like a 24-hour news cycle and, you know, if you it just gives you stimulus for, you
01:37know, two days to be able to talk about the rumors and, you know, what teams should do and grading.
01:43I love the grades. The grades are the best. Yeah, I mean, no, I don't read the grades but I love
01:49I love the concept of the grades, you know. It's like nothing's happened, you know, like you've
01:53traded the player, you haven't even seen him in a uniform yet and we're just going to grade it
01:57right now. Like in the we're not going to let it bear out over any period of time. Like forget about
02:02being long-sighted. It's not even being short-sighted. It's like before sighted, you know.
02:06It's like it's a B plus for the for this team, you know. I pay attention to the extent in the
02:13team-building aspect of it. I mean, it's interesting to see where what direction teams
02:18are going. I think, you know, actions speak louder than words and so you can kind of see
02:22strategically where teams are headed. Bringing it back to Oklahoma City though, the Thunder lost to
02:27the Warriors last night but both teams' defenses held strong. Coach Dagnalt has been begging
02:33Draymond to have an automatic shooting arm along with working on his defense but Dagnalt said that
02:38he has definitely seen some improvements. Getting there, you know. He's done a really nice job and
02:44to the point now where like I'm letting him play through some stuff like he had one last night
02:50where he was just late to a rotation which happens, you know, like because he needs to get better at
02:55it doesn't mean he has to be perfect but the way that we handled him up until this point was to
03:00try to generate that level of awareness so now he's in the game and when he makes a mistake he
03:05immediately will acknowledge it. You know, he'll look over and he'll be like, which gives you some
03:09confidence that okay he knows what's right and wrong and now he's just got to execute it better
03:15and better over time but the first step to that is awareness and not a lot of guys come in with
03:20that level of awareness and so I think he's definitely at that point it makes it it gives
03:25me a lot of confidence to let him play through some of that stuff even when he's not perfect
03:28like I said. Every player on the Warriors team is so difficult to guard because each player
03:34themselves can be a scoring threat yet Treyman had one of the most difficult matchups of the
03:39entire night, Steph Curry. Treyman gave his perspective on that defensive matchup today.
03:44It's cool and everything but like I don't even really think about it like I'm just out there
03:48trying to play hard make those plays but I didn't even know I had three steals until you just said
03:53it so I mean it's cool it just showed that I'm not really like just talking I'm out there actually
03:58trying to get those plays into the game and stuff like that so I mean I'm good I'm glad that the
04:03staffs are there to back it up but I don't really think about it too much. As of right now there
04:08have been no trades with Oklahoma City involved but much is yet to come and that concludes the
04:14Thunder practice report. 44 SI Thunder, I'm Christine Butterfield.
