00:00 like best kind of about that second quarter flurry and then maybe what wasn't quite there for you in
00:05 the in the second half and fourth quarter even knowing they're they're one of the best fourth
00:09 quarter teams in the league yeah um so i mean first quarter our first unit was bad um defensively we
00:16 were slow we're you know a step behind them offensively we looked all right we didn't make
00:20 a lot of shots but um it was that second unit that come in and gave us that spark off the bench you
00:24 know the end of the first start of the second and they they got us back in that game it was
00:28 we're down i think 20 at one point um that second unit really brought it back um the energy they
00:33 brought you know guys like v and the rest of that crew you know really picked it up for us so
00:37 we weathered the storm into the half but then as we said when you know trey behind the back of
00:42 poke that dunk we got it back to full six point game and then um after that they scored 30 something
00:47 points so uh that can't happen in an eight minute span to let a team score 30 it's gonna be very
00:51 very hard to win so um you know finishing our games as i've always said you know something
00:56 we've got to continue to get better at and um you know that was one of the best teams to lead
00:59 tonight that they put on a clinic in that last eight minutes. Paris Lawson, okcthunder.com just
01:04 kind of expanding on that a little bit you mentioned that the defense in that second
01:08 quarter the second unit sparked it just what changed in that regard that allowed you guys
01:12 to kind of get back into the game? Yeah they brought it i mean our first unit you know energy
01:16 was down uh we were late as i said we're a step behind everything and when our second unit came
01:20 in um they were really they were ready to go um you know they made they make tough shots shoot
01:25 tough shots they were in shells um you know kind of executing the scout a lot better than our first
01:29 unit was so um if our first unit could have done that from the start i think it would have put us
01:33 in great stead to you know be competitive the whole way you know the whole 48 minutes but um
01:38 slow start from our first group um but that second year really saved us in that second quarter.
01:42 And you go up against a team like like Phoenix and the film from this can be really beneficial
01:46 just what are some of the things that you can take away from going up against a team where you do
01:50 have to be you know as sharp as you need to be for a full 48 minutes like that? I think it's just
01:54 you know identifying when the game's slipping away in that last you know eight minutes when
01:58 they went on that run kind of getting good shots slowing the game back down and getting it back on
02:02 our terms i think we kept playing in their speed up and down up and down taking bad shots weren't
02:06 making them um and that's what they were baiting us into doing and we fell right into the trap but
02:10 i think when they kind of when they get it back to you know six eight ten point lead it's just
02:13 you know weathering the storm staying composed getting good shots and i don't think we did a
02:17 good job of that tonight so um the film's going to show us a lot you know on the defensive end
02:21 tomorrow but um you know we'll look at it and get better get better from it. Joe Masato the
02:25 Oklahoman, Joshua how did it feel being back out there with Shea tonight? Great i love playing with
02:30 him um i think our chemistry is getting better and better over time so um i think you know in a few
02:35 years we're going to be you know one of the best backcourts in the league so growing with him is
02:38 something i'm loving doing. Mark said after the game that you know moving forward you when you
02:44 guys play together you're primarily going to be on the ball and he's going to be off
02:48 is that a decision or something you guys talked about during the break? Yeah we spoke about it um
02:53 you know us three but um you know a lot of it is just Shea he's got great you know gravitate so
02:58 much attention to him that um you know sometimes playing him off the ball is going to free him up
03:01 even more um whether it's me handling initiating and he gets on that second side um he's so dangerous
03:06 in so many different ways so um you know as i said with our chemistry is building um and as we figure
03:12 that out um that backcourt kind of structure out more who brings it up who initiates um you know a
03:16 lot of it um it's just going to flow on and get better and better so um we spoke about it and um
03:21 i think it was really evident tonight that you know he played off the ball a bit more and he
03:24 had 30 or so points so um he's a weapon in so many different ways and the more we can expand together
03:29 the better it's going to be for this team. And just your comfort level in that role like i'm i'm sure
03:34 you feel pretty good having the ball in your hands and and being able to have a weapon like that off
03:39 the ball? Yeah obviously you know that's where i'm most comfortable and um a lot of the time i'm
03:43 trying to run stuff to get the ball back to his hands um you know so it just takes the pressure
03:47 off him having to bring it up you know guys pick him up full court make it hard so i just try to
03:50 make life easy for him bring it up get into the offense and then it's going to come back to him
03:54 and he's going to be able to attack on the second side so um as i said the more we play together
03:58 that's going to continue to get better and better and um you know as i said i'm loving playing with
04:02 him. Interselectively athletic just another follow-up does it kind of empower you that he's
04:07 willing to do that with within that role i mean he's a guy that could go get 30 every night on
04:12 his own with step backs and an array of ways but he's willing to give that up is that empowering?
04:17 Yeah it is um you know it speaks to how he is as a guy as well um he's really unselfish and as
04:22 i said he could have 30 whenever he wants um he could play iso ball and he could have 50 a lot
04:26 of nights if he just wanted to go iso every night uh every possession sorry but um he's unselfish
04:31 he buys into what we're trying to build here and um you know as you said whether it's me on the
04:35 ball him on the ball off the ball it's always going to come back to him and there's always
04:38 going to be times where he's handling and um you know in those iso situations playing in pick and
04:42 rolls so um you know whether he brings it up or not uh you know majority of the time it's coming
04:46 back to him to get us a shot.
