00:00 Question for him.
00:00 Mark, I think they went on like a 17 to 5 run late.
00:07 I know a lot of the guys had out there
00:09 is one of the first times being in a true crunch time
00:13 execution situation.
00:14 What did you take away from that last five minutes or so?
00:20 I mean, obviously, not good enough defensively.
00:22 A couple of loose ball plays, rim protection.
00:26 And then offensively, you got to keep the scoreboard moving
00:28 there.
00:29 Obviously, we weren't as good offensively
00:31 as we needed to be tonight to win the game.
00:34 I thought our defense for much of the night was good.
00:36 I thought we had some lapses in that stretch.
00:38 But really good second quarter, really good third quarter.
00:42 And good at the beginning of the fourth
00:44 as well to build a little bit of a lead.
00:45 But obviously, needed to be better on both ends
00:48 there down the stretch.
00:50 Workouts in your main guys seemed
00:52 like Darius kind of stepped up for you on the court.
00:56 But also, you pulled the guys aside for a little
00:58 impromptu cuddle after a timeout.
01:01 You have lots of other leaders.
01:03 But do you maybe have a specific leadership role
01:06 that you can [INAUDIBLE]
01:09 I mean, we encourage all of our players
01:11 to lead in their own way.
01:13 Baze is a guy that I think, if you look at where he came in
01:18 three years ago, developmentally, he
01:21 kind of started from scratch.
01:22 I say that complimentary because he's come a long way.
01:25 And he's to the point now where he's our most tenured guy
01:28 and understands the expectations on both ends.
01:31 He's really learned the game.
01:33 And he's learning how to share that with his teammates.
01:35 But the leader is the person doing the right thing.
01:39 And so it's accessible to everybody.
01:40 And it's impressive that he's taken this time
01:43 to try to impart that a bit.
01:45 [INAUDIBLE]
01:53 I thought we put him in a crowd with our help defense tonight.
01:57 The ball penetrated.
01:59 And our help defenders were pretty active
02:02 with their length and just being in the right positions.
02:04 And I think it just goes to show--
02:06 it speaks to being in the right spots.
02:08 When you're in the right spots and you
02:09 give good effort on the ball, you
02:12 force teams to make multiple passes.
02:14 And there's an exposure risk to that.
02:16 And I thought we had some active plays tonight,
02:18 both on the ball and in our help defense.
02:22 [INAUDIBLE]
02:23 I don't know.
02:29 You can ask him.
02:30 I don't think so.
02:31 There's a volatility to his shot making right now.
02:34 I think that's part of why we're so hell-bent on him trying
02:39 to find some easier ones.
02:40 Because obviously, in the Miami game, he had it going.
02:44 But he found some easy shots, too.
02:45 He found some catch and shoots that were really rhythmic.
02:49 And I thought tonight, he didn't find as many of those.
02:52 So he was reliant on the tougher ones
02:55 that we like him taking.
02:57 Because it obviously is a skill of his.
03:00 But I'm not sure if he was tight or anything.
03:03 Did you like what he saw from [INAUDIBLE]??
03:07 Yeah.
03:08 He just needs to keep--
03:09 I talked to him in Miami.
03:11 He struggled shooting the ball in Miami.
03:13 He's just got to continue to develop a holistic game
03:17 and allow the shooting to come around.
03:21 The speed of the game's different.
03:22 The length of the players is different.
03:24 He's obviously playing-- these are high stakes minutes for him.
03:27 He's trying to make his way.
03:30 And so the best way to handle that
03:32 is to get lost in the things you can't control.
03:34 And I think he's done a decent job of that
03:36 on both ends of the floor.
03:38 Tonight, obviously, you got to go in with the shooting.
03:40 But his floor game and his defense continues to trend up.
03:43 And that makes it easier to continue to play him.
03:45 And it's going to be important for him moving forward,
03:48 because the shot making is volatile, as we know.
03:51 Anyone else in the room?
03:52 No questions on those, then.
03:59 All right, thank you.
